Wow these comments are way more fired up than I thought. Amateur 125cc former karter here. These privately owned tracks open to the public to hire karts are ridiculously tighter than actual race circuits. Most spaces on the track you can JUST fit two karts wide, there's absolutely going to be rubbing, but that's why these soda karts have the bumpers they do. How else would you get by anyone else if they just drove around the track? At no point did he just launch his kart into the arse of anyone. Guy's driving hard but not endangering anyone.
@@danielmercado2851 How was he damaging anything ??? Have you actually raced before ? (Not just public session on your local go kart track, but ACTUAL competition) He was more cautious than 95% of the driver we meet during club100 or B/F/... RKC events. And no "oversteering" is not sliding out of control my guy... If you want to be the fastest on track, you HAVE to oversteer at one point during the corner. Karts are MADE for that. They don't have any differential wich makes them understeer into the corner, and oversteer on the outside. And they have not enough power. So in order to be fast you have to brake as little as possible (or lock the brake for a split second), rotate early using the throttle so that you keep the momentum. If you use a traditional line for go karts, you'll be a whole second off the pace in an actual comp
@@b_e_a_t_i_n_g_h_e_a_r_t_ I strongly recommend HyperKarting if you want to go 15 minutes for 20 dollars. However I extremely strongly do not recommend HyperKarting if you really like Karting
@Cuzzi Its really not faster, but it is fun. You lose momentum when you slide/drift. The fastest way around is with solid braking before the corner without locking the wheels, hitting apex, and accelerating out. With that said I saw nothing 'wrong' with this driving...
@@b_e_a_t_i_n_g_h_e_a_r_t_ i went to this place today and as a 14 yr old, it was kinda hard to steer but i somehow managed to get a 27 second lap on the same track layout as you. B]
Out of all the karting places in Sydney, Villawood is the worse, not because of the track but because of the employees unrealistic expectation that you aren't gonna rub going past an amateur that can't ride a line properly. Did a light rub past someone that didn't adhere to the "let them pass" signs the whole time and the one time I passed them I made the lightest bit of contact then I got a "last warning, no contact" sign. I sh*t you not, the contact was so light that the person I was passing didn't pay notice and kept going with their ridiculous line and I managed to squeeze through ( just past going under the bridge) and the workers got all angsty about it. And the no drifting is BS rule, you see in-between laps when the workers are testing the carts (im assuming for quality checks) theyre drifting through the whole thing with their whole speed unlocked, so hypocrisy is there 100%. Went there once, and never going back. Will stick to Luddenham and Eastern Creek thanks.
Hey don't hate on drifting it's a way of speed and late brake style. Don't take drifting out of karts the only thing is to be fast and not crash ,I would just suggest to the man that drifting loses your speed and makes you slower and it's advised against but it should not be a rue indefinitely
As a track marshal, in my experience, most ppl who drift on purpose tend to also be the ones to spin out and cause an unavoidable accident. Nothing safe abt doing a handbrake turn half a kart length in front of your opponent.
@@b_e_a_t_i_n_g_h_e_a_r_t_ I'm guessing it was because of kart traffic?, think of the idealology of overtaking so much to the point where there is just a huge gap to do a hotlap and win, easier said than done lol
To be fair though, rules are rules in these places. If people don't like the rules, go somewhere else. Best not to be a prick about it. Also, this track looks kind of bad, still fun, but damn lol. Idk where you are based but I'm guessing Sydney so if you are up in Brisbane at some point, be sure to try any 3 of the slideways tracks, they are purpose-built for drifting.
I dont get why the employees had an issue with that tho cuz you never drifted, you oversteered. I’m willing to bet these karts don’t even have enough torque to actual perform a drift on that surface anyways (I’m a Gokart mechanic and I work on electric Gokarts). Oversteering is a part of racing, whether it’s go-karts or F1 cars. Even if you perfectly time your braking, go at the perfect speed and drive the perfect line, there will be times where you need to induce oversteer on purpose to correct the pitch of the kart/car. A lot of these karting places are starting to make “safety” rules that are counter productive to the sport and it’s getting ridiculous.
wait til you see teamsport in the UK, their electric karts are turned down for public sessions so if you want to go quick and as fast as a member gotta purchase membership and go onto a member session instead of a public one xd
Villawood by far is the worse place for Go-karting. Went there once, never again. For one the track is tight, but that isn't the issue, there is no courtesy taught (when theyre meant to before sessions start) for people to give way to those stuck behind them. They show them "let them pass" for the slower less skillful karters but of course because they're amateurs and its more of a casual place, you're going to be stuck behind someone the whole time. Horrible place, might be good for a kid party but for common go karters I'd stay well away.

It's people like you that give go-karters a bad name! You have fueled my inspiration to campaign for speed limits to be introduced at my local go-karting ring. Sorry, not sorry!
How would a speed limit fix that? he's drifting and ramming people into the sides, those dont need a high speed to do, plus if speed limits were on go karting us karters would rather have this guy who rams people than someone who stopped flying down the track, if speed limits were a thing hot laps would exist lmfao
@@Av1dd I think it would just be a safer and more fun experience for everyone if a 10kph maximum speed limit was implemented. I'd also introduce a rule that everyone racing would automatically get a lap where they were coming first, so parents could take photos of their kids and parade them to close family and friends. For example, if there were 8 Karters, I'd introduce 8 laps, and at the end of each lap the racer coming first would pull over and merge into the last position. This rotation would go on for each lap giving a parent just enough time to snap a few photos of their child. That way every child doesn't miss out on being a winner! Obviously these rule changes would also come into affect for adults as well.
In regards to the ramming of go-karts, I would implement a static electric steering wheel that sends a shock to the drivers hands if any, and I mean ANY! nudge or vibration is felt on the kart. It wouldn't be a nasty shock just a slight stinger to notify the driver that this race isn't just about them and their greed for glory, but for the greater good of the other drivers and karts. They too will have a chance to drive in 1st place for one lap, as long as they can control their pride, ego and human urge to trample a fellow racer.
I'd love to go karting with people like you. Seems rlly fun drifting and going high speeds like that fr
But drifting makes you slower.
