We had an Enduro race at my facility in Texas using electric karts and won! Our team won tickets to the 2018 US GP where Kimi Raikkonen won. I wish they did these more often. Great racing out there!
This is very interesting! The only karting experience I've got is some 10 lap maximum, quick races in petrol gokarts. This race feels really interesting because you have to strategize a bit with the energy and pits. Cool stuff!
fun fact in these karts to counter the understeer warm up your brakes befor the race by pumping them in the pit lane and then before a corner absolutely jam on the brake on and off as fast as you can. This will dirft the kart which sounds bad but it really is faster because you can stay in the rev range a lot longer on acceleration. This is how we race in my league and it works wonders for us
Ayy congrats on the 100k good to see someone from Canberra pulling big also funny enough I was actually at power kart that day watching the race. was definitely a good watch
I can’t believe I’m just seeing this now hahaha. I still can’t believe you pulled a 34 lap stint at the end! Almost took the win away. Excellent performance!
I once did a 4 hour endurance kart race with 8hp go karts together with a buddy of mine (with 30 minutes qualifying and 30 minutes wasted race, because the telemetry stopped working, so we had to repeat that - the first stint was 1 and a half hour). I was exhausted... I needed one week to recover from this. Had hematomas all over my back and on my knees from all the bumps (not the smoothest surface on the track). I got hit by another kart who "didnt see" my hand signal to go for pit and decided to go instead over me. He hit me on my shoulder and arm causing a lot of pain for the rest of the race. It was the hardest thing I have ever done, and I went endurance racing all over europe in Touring cars. After 3 hours into the race I lost my concentration, and it was really surreal, not noticing details anymore, the tunnel vision, not beeing able to read the signs of my buddy, nor beeing able to count my laps anymore. I needed help to get out of the Kart, since I had no strength. Maybe the driver who hit me earlier in the race had the same problems. He didnt came over to say sorry, so I can only assume. Anybody who says motorsports is no real sport, because the guys dont do the activity is just a coach potatoe.
This literally felt like the Spanish GP 2021 all over again...🥲😅😂... But regardless, that was an amazing last stint ... Especially considering you pulled out 37 laps put of it
when the power cut out, you mighta had the brake pressed by mistake while the gas was pressed - happened to me with the exact same model of karts, and I was stuck in the middle of the track until I realized I was slightly tapping the brake.
Nah this wasn’t the case, sometimes whenever i think this is happening i put my toes underneath the brake and lift it to make sure it’s not jammed/sticky. I also take my foot completely off the brake pedal sometimes to try diagnose it
Awesome. This looks so much fun. I've only done one cart race in my life, also ended second :-) But they were not electric carts and the race was like 40-50 laps or so. Your arms must have been like soft spaghetti. I remember having difficulty moving around for days afterwards. Haha.
Go kart racer here, I used to race electric karts before and they last 22 laps but 39 laps? Man you're really lucky and 2nd place is better than nothing.
Hey what camera were you using for the pov? And how’d you mount it? The video looks very stable and seems like battery life is pretty good if it lasted the entire race

This looks like so much fun. Would love to compete in a race like this. How was your back and sides after this race? After only 60 or so laps in these karts I get mad bruises on my back and hips haha.
Is the understeering an electric kart problem? bc i‘ve been karting twice in an electric race now and i‘ve found me going down from 44,1 to 42,2 by braking hardly shortly just to get the balance right into the curve, allthough the curve itself wasn‘t slow enough for a need to brake??
Was that girl letting the carts go new? Because I know from any sport with calls that you don’t use similar sounding words so I was a bit confused when she seemed shocked that you almost went when she said ‘don’t go’. (in cricket you would shout ‘yes’ or ‘no’ instead of ‘go’ and ‘no’ to avoid confusion).
Think what happened when you lost power is cause these Karts have a controller that can control the speed limit remotely. K1 speed in the states uses them and they can control your power from a remote cause they use the same karts. So maybe the guy controlling the speed of the karts fudged it and hit a button. But thankfully you got the power back

Electric karts are usually better to drive because of torque and all that. Also quieter which is nice.
