If only you could this for more bikes! I love the cadence of your speech and the way you articulate your thoughts and findings, I'm learning a lot, thank you!
I was starting to wonder how you'd keep the tension on the bearings while swapping out the offset spacer underneath. Im glad you included an explanation to how it works, the step on the steering stem is genius
I thought so too. That stepped steering stem dea took me until revision #8 to come up with. Glad it happened, really makes a difference. What good are adjustable triples if they're so hard to adjust that you don't..
Just installed these on my gen3 over the weekend. Unfortunately the weather has turned and I won't be able to test it out and fine tune for a few days. I wish I had seen this video before installing it answered a couple of questions that I had during the install. So far incredibly well built product and I am looking forward to fine tuning.
@@superduked33No worries, really appreciate how much knowledge you share. I know my way around a bike and have fabricated plenty of custom parts over the years so it wasn't a hang up, I was shockingly close on the torque specs. I can't wait until the weather breaks and I can start dialing in the offsets. I will say these clamps are very well built and were definitely worth the wait and cost.
Great video as usual. An install video for this would be superb, tip n tricks, does and don'ts. Unless there is one and I'm not looking hard enough. Top notch work and engineering, surely an official colab with KTM is in order if their power parts clamp is so flimsy 👏👏👏
I filmed this four times. Fist attempts included me taking the bike apart and putting it back together. Then finally I realized I have no business showing folks how to work on their motorcycles. I am the worst mechanic around. As far as tips and tricks, that's a really tough one as well - because no one rule applies to every rider. People's bodies are so different, riding styles, speeds, feel, technique, and then other upgrades and ride heights, gearing, etc. In fact that's why we made this many offset inserts. Because of the countless variables that one rider might have compared to another - its impossible for me to suggest one thing for everyone. That's why I decided to support Superclamp customers on a one-on-one basis. Using my data and their setup, plus a short conversation about what they feel now, I can make better suggestions for which way to go with inserts. Generally speaking, the "+" inserts make steering quicker, the "-" inserts make steering slower. Nobody on this earth will ever use the three slower steering inserts - unless they have the back of the bike jacked up to the moon (which is problematic for other reasons). Does that make sense?
I admire your dedication, hand work and effort has been rewarded, congratulations. Also excellent video presentation, outstanding. Can this setup used on the 1390?
Gen4 is built with the same parts other than shock and fork internals, so yes. But I have not ridden the gen4 yet so I hate to advise on things I haven’t tried oersonally
Wonderfully explained I learned something new today Thanks! You were talking about Super Duke or Dukes wanting to go straight, it is different for their RC390 supersport model. I would love to know your input on the mechanical difference on the KTM RC390 compared to Dukes.
@@superduked33 Yep that bike feels at home when its leaned in. Super sharp in stable in corners. It would be a great vid if you could figure out its difference, if there are any👍
I plan on keeping my gen1 as a track bike. I already have full suspension both front and rear and have changed the geometry as much as I could, now I'm thinking about this, but which other parts from your catalog would you really recommend for the gen1? Also, once purchased, would you be available to help answer questions? Thanks.
Unfortunately your Gen1 has no link, so I can't help you there. But Gen1 SDRs can go around a racetrack brilliantly quick. I did a three video series on the Gens 1&2, check my channel history. Lots of tips and tricks, I loved those bikes. In fact my buddy still races my Gen2, I take him to the races with me - both bikes side by side in my truck. Two powerful tips for that bike as it is - lengthen your shock and spin your axle as far back and down in the eccentric as you can (chain length is your friend - I ran 15/40/114). But as I say in this video, while that will help you a lot, by getting your trail down near 101, it's not the best solution to adjust your front with your rear. Superclamp would be the best way to go. I just need to re-tool the upper and lower clamps to accommodate the Gen1 headlight mounts. I am still underwater on the current Superclamp project so I can't start those yet. But I will as soon as I can. Short machining runs are crazy expensive
I ran +2 up front and +330 in the rear last fall at Laguna and really ripped out there. But soon I will be trying lower rear height and more offset. Jury is still out on my Superclamp best settings because this version of the Superclamp is better than the prototypes that I have been racing on. I will be testing in a few weeks and will post up with more on this then
You are not slow. I worded that weirdly. My fault. Tried to say this is the first offset triple clamp for any gen Superduke. Instead the word "all" came out for some bizarre reason. Having said that though, I do plan to make them for all generations because dimensionally they already work. Just headlight mounts are different. I just need to recover from the financial hit of this project before diving into the different revisions. Thanks for watching
People have trouble with their suspension set . Getting your trail and rake right is another huge math problems . Just like adjusting your swing arm pivot height and pivot to rear axle length . A little challenging for most people and can be dangerous .
Agreed, especially the last part. It can be dangerous if you go off the reservation with your settings. I know a dude who was a great racer - he experimented once waaaay outside the range and ended up launching himself off the hight side of a banked sweeper. Bike destroyed, rider badly injured. He still rides today but he doesn't race anymore. Big crash. That's why I offer support, backed by data and lots of math. Not to tell people where to go, but to offer an experienced based opinion. Thanks for contributing brother. Valuable
Fascinating as usual. Thanks for explaining in such detail, I learnt a bunch of stuff that was a blank area before. 🙂
Thanks for saying that. Makes the effort worthwhile.

Time for tea and biscuits!
Missusing tools there Eric, that’s a ride height measuring tool, but I see MK2 version is on the bike!😉
Love the videos I love the way you cover the subject matter, I’m looking to go super link for the summer as a start.

Do they sell that carbon fiber exhaust cover anywhere online?

really curious how the new 1390 is setup... that's the bike i'm currently looking to buy
From what I have read and researched via KTM part numbers, it's the same chassis. Same rules will apply to the Gen4
I love it!

Once I have a cash windfall, I am having you build a “Superduked Spec” race bike for me and making a return. Does AFM have a Formula 60 yet? 😂
Out of interest, where do you measure the trail from fork position wise. Forks fully extended or with bike load, rider load? thanks!
Great question. Trail and swingarm angle etc. they're all measured with the bike suspended on stands - wheels hanging, not in contact with the ground.
I might be slow but does this fit ALL gen of superduke?

Hi GoGo,
Do these fit on the Super Duke GT gen 2 ???
Currently only the Gen3 and Gen4 Superdukes. But the GT is on my radar for sure
