Easy Fix for No Spark on 150cc Xtreme Moped GY6 Engine

  • I tried everything under the moon and found out it was a darn kill switch causing no spark on my junk Chinese 150cc moped scooter.
    I'm a noob when it comes to fixing mopeds, this was my first time fixing an electrical system in my life. If I could do it. You can too.
    IF THIS DOESNT WORK DO THE FOLLOWING
    REPLACE IGNITION COIL, SPARK PLUG, CDI.
    IF THAT DOESNT WORK REPLACE STATOR

    2 days of chasing wires and diagnosing this and that. I knew it couldn't be this simple. Pulled the wire out of the CDI pigtail, plugged it back in, and fired it up. You're the fucking man.

      @@BackyardRevivals so with your knowledge, if I get a new CDI, put the wire I disconnected back in the harness, and plug it into the new CDI, SHOULD everything work like normal? Or do I more than likely have another underlying issue?

    • @BackyardRevivals
      @BackyardRevivals  3 роки тому +3

      @@ADEMILY87 if you disconnect your killswitch wire and it runs, this means your killswtich system is stuck grounded which means either your ignition switch, killswitch or kickstand kill switch is bad. New cdi is unlikely to fix it. I would just run a wire from your killswitch wire on ur cdi to a new killswitch, I ended up just buying a lowes light switch for awhile, but eventually upgraded to an Ebay button.

    Little brother...I just rewired for an 11 pole stator, even made a video about it. 1st 2 rides I was getting intermittent spark, she ran but would shutdown after about 4-5 miles or so. Pulling the spark plug and testing showed nothing. I was thinking it was the carb. mixture until I test the spark plug see I'm no spark. Of course check wiring, CDI, coil, tested everything...Came across your video and this other brother's who both confirmed the same thing. Didn't cut mine, but unseated it from the terminal, and now SPARK! Thank you nephew, I will be making a video in a couple of days and your name WILL be mentioned. Thank again! @@kachiskid what you do is make a switch from the cut end of the killswitch wire to a ground or the other end of the cut killswitch wire. Alternatively you could also ground out the ignition coil, wire from coil lead to switch than from switch to ground.
      The scooter in the video I went with the wire to wire technique and used a push button I ordered from Ebay to complete the killswitch circuit that was cut.

      If your CDI is the kind where the 2 plug has 2 wires not one, then itll work. The reason it works is because that wire provides a ground to the CDI when the killswitch is on / kickstand down / key is not engaged, so when you cut it the bike has no killswitch. You will need to install a manual killswitch or find where the ground is stuck. You could also just cut part of the wire and see if its grounded. If it's not then this will not fix your issue.

      It is weird if I check the spark by turning the ignition there is not a spark. But if I check it by turning the ignition and flipping the kill switch back and fourth it will inconsistently spark. Also I just replaced the ignition coil

      Put a lightswitch or a button inline connecting the cut wire. Complete the circuit to shut off the bike. You could also try and find out what is causing the grounding issue, this will require some brain power and a multimeter.

    These scooters are the biggest pile of junk. Owning one is the most frustrating waste of time. If it isn’t one thing, it’s another. I pushed mine more then I ive rode it. No spark this morning. Ran fine when parked, I’m gonna drop it off at the dump.

    ill try this ill let you know. everything is new now lol but my wires have a bad ground so it starts like 1% out of 50 times lol Yes i also purchase starting fluid and did not work, but i will try your method. To me it looks like the stupid cdi freezes the cable wires so by cutting that cable you bypass the frozen motor function to start! great idea ill try that today!
