me
I’ve been listening to so many versions of this and my husband’s starting to ask who hurt me 😂😂😂😂
Rinejhie De Leon 😂😂 love that!
Dats cute😊
Jessica Vosk’s version of this song is my fav.
She was also my favorite Elpheba 🥰
😂
same. lol
who gave her the right to be this good?
Dakotakuhn THATS WHAT I SAID EXACTLY BRO
God did. 🥰Dang he did a great job in making her voice. I literally stopped everything I was doing to hear this. Ahhhh 😩😍
America did when we voted for her to be the winner of American Idol.
Yes, WHO!?😳🤔😂❤️
I assure you. Jordan would have become famous with her voice to the world whether American idol happened or not. Greatness always surfaces with gorgeous gifts like this. We are lucky dogs peeps.
Honestly this still doesn’t quite capture what Jordin brings to the stage with this song. Two hours of emotional build-up as Jenna pours out of her onstage in this song and I’ve never been in a crowd that audibly gasped and all mouthed “oh my god” the way they did when she reached the climax of this song. I’m thankful to have gotten to experience it. Unreal
Jonathan Rodriguez beyond jealous I would literally die
Thanks for the insight! I've been a fan since American Idol. So happy to see she landed on Broadway! Much success to her.
Jonathan Rodriguez me too
Yessssss she was amazing!!! Talk about ugly cry!
Amazingly said! I am also thankful to have experienced those goosebumps in the crowd
Every Jenna's rendition is getting fierce and my cry is getting uglier!damn, waitress cast director, you've done a great job on choosing every jenna 😭😭😭😭
Me too, tears every time.
Jordin’s low notes are wonderful. It is very dynamic and warm, go right straight into my heart.
It reminds me so much of her Idol days too. So soooo happy she's still killing it :)
Missing the era and others sing as if she nowadays
very true, and even so that she teases with them, i hope she locks into that pocket more often

This is the comment I came to leave
Me: *sobs uncontrollably watching this video*
My phone: Your period is predicted to start in two days.
I feel attacked hahahaha I felt this comment girl!!!
Hahaha fuck mine too Hahahha
emmythemac In 3........... 2........... 1............... Bwahahahahahahaha...
emmythemac TMI
🤣🤣🤣🤣 you made my day...
not only does her voice sound incredible but her ACTING good lord. she is so good!!
This comment deserves more likes. I could have sworn she was the real Jenna
And this isn’t even close to the emotion she brings to this role on stage, its truly captivating
I've watched lots of versions of this song, but Jordan completely captivated me and made me feel all of the feels! She is so incredibly talented!
I haven't heard Jordin sing like this in years. I really wished she'd release another album like Battlefield. That album is a true gem, a perfect masterpiece of just how excellent her vocals truly are
@@CTA-- Agreeeeeed
You are right
I would love to hear her do a broadway album!
yes!
What a clear, strong yet healthy belt. That song is right in her range.
Yes!! I live for a healthy belt i long for it.
Only bad thing about this performance is that it ended.
Somehow she managed to sound as though she were sobbing throughout the song, all while maintaining excellent vocals and pitch. And it’s like... we’ve all been there. Sobbing for the person we once were, the chance we once had, for the life we once lived. And because of that, it hits just so much deeper when Jordin sings it.
I agree a thousand percent!!♥️💯♥️
everything is SO clean it’s insane
Now if we can just get her in Wicked I'd be complete..
Aderius Scott yooooo ughhhh frfr
@@dayvaughnmonroe9540 😋😋
💯💯💯
I never knew I needed this until now.
This comment literately wiped my fancast CLEAR. Jordin should be Elphaba TODAY!
She makes it all sounds so easy then you sing it and realize you can’t because it’s insanely difficult
I saw her two weeks ago and I UGLY CRIED. She’s absolutely phenomenal
Lucky! I went to see waitress and the little paper fell out of my playbill saying there was an understudy and I was pissed
Hanna Leise this actually happened to me when I was in town too. I SPECIFICALLY bought the ticket to see her. Stephanie Torns did amazing!! But I was there for Jordin! 😢
Frankie Hernandez yes! Stephanie was soooo good especially when she sand she use to be mine. I think it’s fine for understudies to have their chance to shine but I don’t think it’s fair that there’s no warning that she won’t be there if it wasn’t like an emergency situation
Bet my ‘ugly cry’ beats yours lol! (Trust me it’s real scary 🤦🏻♀️😂)
The first rendition in a while that brought tears to my eyes. I think it makes a world of a difference when you have a woman playing Jenna who has had a child.
Caitlyn Reilly absolutely
Honestly she had genuine tears in her eyes during a few of these songs and it wrecked me
It definitely brings a sense of honesty to the role!
The Jenna with the least theatrical experience YET this is probably the best rendition of the song? 🤯 the emotion, the vocals, yes
EG idk know about that. I saw Jessie Mueller several times and she knocked it out of the park. I just heard SARA sing it on tour and that was fantastic too. I think there’s something great that each singer brings to the show. And yes, she is very emotive. 😊
@@GraciesMom yeah, Jessie Mueller remains my top pick. But this came a very close second.
Alison for me
Shoshana Bean is far away
EG jordin has plenty of theater experience, she was in In the Heights I think.
Ah, someone who doesn't over sing. Rare these days.
Technically but still easy listening
What about Christina Aguilera? lol #Jokes 🤷🏽♀️
@@PhoenixMinistry At least Xtina knows she does too much haha
I feel like a lot of people can get so caught up in the belting and vocals that they lose the emotional impact behind the song. Jordin does a great job of balancing the vocals with the emotion
I think she did oversing, for my taste. Still too many riffs
Tell me how I’m supposed to breath with no air after that performance! Omg so good 😍😍
Daniel Joseph Baker the pun
Hahaha love it
Mood
Daniel Joseph Baker it’s just one step at a time
Good work lad!
Her voice is so dang clear and powerful, yet soft and smooth all at the same time! Incredible!
This woman's voice still sounds like liquid gold. I remember watching her on American Idol as a kid and so many people disliked her because she was heavier set. I also sing and was heavier growing up and I admired her so much. Glad to see she's doing amazing things. I got to see Shoshana Bean in this which was amazing but I imagine this was equally powerful. I get goosebumps just watching this.
Now THAT'S the American Idol vocalist I remember...Good to see she still has those weighty upper belts
THOSE RUNS ON THE BELT
Jordin took some time off to show ya'll she was never playing with the vocals....I literally didn't think anyone was messing with SHOSHANA "Lungs of Life" BEAN but sis said "Hold my beer!!!!"
Her vibrato is so beautiful! Also, who else thinks she would make an amazing Angelica Schuyler?
how has she not been on broadway until now
garlic bred she was in In the Heights! But besides that, I agree that she needs to be on more
She was Nina in ‘In The Heights’
Griffin Giboney I knew I recognised her voice!
OMG SHE HASNT??? are u for real? That cant be . She is perfecf
@Witch's Brew Sims oh idk whats that i recently just got into musicals. I only read thd comnent lol
I can't swear, but I believe Simon told her she wasn't a pop singer. He said her voice was more suited to Broadway. I agreed then. And here she is, singing the heck out of a gorgeous piece of music. Thank you Sara Bareilles., 🙏❤️
She’s such a different and interesting Jenna and I’m here for it
The 24 thumbs down must be people who didn’t appreciate bursting into tears
Heyit'smec RIGHT😭
They probably couldn't tell which button was which through their tears and clicked the wrong one
Heyit'smec 64 now, this really moving people 😭
You made me ugly laugh! Thank you.
She could hold a note for years that power and clarity!
3:42 My head was slammed into a guillotine and my head is off but 👏🏻 i’m 👏🏻 still 👏🏻 clapping 👏🏻 ⚰️
Honestly, when she was first announced I didn’t think she’d be as amazing as she is in this role. Her rendition of this is stunning, and she brings something different in this performance that I haven’t seen in a Jenna before, which I think is brilliant! Well done to the casting director of this show!
Someone please help me, I can't stop watching different renditions of this song 😩
I love every single Jenna there’s been, and I don’t have a favorite because they’ve all been unique. Jordin is one of the very few Jenna’s who is actually a mother and I think that is definitely shown here.
I'll say it again, this is the best version of the song from a purely vocal standpoint. Beautiful clear & resonant midbelts!
I saw her and the waitress cast last night, she was AMAZING, I don’t think I’ve ever been more invested in a characters development and happiness. Jordin Sparks deserves every ounce of praise she gets for this role. Cue the ugly cry.
There’s something about her riffs that make the song more emotional 😭
When she riffed at “a man who can’t love” THAT was when I reached full spirit.
BUT THEN SHE DID THE SECOND “MINE”.
I have transcended. Thank you Jordan.
Now THATS how you riff
That last note knocked me down and snatched my wig, girl.
IWillBeHers 😂😂😂
SAME
My childhood coming back for my adulthood. Jordin ur FLAWLESS
Two things:
(1) She’s a treasure, and I think she’s improved so much from her turn as Nina in “In the Heights”. Her little voice cracks and riffs KILL ME.
(2) Can we talk about the lighting in the video? FANTASTIC. It spotlights her so well.
you know what? imma say it. THIS IS THE BEST VERSION
How she shows so much emotion in her body movements. That combined with her pure talent is just a one hit knock out of utter perfection.
its astonishing how this is clearly effortless for her
What really gets me about this performance is that she isn’t just sounding beautiful, she is truly feeling every single emotion this song conveys. You can see the pain on her face, and in her eyes, but she powers through it just like someone in this actual situation would. This is a true embodiment of a performance
I have seen more than a few renditions of this song ... and not only was this one of the best I've Ever seen - but Jordan Sparks was the first to convince me that she was singing about herself, instead of just powerfully singing a song .... and THAT seperates the True Artists from the simply powerful singers!!!!
Love her! I wish they had her sing a different song though. I'd love to hear her What Baking Can Do.
Lizzy ua-cam.com/video/mKsAYDA1-uU/v-deo.html
Agreed. This song is overdone at this point
holy crap she made that sound so natural and effortless and was just so damn good I think I'm in love
“who gets hurt” at 2:46........gasp...instant tears. I can feeeel that
I love the blend of the pop and the theatrical...makes this beautifully relevant. Her low register is astounding and I really appreciate her phrasing. But can I say...those riffs....GET IT GIRL!
If they ever make a movie out of the musical version of "Waitress" (this has happened before with "Hairspray"), I want them to cast Jordin as Jenna.
They better cast Jordin! By the time this song found me, the tickets sold out and only a few shows left 💔
I feel like I've waited so long for this she is SO EPIC.
This is the only rendition of this song that’s managed to actually bring me to tears
The way she goes from that soft sad mode to that fierce belting mode is so phenomenal...no doubt Whitney Houston selected this gem for her movie sparkle the lead role ....
Her lows are just as resonant as her highs its insane wow
I always start tearing up at "She is messy, but she's kind/She is lonely most of the time" What an amazing performance
Jordin Sparks...... the breath control!!!! She did that 😍
This was one of the single best vocal performances I’ve ever heard.
I saw her last night. I took my dad who isn’t musical person to see the show with me. After this performance he was floored. She was amazing !!
Her lower register is so smooth. It’s really developed over the years. Good for her. ❤️
Those RUNS!
Also, I feel the “trapped” feeling from her. You know? I can feel that she feels trapped.
I love Jordan Sparks’ voice. Her low notes can saw through redwoods and her high notes could etch leaded crystal with laser precision . This is the only performer for whom I voted on American Idol. It seems everyone is singing this incredible song lately, and this rendition has propelled itself to the top of my favorites list.
That's why she won Season 6 of American Idol. One of the greatest voices. She holds her own to Kelly, Carrie, JHud, Fantasia, and the rest of the voices of Idol history
Finally! I was waiting for this. Can we get Caitlin Houlahan's When He Sees Me? Would love to see some other waitress content other than SUTBM even though it's a master piece.
Broadway box has a youtube of her. Something like Broadway Unplugged Waitress' Caitlin Houlahan...
3:41 has anyone else done that riff? Amazing!
She has grown so much from her Idol and Sparkle days. She's not only a remarkably talented and beautiful singer, she can really act. It's weird how I feel so proud of her, but I do.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SINCE I FOUND OUT SHE WAS CAST 😭😭
Literally me
Same! I would search online like every day....
She totally made this her own! She’s such a star 💖
*Thank you **broadway.com** for giving me my medication for today*
Jordan's voice is so full and gives her character more wisdom in this song!
Only of the best versions of this. Holy crap.
we are not worthy 😭
Don't know how often I listened to that. She is so gorgeous!!!!
The other versions were good, but it really felt like they were just acting. Jordin’s version was so real, true to life, like “i had a bad day,
I have a rough life and im singing about it” . This is soo good
I’ve watched just about every version of this song and no one compares. This does not get the recognization it deserves. Jordin is incredible.
Here I am.. grown ass man that just got done welding up a custom intake manifold for my tractor and getting ready to go do an archery hunt in the morning, bawling my big stupid eyes out into my beer. What sorcery lurks here?
😂😂she got you too?
she really poured her heart singing this song, and it shows
“Its n-“ *pushes like button*
Omg same
Her tone and choices are what bring it to a different place
That’s pure talent right there.
She has so much emotion.
Took me almost an hour to get through this. I passed out like 7 times. This was the version of this song that I never knew I needed😩🔥🔥🔥🔥 Amazing
22??? Come on!
This is one of the best rendition I have heard! Crisp, clean and effortless!
I didn't expect this of Jordin, simply because I thought Jessica is the best Jenna, but Jordin gave me the same, if not more (her low notes blew me away) level of emotion and warmth. Great acting and superb voice!
This was PHENOMENAL. Saw her a few weeks ago and I still think Alison Luff is my favorite Jenna, but Jordin was great as well.
Yes!! Both so good!!
I went to see this play in New York.
Didn’t think I was going to enjoy this but I was so wrong.
I really enjoyed it.
I can’t wait to go see Tina Turner.
this is why i love watching different singers singing this song, they each bring something different to the song. Like Jordin Spark's version is deeply hurt, Alison Luff's version is full of resentment. But they all bring me to tears
Hers, Shoshana's, and Katherine's are my favorite 🤗
Thanks I am now crying in the train
Seldom ever is a song written that allows abundant room for emotional performances...SHE USED TO BE MINE is just such a song and certainly one of the most perfect ones ever conceived ...thanks to Sara Bareilles. And Jordan Sparks just used that emotional room to the max...AMAZING!!
Jordan's voice is amazing
I’m absolutely back here on a “used to be mine” spree, & my gods. This version makes me cry the most, the fastest. Heck. So amazing.
This needs to be seen in person. Trust me !!
The low notes, the completion of "n" in mine, the fine trills. Those things set her apart.
She brings more realism to the song. The first half are the best. Then she gets loud like the others . She is still my favorite version .
I love how everyone who takes on this role makes this track their own! & yet, it still feels so raw 😢
One of my fave singers since her time on Idol. Can’t believe how many amazing singers have been in the role of Jenna 💖💖💕💕
I think of Adrienne every time I hear this song and I want to cry. Never forget Adrienne.
She 👏🏼 takes 👏🏼 the 👏🏼 cake 👏🏼
