Since around halfway through the original franchise nuzlocke series, I always had the thought in the back of my mind saying "You know what would be absolutely unhinged and hilarious? If we did this again with only shiny Pokemon." and the intrusive thoughts won. So here we are, Shiny Only Season 2 baby!

Rules of the challenge:
1. All encounters must be shiny Pokemon (HM users may not be shiny but are not allowed to be used for attacking in battle)
2. Fainting = Death
3. Can only catch one Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
4. Cannot use a species of Pokemon more than once in the franchise (regional variants are considered separate)
5. No items in battle (held items okay)
6. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
7. Play on "Set" battle mode

Sadly that is not possible due to you can't trade Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon to Gen 3 onward.

@@FunkyGaming44 If ChaoticMeatball is using the Virtual Console versions of the Gen 1 and Gen 2 games, then it's possible (at least until the necessary stuff to transfer Pokémon between generations and games, like Pokémon Bank and PokéTransfer, shut down for good within the next few months).
I don't know if ChaoticMeatball *is* using the Virtual Consoles of Gen 1 and 2 or not. I'm just saying it's (currently for the time being) possible to transfer Gen 1 and 2 Pokémon to future games.

I saw the title and wondered if this was accidentally uploaded a couple hours early. Because it's such a crazy idea to do this for the whole series that I thought this was supposed to be an April Fools joke.
For those that don't know, the reason why Yellow's Rival used a Vaporeon instead of Jolteon or Flareon is due to losing the Rival fight at the Lab. Win the Lab fight but lose (or skip) the early Route 22 fight and you get Flareon, Win both fights, and Rival goes with Jolteon.

People really misconstrued that rant. I'm more mad that there's a large sect of Pokemon fans that play and consume nothing else but this franchise. I'd love to see people branch out a bit. I hope to do the same but there's still work that must be done in this franchise.

I really like the idea of these nuzlockes, but I'm always conflicted seeing shiny nuzlockes because I feel like it shifts the majority of the time of the run to be resets instead of having fun playing the game. I hope you still enjoy making these after the first season, and with your new shiny stipulation!
it’ll probably be much less painful after gen 1, being able to hunt via wild encounters instead of forced to soft reset will help!

Fun fact about Gyarados in Gen 1. In Red and Blue, Hydro Pump is a starting move for it. Which is why you saw it on your rival's Level 22 Gyarados. It got changed in Yellow though.
It's not supposed to be on the rival's Gyarados until the pre-elite 4 battle, going to assume this mod changes some movesets.

30:18 just a random tip that's helped me in my fitness journey is to watch what you drink big time. You don't realize how many calories are in drinks even if it's gatorade or tea. If you drink 3 gatorades in a day that's roughly 450 calories and it's even worse with higher sugar drinks.
Tea is effectively calorie free unless you get sweet tea or add sugar to it. If you drink straight black/green tea without addition it's fine.
Good tea doesn't need it y'all.

Watching this a few days after April fools I could’ve sworn this was going to be a joke until I checked the uploaded date to see it was uploaded on march 31st lol. I just kept watching the video waiting for him to say sike and cut to a pitched up version of never gonna give you up or something. I feel you on the 4x odds. I have an eevee hunt on Silver on physical GBC hardware, and it’s currently at 36,512 encounters. It’s to the point where I MAYBE can get myself to do a few resets per day. Keep in mind, zero speed up, as it’s on an Un-modded GBC. I have footage of me slowly going insane as I’m hunting it lol…

welcome to shiny hunting my friend. Some hunts go well under odds, others go to 2, 3, 4, 5, even 10 times over odds for one shiny. Its literally a lottery. maybe for future games consider modding the game to raise shiny odds if time constraints are that big a deal
can't wait to see every single shiny hunting method known to man during this series.

I still think pokemon missed a huge opportunity in not giving trainers shiny odds think it would be cool to randomly fight a shiny from a trainer
Not sure if anyone commented and explained, but the reason Gyarados had Hydropump at level 22 was because in gen 1, NPC pokemon just have their level up learnsets, unless they're a gym leader's pokemon with a TM move. Gyarados has hydropump on it's starting moveset in gen 1, and the only move it lears between then and 22 is bite, which is also on it's starting moveset.
I love how "wild Gyarados" in Red, Blue and Green (but not yellow) comes with Hydro Pump. Its so OP when you can get one in Mount Moon with the trainer escape at level 7, which crushes the early game. And its also funny when all the trainers have Hydro Pump Gyarados in really low levels because of it.

I hunted all three gen one starters without the rare candy glitch or modifications, each took around a month of hunting. And just finished hunting a farfetch’d in leafgreen which took a full year, gen one Farfetch’d hunt would have been faster. Not a flex, just sad but kool.
