much rather documentaries preferably on modern football in admittance, than those stupid vids like the 7 people in the Crystal Palace wall when Payet scored
I'm from México and I remember actually considering buying a Palermo jersey back in the Cavani and Pastore years because that team was so fun to watch and looked very elegant. I miss Palermo in Serie A, they added a lot of flavor to the league.
This modern day Atalanta side went 1 better than that Palermo side I do wonder though if Atalanta will decline rapidly now seeing they're out of Europe. I hope they hold firm though
As a Sicilian-American, I’ve been a supporter of Palermo for a long time. I streamed all of their matches when they were still in Serie A. Really glad to see a vid on the Rosanero’s downfall, I followed it closely, but found that it wasn’t covered very much outside of Italy. Great vid as always. Forza Palermo.
How about something on the Pozzo family. They own udinese and Watford. Especially considering udinese we're good 10 years ago and are now neglected because of watford
As a huge Serie A fan since 2009 I loved this video. Zamparini truly made every calcio fan hate Palermo, even though we always felt bad for the fans. As I got into Italian football the atmosphere at night games in the Renzo Barbera was insane. A real shame how one man can ruin a club.
When Palermo’s relegation happened in July 2019, it saved the losers of the Série B playout from relegation. That team was Venezia, the first club Zamparini ruined, who are now on their third Phoenix club since Zamparini left them bankrupt in 2002.
I started watching palermo around 2011, I was amazed by their fun way to play. I was one of the very few norwegian fans, I had to read every news article in Italian (with no pre-knowledge of the language, except google translate). And I can tell you this, hell it was a bumpy ride. Watching Zamparini destroy everything month after month, I think the turning point for me was when he sacked Pioli, then I understood there was no way back. I watched them play Serie B/A on severly crappy illegal streams for years, when they finally hit Serie D, I was finally happy again. Lets hope they can rise from the ashes. Also, I lolled when you mentioned Ezequiel Munoz as a dependable centerback. Hell he turned out a decent player, but he made more penalties than anyone in the start. Guy was so buff he pushed down anyone, all the time. I do love him tho, but you never knew if he was gonna win you the match or make you lose it (most likely the latter).
I'm from Palermo, thank you for your support, here in Palermo there is an air of rebirth and we are very confident that Palermo will sooner or later return to the old values of the past.
Kristian Butterworth pretty sure, i know that the 2000s was the best era for the club placement wise. Honestly I feel like a lot of the reason that they only got 5th is because the teams above Palermo were just so ridiculously good
@@isaisabellaisa you're correct, that was the last time serie a was the best league, it looks like it could be making a comeback though! But the early to mid 2000s is when Juventus AC Inter etc were all still powerhouses
These documentaries on great fallen teams are what makes this channel unique. You can find a video on the "Premier League's XI of the season" elsewhere, but only this channel produces videos like these.Keep this up Alfie, absolutely enjoying these!!
i have been stuck home sick for the last days and have had a hard time sleeping and i have been watching your channel almost none stop. This is the best of the best footbal channel on youtube!
I followed the story and Luzenac really got shafted there. They sued the LFP and a judge ruled in their favour, saying that Luzenac was unfairly stripped of their Ligue 2 spot, but it was too late for something to be done tho (2017 IIRC).
So I've been following this channel a couple months now, since I first started getting into soccer a year or so ago. This video perfectly encapsulates why this channel is fantastic. Where the hell else am I gonna get a lesson in art history and soccer in the same place? Beautiful, man.
I didn't know the fact that the current Atalanta and AC Milan manager were both in charge of Palermo before. Good video. Sad story of what could have been.
More, more, more videos like this buddy. I don't mind your occasional glitching, your work is incredible which is why I have been asking for you to make a video about 7 last Chelsea signings before the Abramovich takeover even though I could read it all up myself.
That was one of my favourite videos of yours, all of which are very good, I honestly can't believe you're from Yorkshire though as you're much more eloquent than anyone else I know (I'm from Yorkshire) or anyone from Yorkshire except maybe Patrick Stewart
In this and other worlds,I am a 53rd liker of this video and Palermo are an extremely so fantastic team forever in their respective lives and every generations that we would be born even though, they have fallen but I am still only following this team even if they are in their lower division, good friends!!!:-D
So many people forget about Barros Schelotto's time at Palermo. Rightfully so, mind you, but it led to him going back to Argentina to manage Boca Juniors, a huge move for him.
So, a team that languished in the lower leagues for many years before it's granted fortune by an ambitious owner, raising the club to an unpredecented height in its history... only for that same owner to sunk them to the ground. Seems fair to say that this is Italy's version of Watford, except Zamperini is even MORE trigger happy than Watford's owners (and just flat out insane), and Palermo was arguably much more succesful. Good video as always.
I'm a sucker for Palermo shirts. When a good one comes up on ebay, I'm always there. I currently own twelve and usually wear them in the gym. The one I'm desperate for is the third shirt from a few seasons back, black with pink pin stripes.
A video on the legendary Independiente forward line of Arsenio Erico, Antonio Sastre and Vicente de la Mata on how good they were and what they achieved together at Independiente during the late 1930s and early 1940s. Or a video on the halcyon days of Argentine football at both club and international level during the 1930s and 1940s with the many great players, teams and successes achieved during the period.
I want to get into Italian football. I think I’m leaning towards a Serie A team like Roma, and a team in Serie A right now but mid table like Fiorentina or Torino, but Palermo seem interesting to me. I saw some videos and they look like a club with history and culture which I like while also trying to find success in Europe and even Italy. I hope to get more into Palermo and football in general.
Spectacular video. You should do a video about the life of El Mágico Gonzalez, I’m he has quite a lot of funny anecdotes and is always a good lesson to learn about wasted potential
These documentaries are top class and really compliment the channel
I know
Thanks

I miss those pink shirts...
Those pink 👕 have a lot to do with why I clicked on this video quickly when I saw it.
they got promoted from Serie D to Serie C, so keep an eye out, they may be back in Serie B very soon
Hopefully they will get back-to-back promotion same as Parma do.

@John Mitchell brought upon by their own actions though
And now Watford's star players are joining Udinese 😄
So thats why all Watfords players have been sold to Udinese?!
One of the best channels on UA-cam hands down .
My favorite club in Italy. Hope they can reach the Serie A again in the future🤞🏻💪🏻
I would like a video about Pescara. They are in lower Serie B, and once had players like Immobile, Verratti, and Insigne
and the great Valeri Bojinov
Immobile & Insigne were only loans mind you

Palermo's former owner is a nutcase. I remember that year where he hired and fired 12+ managers in one season.

One of the great and unique kits in world football - would love to see them back in Serie A
The club actually disappeared in 2019 and was re-founded in Serie D.
They are actually Palermo FC now...
@Tommy Tunes how is it confusing? Or are you that stupid you think it stands for United States?? 🤔😂
