    • @lagofala
      @lagofala 4 роки тому +37

      He does have a knowledge of football. Problem is he is trying to profit off it. It has been proven many times that football is a money pit because of the nature of the whole system.
      The owners who can really earn money are usually those in closed leagues like they have in the US such as NFL, MLB and NBA.

    • @andrew7taylor
      @andrew7taylor 4 роки тому +24

      @@lagofala Selling everyone doesn't make any money except the very short term. But if you've bought a club, it's yours for the long term. So you might as well treat it as such, make money long-term and not behave like there's no tomorrow.
      Clubs that are making money outside of the PL buy players young, cheap and talented and sell them after they've helped them to trophies, matured and they're as expensive as they can get. Selling star players for peanuts won't make anyone rich.

    • @lagofala
      @lagofala 4 роки тому +13

      @@andrew7taylor
      Different owners buy for different reasons. Some for the short term, some for the long term. It's not true that buying a club means you will hang on to it for the long haul. I believe there is no legislation for this.
      Oil sheiks buy clubs as a political exercise as a way of diplomacy. Others owners buy clubs for prestige and as a very shiny toy or for money laundering.
      If you are trying to buy success to a big team, it's not going to be profitable. I believe its a chapter in Soccernomics
      Of course you can be a profitable small club and do what you are saying. But that's not what Peter Lim is trying to do. He is trying to buy a bigish club, try to big success and be profitable.
      Yes there will be clubs like Ajax but they are in the Dutch league. If they keep decimating their squad, it is unlikely they will consistently reach the UCL in the next 5-10 years.
      Valencia was obviously not Peter Lim's first choice. If he had his way he would have bought Liverpool.

    Such a sad state of affairs man. Not too long ago Valencia were genuine CL contenders and won La Liga. They're a proper big club imo, bigger than Atletico. I just don't understand how Peter Lim has such a bad track record with Valencia yet his English owned team Salford has actually been doing quite well thanks to his investment and moving up the ranks. Granted there's a huge difference in the expectations and sizes between the 2 clubs.
    Hopefully Peter can sell up to better owners who'd actually care about the club and they're able to remove most of their debt and maybe they can even move into their new stadium and attendance going back to 80k. This club needs a new lease of life. I sometimes feel greatful as a Liverpool fan compared to what Valencia fans have had to put up with.

      BN (co-founded by Singaporean entrepreneurs) offered 280 million for Newcastle.
      And there are many issues with this
      1) Mike Ashley had previously agreed to a 300 million from the Saudi- so there is no point offering a lower amount
      2) BN doctored many of their documents and publicity photo
      3) Nobody has heard about BN prior to this saga

    There are sooooo many clubs that should be bigger and better than they are. When you consider Newcastle got higher average attendances in the second division than Juve does in Serie A (even when they had the old delle Alpi with 69,000 capacity) it shows they should have a lot more silverware than they do.
    But they are far from the only ones, St Etienne, Valencia, Sevilla, Deportivo la Coruna, Napoli, Lazio, Frankfurt, Hertha Berlin, Strasbourg, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Torino, Hamburg there are loads of truly massive clubs that don't compete at the top of the leagues like they could do and 99.9% of it is bad management.

    To all Valencia fans as a Singaporean.
    I'm sorry you guys are being run by a businessman with little to no clue on how much football means to you guys. As the Irish Guy once said, football is the bedrock of many communities and for a club as storied as Valencia, it is such a shame that he is slowly running your club to the ground. Once again, I am sorry and I hope this will somehow get better for your sake.
