Apologies about the audio everyone! Our microphone wasn't recording during the reaction. Our reaction to Episode 3x3 is out now over on Patreon! www.patreon.com/carlie_and_ange
It's honestly not that noticeable,I find! There's a couple moments here and there, but not a huge issue. The intro to this video made me think it was going to be way worse, haha
I love that Sokka and Aang are both shown to be intelligent on their own at various times, but put them together, and they share exactly one brain cell.
About the party for the King's bear, it's a fun world building detail, all of the animals in the Avatar world are hybrids of real life animals, so when they heard just 'bear' they are confused The theory is that the people bred two kinds of hybrid-bears and got a perfect bear as a result, which in their world is extremely rare and of course the king would have it as a pet It's like a mermaid and a minotaur reproducing a perfect human 😂
There are actually other non-hybrid animals. Miyuki the cat is an example. However, with the exceptions of Miyuki and the bear, all non-hybrid animals are spirits (Wan Shi Tong's foxes, Hei Bai, Tui and La...). So I have this joke theory that Miyuki and the bear are just spirits who took on a mortal form.
I appreciate you guys keeping the original audio, these reactions were great. Both of you instantly yelling when you saw Jo Dee was great! The audio was understandable enough, so no worries about that.
Trivia time: Ba Sing Se is highly inspired by the capital of China, Beijing. China isn't the only influence for the Earth Kingdom, but it's a primary one. The Earth Palace is also inspired by the Forbidden City, which is fitting since its king was also sheltered and lied to.
Truth be told, the creators had to fight A LOT with Nickelodeon to get the version of the show we did, that’s why they declined be part of Korra and we all know how the writing suffered.
If the war stopped, the cheap refugee labor would disappear. I wonder how much that flows into the consideration of their passiveness towards the Fire Nation. They had 100 years to build their economy and probably part of their social class system on that.
Episode 14 is my favorite mayb of the whole Serie , because it's the one that shocked me the most. Ba Sing Se has been describe as a beacon of hope and it's a crazy authoritarian dystopia. Yet it makes so much sense I love how this book and city is the embodiment of Earth Bending. Earth Bending is all about control (opposite to air Freedom), about standing yourground, I love how diffrent bendings change people on an individual and societal scale, just like Toph isolated herself in her earthtent to deal with confrontation, Ba Sing Se in this era of crisis closed on itself denying the outside world as a reaction, and pushing internal control to crazy level.
Yep.. Ba Sing Se might be one of the darkest and chilling depictions in a kid's cartoon. Even my first time watching this show as a kid, I know it felt off.. I didn't know why I didn't like it, but I felt like hiding in my blanket forte and I had to continue watching under my blanket lol. Honestly, one of the biggest reasons why I love ATLA is it respects it's audience. Most of the show is there for kids to enjoy and have a good time. But that doesn't stop the writers from depictions and discussions that actual "Adult media" are too afraid to discuss
You guys are my favorite couple ❤ i found your channel because of arcane, and i watched arcane with yall like i didn't watched it 2 times already before that hahaha keep it up guys live from spain !
Maybe unpopular opinion but this (along with Lake Laogai) Is my favourite episode of the show. It's actually BECAUSE OF THIS arc that I started watching AoT. I was raving about this arc to my ex Gf and she recommended we watch AOT as it dabbles in the same themes.
@@He-Man00I wouldn't say mysteries but it's heavily focused on politics. One side of the war is pretty much like Ba Sing Se where they manipulate information for their own gain and have a secret force to ensure order
Sokka makes a good point, it's like their team is cursed no matter where they all go danger always has a way of finding them. plus sometimes they people they meet are either spies for the Fire Nation or for bounty hunters looking to collect the bounty from the Fire Lord for capturing Aang
Jet stood his own against an Airbending Avatar with his swords, I’d say he’s pretty good :) can you imagine how hard it would be to fight an Airbender with swords? Still, go Zuko!
Great job on the audio mixing, wouldn't have noticed that it was post editted in. The Ba Sing Se ep was a great representation of China's isolationist movement that created a huge disillusionment regarding its own culture and greatness, completely missing the fact that open trade assisted countries in sharing technology and wealth; China's close mindedness caused the country to fall behind. Similarly, Ba Sing Se shared that idea of cultural purity and was ignorant to how much the Fire Nation has advanced in decades. As we have seen in the Earth Kingdom, they have no industrialization that would be able to employ heavy steel production which similarly during WW2, China barely had steel production to even build a single battelship and was heavily outgeared vs the Japanese. Ba Sing Se also demonstrated the political and information manipulation that the higher ups employ to control its people within its borders that we see up to modern day CCP still utilizing to maintain its control.

Oh boss. We're at the episode...where we have to get ready for the NEXT episode. They're going to be complete messes of tears. And we, the viewers, are going to be holding back tears even though we've probably seen it a dozen times.
Hey I think you should watch “Tower of God” the characters are amazing, the story is peak. The whole show is absolute peak. And season 2 is coming out in a few days.
Please make sure things are working for next episode because it is one to remember. While typing this I realized that you were probably done recording next ep some time ago. :D
Hello, nice reactions! Some questions. I’m not sure but I assume the big bowl is for the birds. The birds, the food, the bowl and the house all belong to the man, yes? So Momo here is actually the one who invade their space and eat their food? To me, the birds are being harassed, no? They are just trying to get rid of Momo. And the dude with the glasses, he is afraid to speak whatever he wants, walking away nervously, not just him, also Pong and so on. Everyone lives with anxiety and even fear on a daily basis. A normal human being/citizen doesn’t deserves to live like this. If there is someone to blame, it is the government and system in my opinion. He is not telling the truth because most likely his life depends on it. It is great to be brave and selfless but not everyone has to be like that which is totally fine. Yes, it is about the fate of the whole world, but still, no one should be forced to be selfless and brave. The only thing is that they will face consequences of their choices. These are my humble opinions. Love to learn more.
Long fe is voiced by Clancy Brown. He’s done too many voices and Live Action roles for me to say them all. But yeah he does Mr.Krabbs and a bunch of other people
I like how Zuko’s previous experience with accidentally bending kept him from messing up now against Jet. Meanwhile Aang hasn’t had to worry about that so far, so once he airbends he just plays it up.

"Here we are free"
"There is no war within the walls"

I feel lucky you guys record the audio with your cam as well - it works as a nice back up for cases like this one. sooooooo: lucky us
I think the bear was purely comic relief tbh. Since all of the other animals are mixed breed.
There is no war in bai sing sei
is a classic meme. glad u guys get to learn it now.

Bear was just a bear, that's why it was strange, all the animals are a combination of 2 or 3 animals
"I ain't watching it, it's just a stupid kids show"
The kids show in question: *deals with war, genocide, dictatorship and today, indoctrination*
A one of a kind show. Unfortunately.
That's why they made it look like anime because a lot of anime for kids deal with similar themes
Just because the target audience is immature doesn't mean they're utterly incapable of understanding the general truth of nuanced subjects.
Kids shows tend to be a lot more mature and well thought out than 'adult' shows, but they get brushed aside by many so easily unfortunately
