Zuko and Jet fighting just make me laugh every time because Zuko has worked in the service industry for 2 days and has a legitimate reason to fight someone
And we love Zuko for that
12:10 she was replaced, it was another woman.
Fun fact about making tea:
The secret to a good cup of tea is often in the temperature of water that you use.
For a firebender, heating a pot of water wouldn’t be difficult- a few seconds of rage and you’d have it at a rolling boil- but a rolling boil would ruin the tea.
Jasmine, green and white tea tends to need between 160-180* F (71-82*C)- go any higher than that, and you’ll scald the leaves and wind up with bitter tea. Let it steep for too long, and it’ll scald anyway. So you can’t just boil the hell out of it and walk away; to be really good, a cup of tea needs a lower temperature and a softer flame. It needs patience and attention. And that’s where Uncle Iroh excels.
Still don't get the connection? Zuko never prepared a good cup of tea before because he was too impatient to heat it
properly and Iroh started working on that connection with Zuko right then and there.
Like literally after this the main plotpoint between these two is Iroh teaching Zuko how to be more patient/kind/open-minded while also teaching him how to properly work in the tea shop
Turns out those two were actually not just random meshing plotpoints but were a direct correlation.
For Jasmine tea, I wonder how that applies to using flowers as well as the leaves? The best Jasmine tea that I ever had was when I was living in Chengdu, China; probably the best tea that I've ever had in my life. I have to try to make it myself sometime.
@@Elurin jasmine is made by infusing tea with jasmine flowers. It's the same thing.
@@videohistory722 Did you mean that Jasmine Tea is made by infusing water with the leaves as well as the flowers? Your English skill seem to be lacking. You also seemed to be an expert on tea so I thought you would know the difference between leaves and flower, but it seems you don't.
@@Elurin never claimed to be an expert

Us, knowing what's coming: You really aren't.
Thinking back on how they started watching it like "Hey we heard that this kids show was really good and we want to watch that cute story unfold" to now "holy shit this is like hunger games and we need more" is absolutely awesome and seriously the best argument of why this is regarded as one of the best, if not the best animated series since the beginning of animation.
And somehow it STILL GETS BETTER.
It is voted the best animated tv show ever and is top 25 best tv shows ever.
Eh, Avatar's a very good show, but there have been animated series before and since that's at least as good with story and character development and better with romance.
This ep is a life changer. The "There's no war in Ba Sing Se" line is impossible to forget.
Because everyone is safe here

As a kid I thought the green fire in Long Feng's room was just a cool aesthetic. Now I realize that it is symbolic of how the Dai Li are just as vile and controlling as the Fire Nation but just have a different tint.
Zuko worked in the service industry for barely a day and he’s ready to throw down with rude customers.
Never say this show is too childish for adults.
"Hey guys welcome back to Diet Jesus" 😂😂😂
Joo Dee is designed after Avatar line producer Miken Wong, well known as one of the friendliest and smiliest Avatar staffers.
Interesting😅😅😅
I hope just visually or damn. Imagine watching g the show and seeing yourself as joo dee.
Fun fact, Long Fang is voiced by none other than Mr. Eugene Krabs. I mean Eugene's voice actor.
That would be Mr. Clancy Brown.
The hardest screw that ever did a turn at Shawshank prison. Clancy Brown is a legend.
@@thequit112 the Kurgan who's hunting Connor MacLeod of the clan MacLeod
Oh, that's crazy
"Joo Dee, me boy!"
I actually think being a Earth Bender that moves the trains around would be a badass job you get to be active you don't have to talk to people and you get to travel the whole ba sing sa. In the inner wall and the outer wall and they probably get paid pretty good because of how important those trains are
Most animals in the Avatar World are a combination of two or more animals.
A regular bear is extremely rare.
It's like being straight in a Netflix show.
@@ethanchandler2390good one.
That bear made an epic journey from our world, through the spirit world and into avatar world. Respect!
@@ethanchandler2390 Straight? Surely you mean bi...or pan...or demi
Worth it to point out that despite the humble position they find themselves in, uncle Iroh is thriving. It’s a simple life, but Iroh was able to get passports, jobs, and even a home by just making the best of where he’s at. Meanwhile, zuko wanting more and better constantly comes up short, and it fuels his discontent. Even jet, seeking nothing but aggravation, seems to be only fixated on Zuko and Iroh.
There’s nothing wrong with living simply.
It helps he got forged documents from his secret international cult
Well yes, Jett IS wrong; he's suffering from an inflated sense of self importance. He truly believes himself to be someone that the Fire Nation not only has noticed, but that they are intentionally persecuting him. He THINKS he's THAT important.
Shit take…Jet is troubled just as much if not worse than Zuko after witnessing his family burned to death. He has every right to call out the fact that there is fire nation undercover in the city. Use some critical thinking skills mate.
@@illuminate8321 Except Jett and Zuko aren't even close to being THE ONLY two people who have had shitty pasts. Second Jett is NOWHERE NEAR as traumatized as Zuko. Jett had a normal loving family. Zuko was hated by his own father and constantly mentally abused and broken down by his sister AND father at every opportunity. The fact that you'd actually put them in the same boat, let alone compare them is just sad. Also Jett is EXACTLY like that spoiled ass kid from Star Wars: Rebels. That nephew of the Admiral who believed his team of children could outsmart Thrawn. The one that thought small rinky dinky as cruisers were Star Destroyers. Jett had an overinflated ego, plain and simple. Yes his parents were killed by Fire Benders, but so was Katara's mother and oh I don't know EVERY AIR BENDER. But Aang isn't a self absorbed egotistical asshole. And neither is Katara. Also Jett doesn't KNOW for a fact if there are Fire Benders "undercover" as you said. He just doesn't CARE. It's Fire Nation, so they're responsible by THAT logic alone. It didn't matter that it was a civilian settlement, Jett didn't care. Even Sokka didn't think Jett was thinking straight. Even tried to call him out on it but Jett ignored him and invented a story just to keep his boys in line.
Funny how Toph complains about how Ba Sing Se is "a bunch of walls and rules" yet we all know what she becomes.
pretty ironic
Don’t be too critical of Joo Dee. There’s a reason behind her behavior 😢 . And I love her regardless 🥰
the thumbnail speaks volume XD
always amused that the automatical subtitles understand diegesis as diet jesus
Mentally preparing myself for next episode.
Can never prepare enough
🥺🥺🥺
We got this guys
I'm so glad yall are following this. It has special meaning to me. My daughter and I would make snacks and sit down together and watch every single episode when she was a child. Great bonding time. It holds a special place in my heart
This is where the show elevated to a whole different level (even though it already had a few times before this). This entire show builds until the final episode. Rare magic seen nowadays
In between the Outer Wall and the Inner Wall is the Agrarian Zone, land mostly used for farming
10:40 that reaction is priceless: the exact moment she wants to punch him in the face
10:47 The most terrifying thing about Long Feng is that he basically controls the entire city, the biggest one in Earth kingdom, so whatever happens in it...he only needs to send the Dai Li to "fix it"
"There is no war in Ba Sing Se" is Gaslighting 101
Why did it take me this Long Feng and Mr Krabs are voiced by the same actor?
also lex luthor
Originally, our group wasn't going to make it to Ba Sing Se until the very end of the season.
That would have been a disaster
I really appreciate the commentary you guys have. I'm glad that Arianna touched on the class divide, and the fact that there's literally an inner and outer wall separating them. It's what really elevates this show from being just a regular kids show. That's a pretty heavy topic for the show to bring up and make so explicit.
idk about hunger game vibes, I'd say more of a North Korea/1984 thought police kinda thing.
Yes, indeed.
4:42 This is the first time I ever noticed that you can see the extra section of string extending Irohs apron
Next episode, the most tear inducing episode of the series. We all know
Leaves from the vine...
Not for me, it has no effect on me.
Its just that anytime I watch that episode I have an incurable urge to prepare some onions.
The Royal Palace design was inspired by the Forbidden City in China.
The next episode is justly remembered as one of the most memorable. I'm sad I have to wait until next week!
God I LOVE this episode. It's one of my favorites of the series. All of the Ba Sing Se episodes in general rank high amongst my favorites, but this one in particular is extra good IMO. Great reaction!
Yeah, It's a "trend" I guess, when displaying ring-style walled in cities that the Cities are actually scores of KM's apart from each other. Theoretically between the outer and inner wall there could be as much as 50 Miles in length. It allows for vast farm lands and even huge forest ranges within a City. I mean just look at the schematic for Paradis Island in Attack on Titan. It could take as much as a few days to walk the entire perimeter of the outer-most wall.
Just an idea, but the walls of ba sing se can be compared to housing districts. Instead of walls, the federal, state, or local gov can block off poor people by making it almost impossible for them to ever financially afford to get out. Instead of cultural police brainwashing people, we have schools, phones. Then they add in drugs and other things that are easily addictive and almost all of the lower class never make it out of poverty and the middle class to true financial freedom. Or perhaps I’m just looking for an excuse as to why I don’t save more money. We may never know.
All hail Lord Momo!
You can separate ATLA two parts as Before Ba Sing Se and After Ba Sing se. From now on show gets bigger and bigger every episode. I wish to see your journey from now on.
I feel bad for jet as he is actually in the right, yes his methods are extreme but they have a ex military general and the prince that is very volatile still at this point so they do indeed have some dangerous ppl with in there walls , but as we have followed zuko and u Do stand him we do look over all the horrible things he still has conflicted on to others . So it’s ashame when ppl want jet to loose to zuko as he really did want to change but his trauma just got ahead of him again……. Just like katara
The nosey neighbor is named Pong.
In an earlier draft of the script, there was another neighbor named "Ping".
The writers thought it was funny to have two neighbors named Ping and Pong.
Apparently, it wasn't funny enough to stay in the script.
I'm so excited! This is when the show really elevates itself to another level.
always a good day when Maple & Ariana react to Avatar ❤️
I love horror movies but after watching Smile I was traumatized. I had a few people or family in my life who would smile at me a lot, while making eye contact, and I would have to tell them to stop because it would give me an anxiety attack. I had literal nightmares about my family just staring at me in the kitchen at me like that... *shudder*
There is no war in Ba Sing Se.
this ep sealed this show as NOT a kids show. the politics, the drama is even better than other shows that is about that.
Hope you have enough tissues for the next 2 episodes
Something i just realized:
Because of all the propaganda, the people that witnessed the jet vs zuko fight, probably just think hes racist
Man this show is the cartoon Breaking Bad. So damn perfect 😭 I remember having to wait an entire week for the next episode
Seeing Bosco is [darkly] hilarious because we see a bearskin rug in the episode with Bato.
Unfortunately, all those "fake things" reflect real things
Should watch Jackie chan Adventures
The war is an olen secret in ba sing se, everyone knows of it, but no one can acknowledge it, its double think where you know one thing but act as if it's not true.
There’s no tooth fairy, there’s no easter bunny, and there’s no war in Ba Sing Se
Closed caption: "welcome back to diet Jesus..."
This Long-Feng is really weirdo... Does he even want to win the war?
Ohh goodie. Episode 15. Ready the tissues.
Arianna looked like ju Dee.. when she smiles.. no offense 😆
Gotta love how intense things get
I mean u dont have to go to fantasy. This is china and north korea.

It's giving clockwork orange
sorry but i still jus hear "diet-jesus" everytime
This and the next two episodes are so intense. I never tire of watching them.
*what* is it giving hunger games, though?
There is no war in Ba Sing Se 😁
*Joo Dee appears*
“What is that?” 😂
Getting so damn good haha
@0:31 Just like labia.
Joo Dee was replaced.
Reminds me of another show, La Femme Nikita! 🤔 I wonder if that qualifies for spoiler protection considering it's age.
My prediction for the next episode: There will be tearbending.
