Not a spoiler at all, but that look mai gave to azula that you interpereted as her being in on a plot against zuko or working against him, was actually her glaring at azula because she was upset azula interrupted her and zukos time together
Imagine this from the Fire Nation kids' perspective. This new kid shows up, defies the teacher, stands up to the school bully, throws a party at his place and then escapes the authorities. He must've been a legend 😂
It makes it even better that the name Aang uses as his disguise is his old Fire Nation friend from before the hundred year war. Those kids will never stop talking about the legendary Kuzon, and I think Aang's friend would be proud.
@@ryanakers1372 good point, he didn't allow his friend's name to die in history/time because of his actions under the name Kuzon. It would be funny though if Aang came back to the school after the war and was like "Yeah that was me guys...gotcha"

@benlezmh1835 because he goes from being an extremely important and essential character to less than absolutely nothing of a character in a blink of an eye. And if that was cause the VA died then fair enough but if they wrote it that way that's ass and a half.
Notice how in the scenes with Iroh and Zuko it is zuko who is shown behind bars even though Iroh is the one in prison. Love this show so much, and this is one of my favorite episodes.
I think Iroh not speaking when Zuko asks for help is less of a weak moment for Iroh and more that he's realized that what Zuko needs most is to help himself. Zuko needs to come to terms with the decision he made, own it, and figure out how to move forward on his own if he's ever going to grow as a person. And I don't think he's crying because Zuko betrayed him--he's crying because he desperately does want to help him but knows that he can't.
Exactly! He's pushed and pulled Zuko towards truth and justice as much as he can. Sometimes parents have to let their kids make their own mistakes and hope all the lessons over all the years guides them in the right direction. But, it doesn't mean their isn't suffering on both sides.
Agree. I believe one of comments that Ange made that "Iroh has taught him [Zuko] everything he can" is correct. Zuko has chosen to obsess over the Avatar again and they've already been through that together and Zuko didn't listen then so why would he listen now when the advice will be the same. Another thing is that Zuko doesn't want a real conversation, he wants Iroh to affirm to him that he (Zuko) made the right decision. If Iroh won't reassure him on his decision, he wants to take out his self-hatred and anger out on Iroh that's why he tries to provoke Iroh to yell at him or argue with him so he can yell back, shift the blame to him, and justify his decision to betray him. This type of attention-seeking interaction that Zuko engages in is an interaction that Iroh is choosing not to engage in and not reinforce.
I so love how this show goes out of its way to establish that the Fire Nation itself isn't bad. Its citizens aren't evil, they've just been fed lies for a century. And the kids we saw in the school so far were actually pretty cool. It's really Sozin and others like Ozai who brainwashes them to propaganda and gives the Fire Nation a bad name.
What’s funny is Aang only knows fire nation lingo from 100 years ago, so him walking around calling people “Hotman” and saying “Stay flammin” is probably equivalent to a calling women “dames” or using words like “rapscallion” and “scallywag”… or using “fisticuffs” to describe a fist fight.

And the kids would have blindly followed without knowing any better. There is a quote from a fantasy book that I love that says “ it only takes one desperate generation to change history - even erase it” and it couldn’t be any more true
The way Aang tries to dispute it and is immediately rebuked because he "can't possibly know more than the official book". There's a school of thought in History called "New History" ("Nouvelle Histoire"), that rejects the idea that official documents are the only valid source of historical knowledge, precisely because it's so easy for a small group of people to rewrite what happened. In this school of thought, the documents should be taken into consideration, but so should the accounts of people who were there, because the way people perceive the events is important to understand what actually happened.
Azula was genuinely concerned for Zuko when she talked to him about visiting Iroh. She’s manipulative, and an absolute villain, but she still deep down cares about Zuko. You’ll see that in their interactions in a future episode. Also, Mai is not playing Zuko. She was pissed at Azula for interrupting their date, and suspicious of her motives for wanting to talk to Zuko alone. She’s probably Zuko’s biggest supporter after Iroh.
I never understand reactors worrying about aang and katara accidentally bending while dancing. Cause some of them really freak out during that scene. You guys are so much fun to watch
Fun fact: Aangs headband symbol is actually upside down & makes it look like his arrow on his head. Because if u look at the other characters in the episode showing the symbol it’s facing upward instead of downward like Aangs
Aangs chosen name for his student life was Kuzon. Awhile back when aang had saved zuko he mentions his friend from the fire nation, who was Kuzon. great callback but also kind of sad as his has prob passed away unlike the earth king.
I interpret Iroh's lack of speaking and tears during that scene as an amalgamation of his disappointment and sadness towards Zuko. Zuko has lost his way again and him visiting his uncle almost every night to express his "lost" self is painful for Iroh to see. But he knows he has to trust Zuko to find his own path. We've seen Iroh do this countless of times for Zuko throughout the series. He's let him freely self discover while still being at arm's length when situations that require him to step in arises. Iroh's such a great example of how to guide a child to self discovery and independence, even if they get lost countless of times. You just gotta love him ❤
And here we see another example of why I like em- Aang is showing Katara and these kids how to have fun, and for Katara and her life experience, this kind of freedom from responsibility is really important. Maybe I'm projecting a bit since I relate to her, but I think it's worth noting.
I think Iroh knows that nothing he could say would actually help Zuko at this moment. Iroh wnts to help Zuko because he loves him and part of Iroh probably probably feels guilty about not talking to Zuko. That being said Iroh knows that Zuko needs to work through his issues on his own this time.
I love Zuko and Mai they are cute and Mai actually glared at Azula you can tell she didn’t like Azula interrupting them especially with the comment she said before getting up and glaring at Azula when I heard it for the first time I was like yes Azula you made Mai mad and Zuko annoyed like me why are you interrupting them leave them alone.
i just don’t like kataraxzuko because they literally have never showed any romantic interest in each other lol only bonding over their trauma from the fire nation for about 10 mins before aang and iroh showed up. kataang works because it’s good to show kids there’s nothing wrong with starting a relationship off with a strong healthy friendship first.

Back in Book 1, after Zuko rescued Aang from Zhao in 'The Blue Spirit' episode, Aang mentioned one of his best friends from the Fire Nation was named Kuzon and the two of them would get in and out of so much trouble together. . . Now Aang takes on Kuzon's name as his disguise, stands up to the teachers, beats up the school bully, and holds a secret dance party before disappearing into the night. The legend of Kuzon will live on, and I think Aang's friend would be proud!
I’m so excited for you to see literally every episode until the end, they’re all so good!! I hope you do Korra too, don’t listen to the haters, it’s has its own special journey, and I know you’ll love it!
Iroh had no regrets or guilt at all. The reason Iroh stayed silent and cried afterwards was because he genuinely wanted to respond to Zuko and help him, but he had to stop himself (even though Zuko was pleading for help). Iroh had to force himself to stay quiet and pretend to reject Zuko. THAT is what hurt Iroh the most. He spent years giving Zuko so much wisdom but none of it mattered. In the end Zuko's change had to come from within, not from Iroh, and in order for that to happen Iroh realized he had to stay silent and let Zuko suffer alone through all the inner turmoil and anguish necessary.
This episode is often compared to Footloose, which makes the title an appropriate inversion ("Foot"/"Head", "Loose"/"Band"). Don't know if that was intentional since the title works fine on its own as it's what the school kids knew Aang by and visually followed his way by wearing them as a distraction for him.
That is thing always found funny about shipping in a show like this. Katara and Zuko are written to be interesting and like able characters. But Aang is literally written to have all the chemistry and romance with Katara that Zuko doesn't make any sense to be an option. At least in other shows when not blatant written couples like Toradora from beginning all the characters are given some romance and chemistry. Then could make argument for who should have a chance.
I always took Iroh not speaking here to not be out of malice or even because he was betrayed by Zuko, but because Zuko has come to him for advice and for YEARS Iroh gave it to him- gently and subtly guiding him in a way to let Zuko be his best self and when the moment of truth came, it didn't pan out and in fact backfired in the worst way. Iroh knows that Zuko MUST come to the right path on his own and that if he coddles Zuko in this moment by giving him the advice and validation he wants, Zuko may end up worst for it. I mean, why should he expect Zuko to take his advice to heart now? Sometimes you just gotta let your mentee flounder around a bit and try to save themselves.
These Avatar uploads have been the highlight of my days lately. Thank you guys for giving me a new way to enjoy my favorite show. Please watch Korra after ❤️ Shes bad***

I think Azula was being honest with Zuko and her warning. Not for his sake but for her own, she doesn't want him conspiring with Iroh and possibly losing her control over him. I think she would honestly prefer to keep Zuko and Mai as little dolls in her fire nation doll house, under her thumb. Just my opinion.

Now Aang takes on Kuzon's name as his disguise, stands up to the teachers, beats up the school bully, and holds a secret dance party before disappearing into the night. The legend of Kuzon will live on, and I think Aang's friend would be proud!
Kuzon was Aang's friend from Fire Nation 100 years ago.
Remember when he talked to Zuko in the cave in North Water Tribe?
Schoolboy Aang was HIM 🤣🔥
Lol Carlie's tongue theory is hilarious
You two this episode were so fricken funny omg I was dying the whole time 😂😂😂
I’m so excited for you to see literally every episode until the end, they’re all so good!!
I Just remembered that this episode is likely Foot Loose.😂
Those birds are not Toucans they are Puffins. ^^ Adorable ones.
Everytime I see that Zuko and Mai scene I'm always like "damn, the bar is at I don't hate you."
Sokka, missed opportunity for the "Wang Fire" joke
I think no one’s mentioned it. Boy at 5:40 was the same one who helped Appa back in season 2 when he was at the circus.
Iroh is not speaking to Zuko because there's nothing more to teach him. It's up to Zuko to make his own choices now.
Great reaction!
1:48 "They're toucans!!!" Oh, bless... no, honey. Pretty sure those are based on puffins. XD
And i cool, but sokka. Sokka rizz is next level. Rizz moon gods and blind woman
i quote dante basco when i say this but "theres some good people in the fire nation"
been waiting for this episode
These Avatar uploads have been the highlight of my days lately. Thank you guys for giving me a new way to enjoy my favorite show. Please watch Korra after ❤️ Shes bad***
I was SO waiting for that reaction, it’s my favorite episode. I gotta say I really like your channel, probably one of the best reaction channels out there. I see you are approaching the finale, hopefully you guys like it!
Thanks so much!
I think you mistook Mai's look at Azula. That look was more annoyance she interrupted them.
Back to back great episodes
That side eye was for Azula
Sokka was born to be Wang Fire.
NOT SAPHIRE FIRE
Guys I love your reactions
This is Kuzon
Everyone gangster untill Uncle Iroh gets upset
Its time for Zuko to learn his own lessons, without being spoodfed by iroh
Out of all the reactors I've seen, no one came close to my facial expression to every scene as Carlie's 🤣
Girl you're the funniest 😆
Cyclops Flamey McGibbons is Sparky Sparky Boom Man. ❤
