I use some of my old Army cadet training in HLL. If you are running across an open field, I use the 'I'm up, they've seen me, I'm down' rule. So you basically stand up whilst saying that and by the time you've finished you should be going prone. Then try and move sideways a bit, and repeat, it does really work. Also another tip, if you are being shot at in tall grass go prone and wait as many players will assume they have killed you. Not always the case for both tips especially when playing against vets but I find these to be really useful
The suggestion to just wait sometimes is underrated. It's especially effective if you are running to cover and are hit right as entering cover. If you just stay down behind cover for a good 30 seconds, the enemy often moves on, or shifts their aim elsewhere. You can either slip away or return the favor by putting a bullet in them when they thought you were dead.
People like you guys are the reason I got smarter. If I don’t see that body rigid and cold I’m not looking away. One thing that works well is using cover like trees to block line of sight while you close/create distance. SUPER useful in gunfights for breaking contact or pushing a position
I do this constantly. I think of it like the enemy has a laser pointer on my chest. How can approach a position without that laser on me? Always looking to put something between me and the enemy.
I’m no Vet but when I’m approaching through the forest I always keep a tree Directly in front and I’m moving at a snails pace. It’s common sense too Only random grenades or artillery fire are my enemies
Regarding slicing the pie: STAY BACK FROM THE CORNER\WINDOW. Keep a few feet back, and the chance of the enemy seeing your big-ass forhead as you're peeking around before you can see him is GREATLY reduced.
That's true. I probably should practice that more in-game as that's how it works/is taught in real life. Kinda like windows. Don't stick your gun out the window. Stay a few feet back from the window, and behind cover if possible.

Hit the deck (non negotiable). Throw smoke if you got them. Return fire if possible. Just shoot in the direction of the enemy. Don't try to kill. Suppress. Survive. Find cover and concealment.
but in some cases it's better to get the attention of enemies as MG so your guys can push across a field or whatever. plus if you got hitler's buzzsaw you should be able to shoot for long enough to make it very difficult for enemies to get a shot off at you without getting peppered by you first.
Not at all, the goal is to achieve fire supremacy and keep the enemies head down. Fire for too long and you overheat your barrel and become a big target (irl) in game just do whatever you need to cover teammates 💪
@groyperfuhr4871 want to be burst firing with every fully automatic weapon. Unless your "crap british" MG comment was a joke (The bren and vickers are still in service around the world) I would suggest you learn some actual weapon history would maybe steer you away from the "its british so it must be bad" train of thought
@@onebritishboi9892 it wasn't a joke, the brit weapons ingame are trash. so it makes sense that you have to compensate by burst firing. I main the german weapons and I have no such issue with accuracy and my boys appreciate the constant cover fire.
Often times if I take fire in the open, if I get hit but I don’t die, I hit the dirt as fast as I can react to recognizing getting hit but not killed, that way, I just pray to God they think they killed me, I sit still until I’m not under fire anymore, and then bandage myself, works more often than not for me
In the military they teach you "react to contact, go prone, get on line, then assess, all while maintaining fire. (Get on line so you can maximize fire towards the enemy, and so you don't shoot your buddy in the back of the head.
All this is good, but I think the one more important thing is proper routing and positioning. I've noticed most people go through routes that have little to no cover or too many locations to get shot from. It's much easier to identify where shots are coming from and take good cover if there are only so many viable angles of attack. Now there are many factors to account for for this, but the basics are dont run in the open if you don't have to, dont run down corridors/streets with no cover if you don't have to, and pick areas which have good cover or concealment to possible firing positions. Also as a side note, if you're going to slice as you peak around cover, step away from your cover as you do it. Your barrel will stick out before you can even peak if you hug your wall/window like that. It seems trivial, but it's really easy for someone to notice your barrel and wait for you to peak. In addition, when you do fire it limits those who will see your muzzle flash to those you can actually shoot, microinteractions like this go a long way in making you harder to locate and kill
I completely agree with everything you just said. The aim of this particular video was to help people learn how to react when already taking fire which is a position that newcomers as you pointed out often find themselves in due to being in poor positioning and making poor choices as far as where they are on the map and how they approach a strong point. Of course the most ideal scenario is to avoid being in that situation in the first place, which is something I touch on in several of my role guides but perhaps would make a good dedicated video as well. Thank you!
I just shoot back. Hip fire in the general direction while trying to get some kind of cover. It doesn't really work, but I try to give the enemy something to think about
It does work if you are with your squad and everyone just unloads into that assumed enemy position. It's called fire superiority, where you gain control over the gunfight with sheer volume of fire/ supression.

Outstanding video from Soul, as usual. Nothing groundbreaking here, but takes a lot of information that comes at you in a span of about 3 or 4 seconds and breaks it down it clear to follow steps. Even at level 206 it's sometimes hard for me to keep a clear head when I'm taking fire, vision is blurring, the red hit indicator is lighting up, and I'm trying to make it to the closest cover👍.
Just played a game of HLL, saw one of my buddies get taken down, first instinct was to duck but then I remembered this video so I got behind cover, got 2 kills out of it. Thank you Soul!
Context of your situation is important as well but blends with the basics you’ve outlined here. i think something people forget is that in HLL your life is worthless unless you are attacking an enemy garrison, or defending/patrolling yours. FIRE YOUR RIFLE, you’d be surprised what general suppression of a suspected enemy stronghold can do!
I agree. It's all very situational but generally speaking firing back is a good idea as long as you have a decent idea of where the enemy is. Otherwise you're pretty much just flailing and making yourself that much more visible to the rest of the enemies nearby.
Here I am again, I don't play this game and this is yet another educational video describing what the heck to do in any shooter. Scenario one: noob gets shot, spends useless time spinning in circles trying to find the enemy, and not taking cover/dodging enemy fire then dies "what the fuck! Where?! How?!" Scenario two: an aware player gets shot at with the same exact pattern, ducks or jumps out of the way and takes quick peeks to *identify, assess and react.* If this player was a xMLGx420xx gamer, he'd kill them with a single retaliatory peek
One little strategy I've learnt is that sometimes you can win a firefight just by being patient. If you're part of a larger firefight, and you get fired upon by the enemy, finding some cover and letting them magnetize their attention upon you might turn your hovel into a bullet magnet but it also gives your team more leeway to take their own positions and pick off the enemies that are aware of your position. Given enough time, the enemies focused on you will naturally either be killed or have their attention diverted and you'll now be in an ideal position to make your next move.

6:12 when i got shot in an open field, i lay down and stop all movemant, no healing, no reloding. Usually they stop fire at you because they think you are dead.
Another tip I have found is that usualy if your are not trying to sneak behind enemy lines and your shot for example on an open field you can always shoot randomly at the place you got shoot the enemy will surely try to stay behind cover even if you did not managed to saw him giving you some precius seconds to take cover and heal if neccesary works very well
Remember kids RTR. Return fire, take cover ,return accurate fire. Or u can give a addrac- alert ,direction, Description, range ,assignment ,control “CONTACT(give direction in or around where ever ur taking fire from)200m out. Then u assign ur men. MGS OPEN UP WITH TALKING GUNS THE REST OPEN UP 1 EVERY 3 AND PREP TO FIRE AND MOVE(I’m up he sees me I’m down) Then control ur squad. MGS ARE SET 1st team move up,MGS KEEP ON WITH SUPPRESSION. Once uve located closed with and destroyed the enemy. Give safe( security ,auto weapons on fields of fire, entrenchment) then give ace( ammo casualties equipment report) then repeat cycle.

Hey Soul! i got the game on free week, and i loved your guides! They really helped me alot, and taught me how to communicate with my teammates alot better! So in that case, im going to buy it now. But something im a bit bummed out about, is that you dont have a guide on my favorite role in the game, a tanker. So would it be possible if you could make a tanker role video?
I'm thrilled to hear that dude! To be honest, I'm not a tank guy myself, so I don't fancy myself an expert. Actually, full transparency, I've never even tanked in HLL! Having said that, others have asked as well, and I have some very good tankers in my discord who could be the source of knowledge for me to put together a good guide. It's on my list!
For me I go probe regularly when running in the open, and I try my best to stay behind something. When I’m taking fire and they’re farther away I drop immediately and they usually think I was killed. And I patiently wait for them to confirm the kill or feel safe enough to peek and hit him when he’s not looking. Even the smallest of mounds or change of elevation can be just enough to drop and disappear on them.
Here's a tip for peeking/clearing corners: instead of standing up straight and strafing the corner, right as you're about to become visible, LEAN OUT. It's a small burst of speed that lets you use peeker's advantage even more. Also, unless you're trying to be sneaky, prefire once at hip height, and once at shoulder height. If they're crouched, headshot or upper torso. If they're standing normally, abdomen, and they're still down. if they're standing and leaned around the corner, the second shot should hit them if your aim is good enough. Also, when clearing a corner, STAND BACK. You have the same amount of cover, and you see more for exposing yourself less.
Calling out the 3 Ds will help your squad suppress them more effectively. When crossing open fields under fire use “I’m up, he sees me I’m down,” to time your alternation between full probe and sprint.
I noticed that in some situations, when you get hit in the open and just lay down instantly without your rifle out and do not move. They sometimes think they got you.
The hit direction indicator is bunk alot of the time. Sometimes it shows you being hit from the opposite direction of the incoming fire. Not sure what's causing it. Great video as always!
6:36 I had a game today where an enemy mg was right on the other side of a small wall from me just UNLOADING at me in hipfire and I just kept taking pops at him with my kar98 from up then right then finally left I’m sure some luck and lack of skill on his part is why I lived but he’s definitely right in the video😂
I use this system with Insurgency sandstorm is it worth the push ? No ima break contact call for closs air support and then push right and left in L formations once you have 2 fire teams using L shapes you can move on the other team
Philipp Weritz always love your videos sniper, especially your guides. Have you thought about making a guide how this cycle of "commander drops supplies, engineer builds stuff that in turn helps commander" works? I feel like lots of people dont understand the absolute importance of this, and I havent found a video that explains the connection between nodes, supplies, what the commander needs and how this influences strategy like garrisons, more/less tanks being spawned etc.
This is something I talked about in both my Engineer guide and my Commander guide. Probably stressed it more in the Commander video because anyone whose ever been stuck playing commander with no nodes knows how much it sucks lol. I appreciate the kind words dude!
Even if you don't play commander it's a really helpful video as it helps you understand the game from their viewpoint and therefore helps you better understand how you can help them and the team. Nodes are an excellent example. If you're an SL and the commander asks for someone to build nodes, you can stress the importance of it to your squad and ensure it gets done. Or if you're just a rifleman, you can speak up if you notice nobody is building nodes and switch to Engineer to get it done.
"Follow the pointers!" Usually if i ever see a pointer the 0.5 i'm also dead but most of the time i don't even see a pointer cuz i get killed instantly!
Sometimes, the enemy comes pretty close to you from behind, and you can't do anything in that situation. Maybe practice hearing to alert you to potential incoming enemies early.
I'm level 12 and starting to grasp this game but still a relative noob. How do you ping targets without bringing up the map (ps5) love this game and plan on building up tank crewman (made a Facebook page too!) Hell let loose tanks UK and Ireland

Hey thank you bud! More to come!
6:12 when i got shot in an open field, i lay down and stop all movemant, no healing, no reloding. Usually they stop fire at you because they think you are dead.
This is fairly sound advice all across the board, definitely plan on using this in my next BF1 game!
Another tip I have found is that usualy if your are not trying to sneak behind enemy lines and your shot for example on an open field you can always shoot randomly at the place you got shoot the enemy will surely try to stay behind cover even if you did not managed to saw him giving you some precius seconds to take cover and heal if neccesary works very well
The CORRECT way to react to being shot at:
LEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOY... JEEEEEEEEEEENKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNSSS!!!
Fair. I've wasted everyone's time!
Love the advice but I feel your expecting random players who often don't use their big boy/girl voice to know or have an idea of basic milsim tactics.. at least there is hope I suppose lol
@@crankywombat2598 lol we was talking tactics so I figured I could throw wat I’ve learned in😂. I use these tactics in game and in real life and they work. Just putting it out there incase anyone wanted it
Hey Soul! i got the game on free week, and i loved your guides!
Great and informative. Thank you.
Glad to hear it, thanks for watching!
I’ve not played this game, but every one of your videos are engaging AF.
Lol big compliment! Thanks man!
@@SoulSniperYT
You’re welcome, bro. 😎👍🏼
Thanks for replying.
Also shots have different sounds. Cracks are general gunfire. Snaps are gunfire near you that’s hitting close and whizzes are AT YOU.
Thanks man, your videos have been so helpful as a new player
Glad to hear that! Thanks man :)
I always learn to survive, of Hell let loose. And I won’t get angry. I’m enjoying his play the video game
It's funny how much the stuff i learned in the infantry translates to this game, what an experience
Calling out the 3 Ds will help your squad suppress them more effectively. When crossing open fields under fire use “I’m up, he sees me I’m down,” to time your alternation between full probe and sprint.
Sometimes dropping and playing dead works. Not every time but its on 3 or 4 occassions worked. But as said Assess
I do that sometimes!
I noticed that in some situations, when you get hit in the open and just lay down instantly without your rifle out and do not move. They sometimes think they got you.
I find these methods translate well into other situations such as large-map Battlefield 4 matches.
3:33 "A few shot in order to take you out" proceeds to headphones the dude 😂
I have used the tactic of going prone and not moving to play dead and had luck fairly often if the shots are medium to long range
Identify: getting shot at
Assess: you have died screen
React: Spawn back and do it again
You're not wrong! Ha ha
These tricks are also good for other shooter games like Squad
Great tips mate, thank you! 👍🏻
I'm up. He sees me. I'm down
Is it wierd that I panic when I don't get shot at?
Yes, freak!
I can't help you there bud
That's the type of panic that causes a TK haha
The hit direction indicator is bunk alot of the time. Sometimes it shows you being hit from the opposite direction of the incoming fire.
Not sure what's causing it.
Great video as always!
OODA Loop, observe, orient, decide, act
6:36 I had a game today where an enemy mg was right on the other side of a small wall from me just UNLOADING at me in hipfire and I just kept taking pops at him with my kar98 from up then right then finally left I’m sure some luck and lack of skill on his part is why I lived but he’s definitely right in the video😂
Be unpredictable. It works!
Appreciate the tips!
Love your videos, not sure if it’s been pointed out before, but you sound like the “How It’s Made” guy lol
You are not the first person to say that! Lol
Another banger of a video
Thanks bud!
As a Squad player, i can tell this is laugh. You have so many things that help you to know position of the enemy i HLL.
Yea it's not quite as realism based as Squad or Post Scriptum. That's a fair assessment.
I use this system with Insurgency sandstorm is it worth the push ? No ima break contact call for closs air support and then push right and left in L formations once you have 2 fire teams using L shapes you can move on the other team
There's an animation on console when your shooting at some 1 and they hit prone it can look like you have hit them been caught a few times by that lol
Philipp Weritz
always love your videos sniper, especially your guides.
@@SoulSniperYT only guide I haven't seen yet cause too nooby haha. Thanks! Gonna have a look
I have bought this game for console, even so I found the quality of the game impressive, it reminds me a lot of Medal of Honor and Band Of Bothers
This game keeps my OODA loop thrown off.
"Follow the pointers!" Usually if i ever see a pointer the 0.5 i'm also dead but most of the time i don't even see a pointer cuz i get killed instantly!
In the actual military you reach to contact by returning fire then finding cover then reassessing the situation
Makes sense
But how do you indentify the enemy position to return fire?
This are excellent fps advice in general.
Usually in that game I’m already dead before anyone even able to identify where fire coming from
It takes a bit of experience to become decent at this skill.
try to move lower on the map. try to be seen the absolute least amount possible and don't push to far unless you know what you are getting into.
Sometimes, the enemy comes pretty close to you from behind, and you can't do anything in that situation. Maybe practice hearing to alert you to potential incoming enemies early.
Well I've definitely been immediately going prone 🤣🤣
What sucks is i know how to identify distance and direction of incoming fire IRL but i suck at it in this game bc i dont know the maps yet
It's called I'm up he sees me I'm down...
Army taught me
lol I rage a lot when I die 5 times in a row thanks for this video gonna see how I can improve
The vid I'm working on now should help as well.
I'm level 12 and starting to grasp this game but still a relative noob. How do you ping targets without bringing up the map (ps5) love this game and plan on building up tank crewman (made a Facebook page too!) Hell let loose tanks UK and Ireland
Return Fire - Take Cover - Return Accurate Fire
I don't panic when getting shot at. If anything it kinda pisses me off
small nitpick I'm sorry, but the machine guns available in the loadouts are not heavy machine guns.
Honestly, I see that red hit indicator in my dreams. And my waking nightmares..
It's your friend!
follow the most common phrase in ww2 stay out in the open keep and keep your headdown!
i make sure i only take water
That's a whole other guide! ;)
Does anyone know if they plan to bring crossplay with pc eventually a love this game but watching pc players seem to be more into the game than the Xbox n ps like communication is shocking on xbox and for joining a team that has no team leader or they just don't bother av downloaded the discord but am fucking auld n a don't get how to use it to get a few good Xbox or ps players that actually like the game
Hello soul, nice channel. Can you please make an updated Anti tank guide because of the new lend lease loadout for the soviets and at some point make a an updated support guide because of the new flamethrower, as well as edit the title and add the word “outdated” to the outdated tutorial videos? Thank you for making helpful videos.
I want to love this game, I'm playing it non stop right now trying to learn. But damn it man, if I'm not getting dropped from a country mile by an enemy I'm getting team killed by kids coming around a corner blasting anything that moves. I just quit a server where I played for 13 minutes and died 4 times all of them team killed. I just don't get it, it's frustrating as fuck
Seems like a synonym for the ooda loop lol
these guides can be work even in other games
Calling an BAR and an STG44 as a sub machinegun, kills my brain cells and I don't have too much of them
Hmm..I didn't say that. Watch it again?
I've never played HLL but still see this shit as viable for DayZ
It applies to most shooters for sure.
I played this briefly. I saw a lot of bullet impacts. Never really saw where they were coming from 😅
Where the bullets impacting your chest and head? Lol
@@SoulSniperYT repeatedly lol
Sounds about right!
@@SoulSniperYT I should give it another go 👍
All hail trap 32!
Bless!
dash - down - crawl - observe - sights - fire :)
Trouble is, when the other guy has 1000+ hours you usually just die on the spot
Sorry about that :)
Playing against these player, they were kind of learned the map by heart and it really hard to out manoeuvre them.
Seek cover and return fire?
