Nice to see another Daytona Special being saved, here in the UK these machines are hard to find and are only getting rarer by the year sadly, Ace Driver Victory Lap is another great namco classic that is well overdue a rerelease these days. Any update on your Winning Run machine from a few year back? Thanks for the vids.
There’s a Daytona still in operation in fantasy island ingoldmells, Skegness arcade but not without its faults such as lack of feedback from steering and motion seats not working.
I wanted to grab Victory Lap as well but I'm short on space, mainly because I have too many Daytonas! Didn't feel good not grabbing it. He also had a working Rail Chase 2, which thankfully somebody bought before I did, because I definitely would have bought that even though I already have one, hah. I actually just missed a Winning Run board set that was on ebay a couple months ago. I hope the buyer of it has a cabinet to put it into, because if it's going into a PCB collection that would be unfortunate. Only seems to be 4 or 5 DXs left from what I've seen, mostly in AU.
@@propcycle I do hope someone saves victory lap. They’re much harder to come across than Daytona but then the deluxe model is too, especially 8 players.
I hope you manage to save Daytona and victory lap. They have a victory lap still running in an arcade in lanzarote before covid pandemic struck at least but unfortunately the screens were replaced with lcd like most of the old games are now. There is still a Daytona that’s still in operation in fantasy island ingoldmells, Skegness arcade in the U.K. but again the screens are replaced but the mechanical elements don’t allow the motion seats to work even though you can hear them trying to operate normal, plus some of the steering isn’t as good and has lack of force feedback.
I've never seen one in operation since they were a couple years old with working air systems. Apparently I'm the only person that ever figured it out, because they are so simple to repair and ALL air system parts are still easily available from SMC and CKD, so why not keep your awesome game tip-top? ...nobody ever bothered, though. Only the upper "bump" cylinders usually operate at all because the lower cyl's "quick breathe" valves wear out and clog everything up, along with the air exhaust silencers. The clicking sounds you hear are the 6 air valves firing, but if things are clogged up, nothing much will happen. The cyl's end seals also wear out and leak, but they're $5/ea and easy to swap.
Nice! Just looked it up and they have an old D&B machine (seat covers still installed) and what looks like a working air system. Only enthusiast-owned joints will ever maintain a game like this - it isn't hard, you just need to care. Looks like a great spot. Barcade in Los Angeles (Highland Park) has a restored 4p running CRT projection, but without the camera system for now. Eventually there will be enough room for a full 8p somewhere, but LCD will probably be necessary unless I can stockpile enough CRTs to change them every couple years.
@@propcycle There are some guides out there on how to put a modern short throw DLP projector into the rear-projection housings. Pretty sure thats what boss battle did.
Whats up, i wanted to ask about a realllly old video on your channel. Its the only video i can find of the sega speed soccer arcade machine, and ive just found a listing for one in not great condition but working for around 500$, wanted to ask your opinion if its a good price and if the game is any fun/replayable since its impossible to find almost anything else online.
This was Oct, 2020. Their landlord wanted them to pay full rent while closed, so they were basically strong-armed into shutting down. They didn't want to.
Very informative video! Random question, but I was wondering if you ever encountered a Namco Ridge Racer Full Scale?
In the UK we not sold that many Daytona (USAs) but board repair is a problem now - awesome find imo. . first time i seen the 8 player

Mr Pickles wasn’t the one in skegness just 4 players? If i remember rightly theres a working 8 player up in rhyl thats still there
@@XxRAND0MxG4M3RzZ yes it’s just 4 player I think. Didn’t come across an 8 player Daytona when I went to Rhyl 5 years ago nearly.

i so desperately want one of these but i don't have the space... how you've managed to locate another is beyond me

Propcycle, were you familiar with the Gameworks produced game, Sky Pirates. I would love to buy one and restore it, but I'm not sure any exist??
Hello Sir, do you still have these machines? I am looking to get some help with restore, are you contactable for some questions.
Boss Battle Games in Indiana has one in operation.

God damn seeing the place in such a state makes me so sad. Are they closing down for good?

@@propcycle Damn. As if the arcade business wasn't having a tough enough time already!
Do you know where it ended up? I'm kind of interested in saving this game.
Yes. I own it. I have a few Daytona Specials. This one will be out there for public play again eventually.
@@propcycle If you would run into another set and would not want it - I would be glad to buyout it. Or any other rare jumbo games.
