I love how they spent Saracin's Jr. and Sr. season acting like he couldn't play QB after he led them to a state title as a Soph.
My personal opinion, one of my favorite characters, but, because Matt was more of an underdog, with boosters like Buddy… They wanted the Panthers to be the dominating team in the league. And so they didn’t care that Saracen lead them to a state title. All they focused on was the fact that majority of the wins the panthers had with Matt at QB were usually narrow wins. But the boosters, like Buddy, wanted the Panthers to shut out all of their opponents.
Aight I’m from a small town in Texas called wichita. This shit is real. We made 2 rounds deep in the playoffs loosing to brownwood (who was b2b state champs at that time and we’re blowing people out by 20+). Our Qb who had just become a senior, who like I said, went to a almost perfect season with the exception of one loss before playoffs and keeping us within a score of beating b2b champs (also his sophmore year we only lost one game but lost to brownwood that year in the playoffs as well) got benched for a sophomore because a new coach came in, the crowd felt different about this sophomore and he got the start all year. We won 3 games....
He was average. Riggins and Smash won them that state title. You line up the other QB’s from all the seasons and he’s last on the totem pole without question even though McCoy and Voodoo were a-holes
They didn't seem to have problems with him as a Junior. Senior year, JD was just better
@@TClutchLee3 they didn’t have a problem bc they built the offense around an “all-American” RB in Smash. Saracen was a game manager and that works as long as you got the horses. Smash leaves and that’s no longer good enough

Matt Saracen could lead the Panthers to back to back State Championships and they would still switch up on him when JD Mcoy entered in season 3.
Always felt bad the defense never got much respect in this show. They shut this team out, yet "Smash carried the team on his back."

By the way he looked and acted, Coach McGregor always reminded me of Barry Switzer when he took over those great Dallas Cowboy teams in the mid nineties.
Or what howard schnellenberger did with the sooners.
When he called Street the team mascot I wanted to jump through the screen and fight that guy.
If you had a son who played football, you'd want him to play for Coach Taylor.

That head coach for Dillon, the actor that plays him was also in Radio. He portrayed an arrogant snotty rich father in the movie and in this movie, well he may not be a rich father but he's still a stuck up, arrogant character

I never liked the new coach, but Jason picked a bad time to give advice. That sort of stuff comes during practice and meetings.

Idk man if you’re just running the exact same play over and over again and getting stuffed, turning the ball over and shit I would expect another coach to have something to say. Idc if it’s the offensive line coach somebody’s gotta see that and say something to the man.

I'm sorry but people in the comment section forget that they were pissed that smash Williams because he just wanted to play football it wasn't about Coach it wasn't about anybody else it was about playing football and that's why these boys were scrubs because they didn't love the game they would sacrifice the game for the love of the coach and coach knows you never sacrifice the game for nobody

Matt overreacted because of his own insecurities. Smash did nothing wrong he thought everything was all good. Matt is the one who attacked him because he was jealous
