Fabulous! My son taught himself to play the bass when he was 13. His first song was "Money" by Pink Floyd, that he played by ear. I told him he should listen to your music and watch you play. Love your music!
Eric... Man.. you are just one of my favorite bass players. I'm a philosopher and I've played bass for 13 years (not so goodl) but people like you man, keep me charmed with all kinds of music, bass playing and good things in life... . Greetings from Colombia.
I used to call myself a bass player...at least for the past 40 years...Now I'm not so sure that I would make that claim after watching all the EC videos...fantastic ! Johnny McNair...Albany Georgia
i really liked the video...i'm a musician my self and you had so much energy and emotion it was completely awesome....i enjoyed it....i wish i could play like that..amazing...
Eric has really helped my tapping A LOT! I feel as though I am an above average bassist -- I have been doing it for over 20 years -- but when I first seen Eric play, I was humbled, to say the least!
One thing that jumps out at me about this piece is the use of effects that are sensitive to dynamics e.g. the filter. That means that you have to keep the dynamics of your picking under control to get the right sound, and doing it at those speeds is not a trivial job. So major kudos right there, on top of the positive comments from others here!
Hi eric is the 16th note rhythm your playing at the start all in your right hand or is there also some kind of delay effect or something? Very cool never seen anything quite like. Thanks for another amazing and inspiring video dude.
two remarks. (1) when i listen to this on my car stereo (regular subaru impreza) the moment @1:08 the second bass seems to open up --- wowoweewa!!! blows you right back, what a TRIP soundscape wise. what an ingenious and enjoyable piece!! (2) due to disability i play bass left handed only - so i do watch with great interest how you work your first (second?) string with your left hand starting after @1:49 .. not just that it sounds sustained, but there is a structure in sustain/decay. GAWD!!!
This is amazing. As a bass player myself, you are such an inspiration to become better so that someday maybe I can be such a great bassist. Keep up the incredible work!
I, too, love interlacing thumb slapping with three finger triplets/sextuplets, but your tapping and hammering techniques are fricking amazing compared to what I could do! A lot of bassist can do these techniques, but very few can pull off doing all of them in one song!
Wow. First saw Eric playing "Had to cry today" with Joe Bonamassa. Hated it.... Eric was not LOUD enough, JB was too loud... maybe it was the mix but wow, I sure as hell looked Eric up on the interweb... amazing player !
@rage1331 I guess it just utilizes multiple fingers to tap a single or couple of frets, sorta tapping tremolo, ain't that hard to achieve. Just got scary looks :D

I LOVE the left hand tremolo technique you have for the bassline after 2:00 - always great to see chops and musicality combined! Bravo!

Greetings from Colombia.
10 years later still one of the most impressive bass videos on UA-cam.
This might be one of the few times I've enjoyed someone playing with a two handed technique on bass. Great work Eric.
You are amazing! Great bass player and a well written, technical song! You are defeantly an inspiration for me to grow as a bass player!
Real Tsar of the bass! Super smooth sound flight with extra fast finger rotor! Вертолёт!
He is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most inevitable bass players in the world. I’ve seen him up and close and he’s brilliant.
WOW! This is composition is bad ass!!! Definitely going in my playlist. Thanks for sharing Mr. Czar!
thanks everyone for listening!
You are definitely one of the best bass guitarists ever.
Awesome stuff. Great to catch up with you again, Eric, and a real treat for the ol' ears. Long may you continue!

I used to call myself a bass player...at least for the past 40 years...Now I'm not so sure that I would make that claim after watching all the EC videos...fantastic !
Johnny McNair...Albany Georgia
Thank you. You blow away preconceptions of what's musically possible with the bass, let alone any instrument
You make me proud to have the name Eric!

Wow! Very amazing. You're a very good composer.

Looks like some Bill Clements inspiration around the 2 min mark with your fretting hand, me gusta. :-)
Whoa. That was cool!

Cooooooooool, Man!
respect. very awesome dude
GREAT! Please do a tutorial of the first track!!!!
Just WOW!!!
Yep, an 18 string bass would be basically a chopped vertical piano!
epic!
Awesome. Brilliant. Did I mention awesome?
Wow.. awesome :)
ERIC RULES!
Impressionante.
Again I will trade you my soul in exchange for your bass playing abilities
aaaaawesome
I miss your playing. Steven J.U.
Holy
You are a GOD!
Great

Wow. First saw Eric playing "Had to cry today" with Joe Bonamassa. Hated it.... Eric was not LOUD enough, JB was too loud... maybe it was the mix but wow, I sure as hell looked Eric up on the interweb... amazing player !
this is so fucking cool
Excellent! :D
What's your record setup?
Wow, that is a amazing, hopefully you'll influence more 15 year old kids like me XD
@rage1331 I guess it just utilizes multiple fingers to tap a single or couple of frets, sorta tapping tremolo, ain't that hard to achieve. Just got scary looks :D
Faster than a speeding bullet!
how long did you play to achieve this mastery of the bass?
1:49, oh my god
BASSISTS WIN AGAIN!!!!
playing with a g string would be fun too
DUUUUUUDE!!!!!!!!!
Just place these 18 strings into rows of 3 courses.
Just wondering how you make that back ground kind of organ effect?
Do you use any effects on the 7 string? And do you add a high F or a low F# when going from a 6 to 7 string bass?
Wow...three finger left hand technique. I have seen it all. Allow me to throw away my bass guitars.
W:OW
@MrShake77
DONT DO IT!
Buy a fretless mad to be fretless theres a huge dif!!!!
What effect pedal are you using on the 4string?
The 3 dislikes are from frustrated guitar players.... just saying
Do you know what this is?
This is Playing Bass
18 strings? Obscene.
what three basses are you using?
I like it, but I'm not so sure about some of those effects. *shrug* To each his own.
Jack Nicholson plasy bass!
And now they just in German and you realise why Joe Bonamassa wanted rid of him out of the Band he is far too good
