Here is a quick summary of everything happening in between and after the final scene for anyone who wants spoilers. Please know that I don't speak Chinese so my understanding may not be 100% accurate so feel free to correct me. After Taishakuten's defeat, Asura and Taishakuten talked a little and Asura realized Taishakuten did all of this to make him the Hero. Taishakuten secretly gave his heart core to Asura to end his suffering and in turn, took Asura's heart core. By having Asura's heart core within his body, Taishakuten was constantly being tortured by contamination and suffering. However, Taishakuten told Asura his heart core was not the cause of his suffering, but that Taishakuten had absorbed all the sufferings and contamination from living beings all over the world and has been enduring it. After Taishakuten fell, Asura defeated the...fate or a higher being of god?? This part I was a bit confused on, but he defeated the one who can write fate and hated that being for putting Taishakuten against him and caused all of this misery. He then obtained the power and rewrote history, making Taishakuten seen as the saviour and a Hero. No one would remember Asura who is the god of war. Asura erased all memories about him from everyone, including Taishakuten. He will from now on by the evil king who Taishakuten, the Hero, defeated. And to end Taishakuten's suffering, he took in all the sufferings of the world to himself, much like what Taishakuten had been doing. After that, he quickly flew down and caught Taishakuten (who was still falling) just before he was about to reach the ground. He told Taishakuten to wake up and they spoke for a little. Taishakuten first recognizes Asura and asked why he was here, but throughout the conversation, you can tell his memory was starting to fade. Asura kept asking what Taishakuten remembered of them, but whenever Taishakuten told Asura something, Asura would tell him he remembered wrong. Later, Taishakuten didn't remember the Asura holding him, but he still remembered "Asura", and kept asking Asura where "Asura" went. Asura made up a lie, saying how "Asura" went ahead in the war because he knew how much Taishakuten valued peace and would be waiting for him. Asura then painted a beautiful picture of the world they both envisioned and told Taishakuten how his family and people were waiting for him. He then told Taishakuten to sleep and hummed a lullaby his mother used to sing to him and Taishakuten fell into sleep. Asura returned to the abyss due to the contamination he was carrying and won't be able to step into the light again. Later, you see the crowds all cheering over the end of the war, and saying how Taishakuten defeated the demon (Asura) was found by his people and was shown how much the people adore and love Taishakuten. Taishakuten was found gravely injured by his people, but alive and brought back, hailed as the Hero. However, Taishakuten constantly feel that something was wrong and that something important to him was missing. At times when he spoke and joke with his people, he would reference Asura without even realizing it. Like Taishakuten mentioning raising cranes (or some sort of bird), his people would ask if he knows how to raise them. Taishakuten would laugh and tell them he doesn't, but his friend...and he would always stop there since he doesn't remember what friend he was even talking about. When Asura was sitting at his throne in that ending scene, one of the demon asked Asura where he wanted to go and Asura said "to the person who has my heart" or "to the person who my heart belongs to". In the finale scene (not sure how much time has passed), Taishakuten was attacked by the demons from the abyss. Not sure what happened here, whether he and his people went into the abyss or if the abyss came into their world, but either way Taishakuten offered his life to protect his people and just when he was about to be killed, a figure in black came down from the sky, slaughtering the enemies and killed the demon that was about to kill Taishakuten. Blood splattered over Taishakuten and when the demon fell, Taishakuten saw the person covered in blood standing in front of him. So I guess it's replaying the scene of how they met for the first time. The scene ended with Taishakuten whispering: "You are..."

Everything that Asura destroys he absorbs. Even though he destroyed the "physical" existence of his own soul by plucking from Taisha, he unconsciously absorbed it because it was just the missing part of his existence (you can also see this happening when his surroundings starts envelopping his body). In the Memory Scrolls files you can see him destroying majins and automatically absorbing them in the form of energy and also automatically absorving the parts of his tentacles that was eaten; thats also why Taishakuten becomes so surprised and relieved, because Asura despite everything (abyss, majins and stuff) is still him.

I don't play the game since I dislike turn based (tried for a while, dislike the gameplay and the high learning curve), but I would give it to Onmyoji, they have one of the best animated shorts for a mobile game. Their animated shorts always have these gorgeous cinematic feels. And the audio is a feast too. I love it.
