The last shot is meant to echo the statue of the two real life warriors from their battle at Ganryu Island. Musashi used an oar against Kojiro’s oversized sword. Epic.
I do not understand why a lot of people are disappointed with the Anime. I loved it. This fight scene was the best part, especially the end. I'm not disappointed
Onimusha bosses had second phases even before souls was ever created lol heck even devil may cry bosses had second phases but yeah thanks for another casual souls comment. Everything is a souls reference at this point. Spoilers: Musashi btw is a souls character in case anyone doesn’t know.
I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm an Onimusha fan who wasn't disappointed in this series. Though it took me about three episodes in to actively remember that this series is happening in the Edo period-when all the other games happened during the Sengoku period prior-it still made enough sense. By the end of Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, the Genma, their allies and even their god had been defeated. We don't exactly know how many years or decades it's been since anybody's seen or heard of a Genma, and so those chosen by the Oni clan have all but died out or pretty much retired. A lot of media lately like to romanticize that the Edo period is when Japan started to lose its warrior culture and the strength, resilience, and skillfulness in battle that came with that-and this series is no exception. Musashi is the final dreg of a generation that knew what battle-true battle-was like. This is why the younger Samurai with him struggled so much, because their idea of warrior culture is the one that the Edo period would eventually come to adopt and hammer into Japanese society moving forward. Having said that, however, Musashi is past his prime, and his experience only puts him a level above his companions. He struggles too, and he only-just barely-gets by with a relic of the past that's just about as old as he is-if we consider the first time the Oni Gauntlet appeared on Samanosuke's arm. This Onimusha series-to me-pretty much is a farewell to the age of heroes that we fans know about. Peace in the Edo period didn't just kill the storied Samurai warriors of the Sengoku era as they were known, it also killed the potential for future Onimusha that would be formidable enough to stand against a resurgence of the Genma
You just described why I enjoyed this series. I had a feeling if Capcom were to make an Onimusha title it wouldn’t involve Samonoske or any of the others characters we knew. The show gave me the same vibes as the RDR saga. A story being set during the end of an era. Which is what I enjoyed.
Also, a lot of people probably didn't know that in his older years, musashi actually wasn't a healthy man. He smoked numerous things and died of respiratory problems. I think that's why he seemed exhausted a lot of the time in this series and became more dependent on the gauntlet towards the end. But in the games, the gauntlet was used very differently.
I liked this anime onimusha will always be my favorite game I grew up on it they need to make more onimusha games I'll buy it immediately I wouldn't even hesitate to pre-order it
i grew up on the samurai warrior ps2 games and dynasty games, these characters were pretty epic. didnt play the games but i heard the story. i would like to think of this like the second game where it was a different character. that being said, this 8 episode series was pretty great and if they did this again in the future they should bring back Samanosuke.
Me whos seen what they did to a certain vampire hunter... I wasn't expecting much at first but dam it good seeing how they respected the source material, mostly at least.
@@joejoejoej9763 I played the games as a kid and as a adult. I like the fresh new vibe it had. Honestly was nice not to see the elemental weapons and just a samurai fighting slowly becoming more of a oni
@@Sinfullybliss97 I also did play the games as kid, and came back to 100% 3 and 2 as an adult. I do think it was nice to have it's own story and pace, but it should at least have more mentions and connections to the games, not just little references. It only got good after episode 4 or around there
Similar to the game onimusha demon siege PS 2.. my favorite game at that time.. it's been dozens of years since I played it but the vibes are felt when watching this movie.. 👍👍👍
The cutscenes in 1-4 and Gemma were a million times better than anything here. We want to know more about the demons and oni. The story of becoming old and outdated is relatable and giving in to the gauntlet or Genma to keep going makes sense. Every episode was pretty uneventful too.
I have to agree, I was a big fan of the Onimusha franchise back in the day and did not like the way this version stepped away from the background of the original story i.e. lack of variation in standard Genma, the whole thing about the Oni Gauntlet being a potentially bad power source that can overtake the wielder, then the whole Sayo "you are human" BS. The music score was quite good, but it generally lacked the mystical scenic gore of the original games locations. I just found the ending a real let down.
@@ShootingStar466 I'm so sorry you had to go through that.
