Looking forward to watching your channel growing. Don't let the keyboard warriors get to you. It's all about you having fun. It's also great to watch you and your family learning together. Remember the saying 'the man who never made a mistake, never made anything.' Wishing you all the best from Ireland.👍
Dish soap works great as a bead lubricant, and it won't break down the rubber like the penetrating oil will. Great content, really enjoy watching these restoration videos. Real father and son moments your kid will remember and cherish. I did this with my dad, not restoring just working on our cars.
Thanks man.
Fun seeing you make the most of the tools and resources you have!
Don't listen to what some people say they're watching it.Aren't they? Some people just have nothing but bad stuff to say.I enjoy watching you save this iron.Just keep up the good work man
Thank you!
Your videos are good, like your dog . We had one when I was a kid, great dogs.
Be honest. Watched you break down those tires and then tried to get the other ones to reseal. I was rooting for you. And if you don't mind, I'll tell you a little secret when you're trying to get a tire blown back up. If you get your ratchet strap, put it around the center of the tire and ratchet it tight and then hit it with air. It helps the seat better or quicker I should have said. I have even used the method of using my car or truck to break down the tires like you did in the beginning Good luck!
Subscribed tonight, like your content, like you and your wife working together, your kids are great wanting to learn ... Good work dad and mom!!!
Thanks Wes!
Hang in there you are doing fine. It's all about having fun
My dad had one of these with the big 360 V8. These were very nice trucks back then.
Like the way you're taking it one step at a time, taking it down to the base, teaching the next generation how to work old school. Just finished a 5 CJ5 restoration myself, would love to find something like this as next project. Keep up the great work.
I use Rustoleum Red primer to kill rust and galvanize steel parts; could be painted later but I just keep priming it, works well since contains zinc! :)
Good for you. Never miss an opportunity to teach a young person. You will both be better for it.
Good job, I had the j20 with the 401 but it was a 1974 , It had 12 33s BFG .It looked BA ,I learned alot fixxing on that thing. We all start somewhere .keep up the good work ,
Watching you with the manual tire changer was GOOD. Most people would have googled how to use it (I would have) but the struggles were REAL and entertaining since I do know how to use one. But, for you to post the failure was amazing on your part.
Keep rescuing iron!
Thank you. I did google it afterwards and as expected, I was doing it all wrong. Thanks for watching. More coming soon.
Watched a few of your videos. Looks like a great project. Take a look at the alternator wiring. Old full sizes have a FIRE HAZARD under the dash where the alternator AMP meter leads go to the gauge. Have fun
Will do. Thanks for the heads up.
New sub I love these old jeeps well love any old cars they have a storey if we take time to learn them
Keep it up mate ,from australia we had them too bulletproof, dogs a laugh ,great family😅
Thank is for watching! We appreciate the kind words. Got a lot of viewers from your side of the globe.
Just found your channel. Great job , have a 69 j2000 that belonged to my dad ,hope to get it back in the road soon
Welcome aboard! Good luck with your J200!
enjoyed the video.keep doing what you doing.
You are correct. That windshield glass did not change from the very first FSJ built until the very last one.
While the glass should be easy to source, the gasket is the big issue and would recommend purchasing that new.
Thank you Bryan.
Tex, Arkie suggests you buy cheap dish soap, mix it with water and swab it on them beads before mounting or dis-mounting tires.
Haha…Tex. Maybe I should go with that alias. Thanks Arkie, I’ll try a dish soap mix next time.
I had one years ago and it was the best truck I ever owned I put over 500,000 miles on it and the only reason I finally sold it was because the frame rotted out so bad it couldn’t be fixed anymore and I couldn’t find a frame to do a frame off restoration
A side note for you. It pretty much leaked oil from the valve cover gasket about a week after I brought it home from the dealer. I tried everything new covers gasket I even bought an aftermarket aluminum cover that helped some but not all the time after 15 years the top end needed some work and I found that it had some imperfections were the gasket sat so my buddy had a machine shop and he milled it down a few thousands and it never leaked again. I loved my truck and selling it well I regret it to this day
Hope you love yours as much as I loved mine. Good luck with it
That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing your story Kenny.
It's just a lot of joy to watch your channel. Subbed! building that tire tool with all that distraction and Sherman on your back got me laughing. Wish you alot of fun and followers.
It’s rarely quiet at home. 😆
for seating the bead on the tire its easier to pull the schrader valve out of the stem, air it up then put it back in.
excellent tip for the guy.
You're doing fine. You have the right idea, as a man your family is job priority #1. You keep working and other stuff will come; turn around once and you'll be old and wondering how the heck to get rid of all the years of accumulation.
Keep up the good work. On the one where you were trying the compressor to the trailer. Maybe the back of the jeep would have been easier. Just a thought.
It would have. Thanks for watching!
greetings from Argentina. I have a 1964 jeep Gladiator. Very good video!
Welcome Agustin! Thank you!
Hey, I saw your video. I love the look. Mucho Trabajo!
Good job keep 👏 it up thank you
Always the arm chair trolls love you teaching your son to appreciate old iron thanks
Thank you!
Hang in there! Network with other mechanic shops in your area. They may be able to give you some good wisdom and time saving advice on your project Jeep. Yes, project jeeps are a lot of work, but dang does it feel good to get "out with the old parts and in with the new parts!" Aim for Safety and reliability is what we want to shoot for. Old Jeeps are supposed to have scars on them, don't worry about pretty. Take care, appreciate the video.
I like watching you and the family get together and enjoy this! (I especially like not seeing a lot of tattoos). Great old vehicle!
What's tattoos got to do with it,?
@@donaldhalls2189 Tattoos are fine for backward New Zealand indigenous peoples, but not for a civilized society. THAT'S WHAT!
I have one. I don’t try to show it off.
@@TexasHillbilly That's not a problem and most likely none of my business. I enjoy your channel, and thanks,
sounds reallyu really good man
it sat for 35 years its not going to run like a new lexus .rebuild the carb and see what that does for it and DO NOT attempt to drive it without correcting the brake issues you dont want to hurt someone or something
Great video, keep up the good work! Shermin is awesome!
Once when my uncle and I were going up to Alice Springs, we had two flats and had to change one tyer, off the rim, all we had was hammer and cold chisel, while you have it under the car wheel you could nock the bead off with a cold chisel, better a blunt one unless tyer is trash, great video, beautiful family, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Thank you Donald. I used to go on off-road motorcycles trips. I got good at changing tires in the field. These super hard, aged tires make you work for it. I just finished busting the rest of them off now that I have new ones on the way.
for popping it back on the beach you need a larger air hose
You are doing great, don't let the Internet tough guys give you grief. Take the constructive tips and throw the rest in the garbage. I think it's great that you are saving this old jeep. Just subscribed and looking forward to your channel growing. Keep up the good work.
Thank you John!
Our spark plugs here in Australia are $10 min each, great content, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Awesome old jeep
He y bro don't worry about those files i got your back!! Keep it up
You even got your son to help you thats nice bro i love it
looks like an AMC 232. keep oil changed and cooling system clear. it could last a long time. i have a 66 american with 500k miles on it.
Hiya Bud and crew, I saw you trying to break beads on tyres, I used to use a pole or a ramp laying on the tyre as close to the bead as possible then drove my landrover up the pole or ramp AFTER spraying a water and dish soap solution onto the tyre at the bead, for me it helped, once the tyre has started to move on the bead spray more soap solution..Thank you for your honest videos.. Ian.. England/ Oh I bought one of them red bead breakers, a year later its still In its box - LOL.. Im now 74 so I dont rush stuff anymore..LOL..OH, sleeperdude88 has his tyre breaker bolted to a big wooden pallet I believe so you can get more grip on it changing tyres (casings ?) lol
Thanks Ian!
Know if the accelerator pump is good or not if its good a carb kit probably won't help as much as a thorough cleaning would.
Check out part 2. The accelerator pump was trashed. It’s runner like a champ now.
I used to be a Millwright old school I've moved and hauled more things than I can remember every shape and size so when I say this please take it too heart please make more videos you have a lovely family and it should be about how you and your family save old steel you're learning you're always going to have critics out there don't listen to them you'll figure it out just be safe and have fun
What a nice comment. Thank you! I agree about the air hose, the air flow was too low to seat the bead.
patches in side help with leaks want tire that was warrenty cause of hole in wall or tread most places i go junk yard myself find good stuff 5x5.5 or so rims are hard to find but bore out holes 120mm or adapter plates and nut to space away from brakes or rotors
soap and water around tire and rim aid remove process lots ways to seat the bead fire it melts little tire and rim no stem or stem in just 90 psi or bigger compresser vs inside air cause need it to push in lots videos on situations but doing is best wrachet strap around to compress tire to fit as air helps
Sorry your video's went into hiding. Do you have a trash compartment. Try spraying starting fluid or w/d 40 around the base of the carb. I'm thinking intake leak. If you have air leaks the rpms will pick up.
Don't take it personally, their just jealous of you being able to film and make something, jealous you may even make a living, heaven tebetsi you have become something that they can't, do something with your life, all the best to yous and your loved ones, hope you make it great
Guud proyect...go forward
He went to harbor freight and picked up a nightmare lol I tried one time and I’ve been going to the tire shop ever since
Been watching Camarata for years. I'm seriously jealous of that cattle pusher. Is it staying on?
Definitely!
It’s alive yeah
use a handyman jack to bust bead
Seafoam in the carb let it sit for a while day or 2 to a week
👍
Yes get that carb off and clean and rebuild it, thats most of your problem. Oh and put a straight pole up in the middle of your car port ,its like a dogs hind leg. lol
Waiting on the carb kit to come in. Haha, the carport is junk. It's to be replaced eventually.
dont let haters hate get to you lots waste your breath on stupid people
Part of being a creator. You'll get better.
Thank you.
People pulling u down r the people that won't do wot u do and can't there just keyboard worrias (sorry about the spelling lol) so just do it ur way u get better
Thanks Lee!
Needs brake lines
bead lol
Dont like to see family movie, instead of working on your project,,Have my own family vids thanks...........
That’s the goal of this channel. Family involvement. Thank you for trying it out regardless of your sentiment.
