  • Today we are checking out the song that started my Flamenco journey with Paco De Lucia performing " Entre dos Aguas". This version of the song has a more stripped down feeling while at the same time being full of energy and heart! There are a lot of interesting things going on with Paco's multi layered melodies he plays giving the song almost two different directions the song feels like it has a very apt name! Paco De Lucia is a real innovator of the Flamenco genre with this song being a prime example of his ability to add other jazzy rock elements while staying true to the genre! I feel like this version really gives Paco a chance to stretch his legs so to speak and really have fun with the chords and melodies being this version has a more relaxed feeling! I have always been a fan of his use and mixture of major and minor notes & chords and that is on full display here! Have you heard of Paco De Lucia and his music? Have you heard the genre of Flamenco? Please follow the links below to learn more about this amazing man and this incredible genre of music that has really played a big part in the music we enjoy today! Let me know what you think!

Sweet! Love this performance. There is a version of Rio Ancho from this performance that is really good as well. BTW the guy to his right with the other Flamenco guitar is one of his brothers, Ramon. I love the flute on this. It's a nice stripped down version. Cool reaction as always. Thanks! :)

    Hey hope you’re well !
I appreciate the videos my man I’ve been on this journey of discovering flamenco music right along side you.
People will always have there favourites but in my opinion pacos
music is untouchable. He turned almost every stone when it comes to pushing the boundaries of flamenco and making it what it is today.
Two suggestions for you. This is a man from russia who is superb at performing flamenco music specifically the way paco played.

Hi, my name is Pavel Čížek and I'm from the Czech Republic. I also recognize that the flamenco guitar style is one of the hardest styles for the acoustic guitar, played in the original way on the fingers with nails, precisely because of the speed and impact of the acoustic guitar. I would like to suggest some more compositions by master Paco de Lucia. And these are the --
    1 Mediterranean Sundance/Rio Ancho - Al Di Meola & Paco De Lucia - UA-cam - ua-cam.com/video/QNjyj9eqwtc/v-deo.html
    2- The guitar trio - UA-cam - ua-cam.com/video/kuFI-D_Yl-A/v-deo.html
3- John McLaughlin and Paco De Lucía - David (John McLaughlin) - UA-cam - ua-cam.com/video/fVkk0Fao3y8/v-deo.html
4- Guardian Angel - Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Paco De Lucia - UA-cam - ua-cam.com/video/PBYzJUozGic/v-deo.html
    5- Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Paco De Lucia - Splendido Sundance - 12/6/1980 (Official) - UA-cam - ua-cam.com/video/-EkGumx5pq0/v-deo.html
6- Fantasia Suite - Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Paco De Lucia - UA-cam - ua-cam.com/video/CMwuu0DP70o/v-deo.html
Those shots were a living proof of the competitive style of playing the guitar against the pick, it was a guitar exhibition in the three guitar genres of Flamenco - Rock - Jazz and so together I would call it Flamencorockjazz and it was Paco de Lucia who was able to compete strongly in it! !

Well hello Pavel and thank you for all of the awesome suggestions! Paco sure was a driving force in the Flamenco we know and love today! I would like to invite you to check out our Flamenco and Paco playlists, we have found some pretty incredible things from these artists and more! Lately Al Di Meola's Elegant Gypsy has been one of my favorites to listen to and I just found a Carlos Montoya album in mint condition I have been enjoying as well! I look forward to checking out all of your great suggestions and showing them to as many people as possible!

Nice version! He starts with some granaina on his own and then the bass introduces Entre dos aguas. Here we have Paco´s elder brother Ramón on rythm guitar and the great Jorge Pardo on flute and Tino di Geraldo on percussion.I can´t tell about the bassist because the camera doesn´t show his face.May be he is Carles Benavent? These three guys after working with Paco were pioneers on flamenco jazz fusion.

Just a passing comment. The guitar evolved in Spain in late 16th century. Vicente de Espinel is credited to have added the sixth string in 1618, giving it its present form. While in the rest of Europe the main instrument was the fiddle, in Spain and its former colonies, the guitar and its varieties became popular. When the USA spread out to Louisiana, Florida and westernmost parts, the americans took love for the instrument. And there would be no RnR without the guitar.
Great classic composers for guitar pieces were Fernando Sor and Francisco Tarrega. I encourage you to listen to the beautiful and talented young girl from Seville Paola Hermosin who has her own channel in YT. She even dared to adapt "Alla turca" from Mozart for guitar with an amazing result.

As always freakishly amazing, at 3:05 tremolo , flamenco tremolo nonetheless , 5 notes P, I, M,A, I. If you notice he’s combining phases fromRioAncho and Al diMeolas Mediterranean Sundance as well same key, e minor Andalusian cadence Aminor, Gmajor, Fmajor , and most important chord E7b9 V7b9 , Paco never played the same riff twice 100 % improvisation always.
Jorge Pardo s flute is of another level if not planet , on the second group of Paco ,Jorge was replaced by keyboardist and harmonica player Antonio Serrano, Flamenco is a wicked difficult style to learn the “ compás “ the ability to maintain tempo and speed while holding rhythm slightly back while maintaining a frenetic pace, perfectly placed phrase ending trills “ remates “, ONCE and only once you can put all these together the “ DUENDE” will occur , the magic * you are talking about SIR !!! Paco is the best period single handedly he put flamenco in the highest echelon of musicianship .

This is not aprpegio.. only triolets ( triplets in english if i remember)...and a bass with thumb....triolets with little fingers I mean annular, major and index. After you play the bass with the thumb. You can do a melody with your thumb. Classical tricks :p

Hello there, why did you react to the same piece again lol?
this performance is not that different than the most famous one.
you should've reacted to the Seville version which is much more different
but this version is better and smoother than the 1976 version
you should not miss his Seville version of zyryab.

    • @TheKillogicEffect
      @TheKillogicEffect  Місяць тому

Well a fellow Paco fan requested that I check it out and wondered what I thought of it. I think it has a more laid back feel almost ore folk like when compared to the rocking tone of the first on I did! I also thought it would be great to see another version of the song that started this learning journey into Flamenco and Paco De Lucia and now knowing more about his style I pick up subtle things that I perhaps would have missed before! Do you have a song that is your favorite?

    • @palpalonpalpalon
      @palpalonpalpalon Місяць тому

@@TheKillogicEffect my personal favorites from Paco are solo quiero caminar, la Barossa, zyryab, callejon Del murro and aires choqueros
he has many other great pieces/song's but these are my favorites
you reacted to the wrong version of zyryab and missed so much.
the Seville version is a trio of guitarists in the same level as Paco or at least close to him, in the one you reacted to, the other guitarist was NOWHERE near the level of
      Paco.
he also plays entre dos aguas in there, which is also the best version of that piece.
about solo quiero caminar, you can find the video of him playing it, in barcelona.
and about callejon del murro, you already reacted to it
you reacted to a different fandango by paco but not aires choqueros. i would recommend you to react to his studio reacording
