Tbh did sound like he was bouncing off the rev limiter... But definitely needed more momentum than he had. The ft86 honestly isn't made to drift... Expecually American dumb power over drifting...
@@alexblackburn627 didn't even catch it until you pointed it out. I'll be sure to listen out for that sound real close, because my 01 camry is doing something similar in terms of sounds. She's got 330,000 on her, so I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Rockers is starting to wear a little bit.
Doesnt the brz have a normal wet sump? Ive seen this happen before to other cars, drifting on the dry. Your engine basicly run dry for oil. Ive seen such happen for motorcycles wheeling. The engine get starved for oil and seizes.
did the warranty cover it? I really want a frs as a daily driver/weekend drift car but I'm always scared I'll blow a motor and factory warranty won't touch it.
@@zubirhusein you can if you get a hyundai. Because of a screw up they did way down the line, they usually repair engines at 70% coverage or full on. Of course, the trade off to that is you have to drive a hyundai.
i couldn hear what happened, these frs and brz have a reputaion for overheating their oil so it would be surprising if it was overheating oil. Yup now with headphones it was a rod knock,
That sucks that the engine blew up, that was hardly "hard" on the car. You barely had is revved out for a full minute before it died. Sounds like poor engine build quality to me. I really want to get one of these, but I keep thinking the engine just isn't cut out for actual track racing even for time trial events. No stock oil cooler, insufficiently sized radiator...I might end up with one of these, but I am so worried it will just go KABOOM and I will be thinking "Should have bought a Miata as a track rat instead".
His FRS is modified though, it's not like he blew the stock engine. Meaning that there might be something malfunctioning from the after market parts not performing well etcI'm not concerned about drifting my FRS on a track, I'm more into the handing of the car in corners and how well it hugs the road. . For the price you can't go wrong with them. At this point you car get a used BRZ or FRS for like 18K which is cheap for what the car can do. I didn't realize how many people will look at that car though, it's heavily sought after.
@@AndySo2000 he just said it was the rocker arm the modification had nothing to do with it blowing up he just had a lemon like most of the 4u-gse engines
This looks like a boring drift track for a car like this. This is just high hp mash the throttle in 3rd gear cars. The USA needs an Ebisu short slow technical track. None of this oval BS
I'm getting flashbacks of takumi crying
Takumi, is that you??
3rd gear layout but he's driving in 2nd gear on the limiter the entire time. Engine will blow eventually.
V.Vega and with whatever tune he had could have been some janky shit
That car doesn't have enough power to slide in 3rd.

Dammit Takumi! This is the 69th enigine you blew up!
the real life takumi.
**Rage ur dream intensifies**
I swear between 0:10 and 0:17 i could hear a loud knocking sound. Was the engine already bad? Cause it sure sounded like it
that could definitely be a possibility
Sure as heck sounds like it!

i think the engine was already damaged prier to that,I'm sure it was hard to hear with a helmet on
you can see his oil pressure was low from the start unless its normal for Subarus to idle with 5-10 psi of oil pressure.
It sounded like a rotary when it tried to start 😬
Generally you stop pushing the gas when the motor starts to sound like a blender
well its allready done by then but I see your point
is this what used to be deseto speedway? (the freedom factory)

TAKUMI YOU BLOWED UP MY CARRRR!!!!!
How many miles on the motor?
Is he drifting at the freedom factory
N/A wow. did the rod break? i hope the warranty covers it. tuned?
Simulator Noob I see gauges. Probably boosted.
takumi irl
😂
Good ole sunshine speedway...
Was it overheating? I know if u run the engine hard then you need an oil cooler
We don’t think it was overheating! Think it was a bad rocker arm if I remember correctly
That sound when he tried to start it again. *shudders*
Did you ever find out what the engine failure was or what caused it?
Failed main bearing is what it seems. Multiple FR-S's are reporting this as well as my own, exact same noise and exact same outcome.
MLSCrow is there any way to upgrade the main bearing when first installing a forced induction kit?
MLSCrow oil starvation cause oil pools in the heads and leaves crankshaft dry. Needs baffling or dry sump kit
KushDrone baffling or dry sump
bruh i searched up "takumi blows up engine" and this is the first thing that pops up

Austin Smith buy a toyota not brz or frs.

370z. Boost it and you'll have 500+ whp on stock internals. Engine has forged pistons and beefy rods stock.
Not to mention 332hp stock.
370z known to blow too
Prax it had a tune so you can’t blame the way the engine was made in sure that would never happen if it had the original Toyota tune

Define 'blew'.

turbo charge d?
+Playboyer69 no sir, NA!
+AMBush Drift that was scary.
those fa20's are weak compared to the wrx one's. If you run forced induction with that high of compression your bound to break stuff
Abroham Lincoln could have been oil starvation or bad tune
Abroham Lincoln high compression ? I think not
Abroham Lincoln does have 12/1 compression too
Actually the fa in the brz makes more power on the stock Internals when boosted spoke with many upon many tuners
Well that’s embarrassing
Not enough oil
Its takumi all over again 🚗⚠⚠⚠⚠
you look like that "knowledge guy btw
+heyhey hey hey youre like the 4th person to say that! :D
+AMBush Drift knowledge.. but seriously tho, how did your fa20 fail?
it wasnt mine, it was my friends. I just threw my gopro on his car and then it happened :/
Oil starvation cause of sideways !!!
nah u can hear him in the video. the rocker arm broke.
Subaru motors. no suprises
FA20? Subaru / Toyota should have developed it a little better.
Oh no doubt!
