This vid was hugely useful, glad I saw it before I trekked down to Glasgow to pick up my Mk5 GTI. Gave me something else to look for! thankfully no signs of weeping on my box.
Lovely vidoe mate, as always. While im under my car im going to take a look att this, im currently changing the oilpickup pipe, car was throwing me low oilpressure warning in smal short intervals, so currently is stationary again😭. Going to change chain and the whole shabang aswell. Hope to get her running soon, meanwhile il have to go street racing in my 2006 Hyundai atos 1.1 😂
A Hyundai atos 1.1 ?😭 oh dear 🙈😜 Yeah blocked pick up pipe a probable cause for the pressure light. Best of luck with all of that mate, hopefully it's straightforward for you 🤞🏻
@@NorthCoastWorkshophahaha yapp, I've already named the car "the toaster" 😎 hade about the same power 😂. and cheers mate, i hope so too I'm still waiting for a new pipe, but since Sweden doesn't sell VAG parts decently priced, I've had to order from Germany, takes a while 🥲Auto doc has alot but some of the pars i want original or trusted third-party.
Great video as always matey, I had an MOT advisory of a slight oil leak on the LCR but not sure where as no details were given. I'll check that area on mine to see if it has the same issue!
Yeah its an option now that I never considered before. The cam shaft cover gaskets are also known for sometimes leaking oil if they're a few years old, so maybe check around the top of that too. Hopefully you track it down🤞🏻, and cheers for tuning in as well 😊
Yeah it's all sorted now 👍🏻The new cap has completed sealed up the leak. The old one was letting oil through like a sieve!🙈😅 Bit of brake cleaner and a rag will help clean ur gearbox up, then hopefully as it leaks you can spot the source easier. Let me know how u get on 👍🏻 and cheers for commenting
@@NorthCoastWorkshop Very good actually. Replaced PCV valve, timing chain + belt as well as chain on camshaft with tensioner. Decarbonization of intake valves. Balance shaft disconnect. New water pump. And cleaning of oil pan. New cam follower. All this was done at 94k miles and car is driving really good. Cupra is basically in stock state. The only think that is not stock is catback part of exhaust. Got Milltek with 2 exhaust ports near the middle which gave the car a more aggressive look. I am currently thinking of getting Polarfis PF04+ Advanced to get more info from Maxidot display. Like oil temperature, boost pressure etc...
You're smashing it with the mods and maintenance mate!👌🏻 Great to see someone taking such good care of their car, especially with these R's becoming so rare. Cam shaft chain and tensioner, as well as balance shaft delete, are at the top of my priority list for my car later this year. I can't go for more power before ensuring those things are spot on first. I may attempt the balance shaft delete myself, but probably a specialist for the cam chain just in case 😬

Great video! Don’t have this issue yet, but will keep in mind for future!
Cheers mate, and yeah something else that can go wrong with these cars 🤣🙈

Great video - I'm having a similar leak from the grear box but have not narrowed down the source. Did your fix work?

Helpful video mate ❤
Cheers mate, appreciated! It's all down to the helpful car community, helping me out though 😁👏🏻
How many miles do you have on your Cupra?
Just over 102k miles currently David
@@NorthCoastWorkshop Thanks for the info. I drive white Cupra R. Currently at ~ 95k miles
How's it behaving for you?
