If you're talking about which generation is represented more in the anime, Unova is still more represented than Hoenn. Journeys only had a few episodes focusing on contests, and they were more Sinnoh based than Hoenn. All we got for Hoenn contests was Chloe taking part in one, and even then, they split the focus on Serena's return. Hoenn was also the only region where we never got to see Ash reunite with any of his travel companions in Journeys, not counting Brock. The most screen time May and Max get is one still image of May featured as a contest coordinator, and then two scenes where we see May and Max watching Ash battle in the Masters 8. That's it. And yet, the Hoenn remakes had the most work put into them

So basically do with entire games for the 30th anniversary what they did with mythical distributions and RBY for the 20th.
I would be keen for a gen 3 collection with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen/Colosseum/XD with all the events as otherwise its very difficult/expensive to complete Gen 3 dex
i think the zekrom and reshiram sets just have to do with N’s trainer cards. the chase card in the Reshiram set is gonna be the full art one everyone liked and theres gonna be a Zekrom full art to match in the other set. Japanese sets are usually in two parts that get combined into one when brought to other markets and change the name completely
Yes, but you are not answering the question. The point is, why is Unova highlighted suddenly? N, the legendaries? Could there be something else going on? Then have a collection 2 called the DS collection including all mainline DS games plus any spin off doing the same thing as before with a museum mode, really proper give it the works. They could also do a bundle special edition collection including both games with stuff like a steelbook, pin badges, a statute and crap like that haha 😄
Id like to see ports for gen 1-7 and connect to Pokémon home because we will loose all the possibilities to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon bank when that closes. And id like to see them do something with mythical Pokémon to help newcomers to get them but really doubt they would do that.

I believe gen 5 remakes are coming out after gen 10 or it could come next year with za so they can focus on port and gen 10 next year. THIS YEAR WILL BE DRY. were only focusing on pocket which is good thing, but I could see a spinoff next year mess up gen 5 remakes next year will see though. awesome video i don't think they have enough time to promote unless they want a game in December but i highly doughty that and for za i think it early next year in middle and late gen5 if it not that then it later there not goanna skip remake because people would never experience that region. I would love physical version of older games but it mostly liikely gonna be jut digital but who knows.
I don't understand why Nintendo doesn't just release some of their more popular games in original form on the eshop, specifically Pokemon games. If they did, I would buy them all, and still buy remakes. I haven't played most of the Pokemon games. I played yellow when I was 12 or 13, but then I didn't play again until I played Pearl. So I would love to play all the games in the order they were made.
Jake must join on Pokemon Day 2025. We need him to analyze for the exciting day. We don't know what will be shown besides Pokemon Legends ZA news. We know that only. We don't know if they will show a new game at all. So please have Jake help us.
Yes I have been saying this for months even when Soul was saying that we will get Gen 5 remakes that we were supposed to get Gen 5 remakes for the Switch 2 but then Switch 2 got delayed That is also why we are not getting much PLZA news because they are waiting for Nintendo to release info on Switch 2
There is NO WAY they are going to sell physical ports. It makes no sense for the extra cost. The sell is for something convenient. They could have a small run collectors case version but it is for sure they would shoot for a low cost and to only be digital. They like that these things are lost once the e shop is out. They now can resell the eshop items from the 3ds anywhere else because you cannot get it legitimately anymore. I think at best it might be on the end cycle of the next switch.
Exactly it doesn’t make financial sense especially for a big company like Nintendo and Pokémon. They already know that fans will buy it again especially 10-15 years later after the end of the e shop
I don’t think that Black and White’s performance, money wise is necessarily a nail in the coffin for its likely hood of being remade. You know what else didn’t exactly perform amazingly? Legends: Arceus. Some of it is because it’s only one game, but then also Gen 9 was announced later. And you know what we’re getting? Legends: Z-A. So clearly Game Freak has enough faith in the Legends series to make another game. Maybe they’ve noticed how beloved the Gen 5 games are now and know how much money they could make if they basically sold it again. Oop, and Lumi made the same argument, let’s go
I get saying with bdsp that most won't buy a gen 4 collection, thats when anf why you pair em together in a collection forcing the value up. So first collection physical is gb/c/a all in one (9 games) but split into 2 for digital gb/c and Gba. Then DS, you dont split up digital and sell it as a whole package (9 games also), so it would have the same value. Also the reason to do this wouldnt just he for anniversary as strong a reason that is, but almost as strong a reason if not stronger would be the possibility of Bank closing down, so no pokemon could be transfers from gens 1-7 games anymore. Thats a big deal
24:48 kind of listening late, but Oshawott, Snivy and I’d say Zoroark are all marketed/exposed a pretty healthy amount imo. Not to the same extent as older classics, but these guys have their fans and Pokemon knows. Just thought I’d throw that out there :P loving the podcast as I’m at work!
Black and white sold the lowest because it was the gen that had no returning pokemon. Think about how people reacted to dexit now here is a whole game with none of ur favorites.
I already have just about every main-series game so I wouldn't really have any use for this unless they were all updated, which I highly doubt they'd be.
If only they would make a pokemon classic GBA SP. Like the NES and SNES classic, but it would have all the pokemon games from gen1 - Gen 3. As well as all the side games. As long as it includes a way to connect to Pokemon Home, it would be amazing to have a console that fits in the pocket again. If the price is right, and they can avoid scalping, it would be an amazing way to bring back the old nostalgia of the simpler consoles.
It's not just die hard fans that will purchase the remake. People who love Pokemon and never played the original game are likely to buy it. Me for instance
@@JakeSteinberg I just had to Google it to remind myself because you're right, I think what happened was, I bought ORAS and Smash3DS together, because I remember taking a picture of both together and sending it to my friend who also got them together and we couldn't decide which game to play first ^u^'
I would just like to correct Jake in that he stayed they always release a game pre Thanksgiving, they do but it's because of pre Christmas sales and the fact that it's the mid point of the financial year nothing to do with Thanksgiving itself given that it's a solely USA holiday
LITERALLY 3 gens(out of 8 at that time) had an updated starter in legends and black and white was one of them. Not promoted how!? I think the difference is gen 5 is not an early season so it has always had 5 other gens to fight for attention. Also it had the biggest roster so it has more ability to have pokemon be forgotten. Johto has like 30 original pokemon to it so it's no wonder it gets love. Gen 5 is zoroa. It is one of the most promoted pokemon in the franchise. There are at least 20 lines of pokemon in gen 5 that get buckets of love.
I think if a Pokémon collection ever comes out on switch, it will only be the 2d games. This is Pokémon at its best and not having to worry about 3d will definitely help development time. “Pokémon Classic Collection” or “Pokémon 2D Classics” are solid titles and relate to super Mario 3d all stars . I think these would also have the option to play the originals or remakes of gens 1 and 2, excluding 3 bc gen 6. It’s too recent to have X/Y and SM/USUM, if anything, this 2d collection would come out on switch first then a second collection could release on the successor. Just a thought.
Dude My idea would be super sick. Pokemon should be like world of warcraft, You should experiance being able to travel all places and win badges catch pokemon both offline and online. They should just make expansions pack from that point on. Maybe on each world they can change it to the og graphics as a option in graphic settings or something idk. That is a true pokemon game and more doable then ever.
Dusty is so desperate for a game to still come out this year lol. The mental gymnastics I hear going on here are crazy. 😆 There is no game this year. It would’ve already been announced. The tcg sets will be coming out early next year, as much as I’d love a B/W remake I think the tcg is just focusing on Unova for fun - they’ve had region focused sets before without a game. If anything this points to a lot of evidence that ZA is either spring or early summer - or even the holiday game. That’s all we’re getting next year. But this is GOOD. We want them to take their time with the games. That’s what we’ve all been wanting. Not a S/V buggy mess, but a fully polished game. Let’s just take this break from Pokemon 😮💨
If the new console is backwards compatible, then there's no reason they shouldn't put out a Pokémon game this year. It will still be playable on the new console
Sure but I think they wouldn’t until the Nintendo 2 is released or revealed. Plus it might be Nintendo intention to release them differently which would force/encourage the consumer to get the new Nintendo console.
I believe on didyouknow gaming, they looked through translated articles and found that star was never going to exist. There is no evidence. It was always 2 games from the start.
I would pay 150$ for a 30th collection that is home compatible, version faithful, shiny unlocked but it’s all handheld games…. Even one left out and it’s not worth getting
They wouldn't fully scrap black and white. They wouldn't fully cut a whole gen from remakes. They did mystery dungeon when those are LITTLE games. They went back to snap. They always are doing new things with their old things.
Remakes are fine and all but I want ports of the originals. I am greedy though. I want ports with some added stuff. So when they did the VC of gens 1&2 we got the addition of not only the Gameboy origin mark but also the ability to move pokemon caught in that game directly to Bank. I want them to do that again (with HOME) but i also want gen3 to get a little gameboy advance origin mark and be able to go straight into HOME and when it comes to gens 4&5 i also want them to get some kind of origin mark (would prefer that to be retroactive though since i have an entire living dex in home with every pokemon coming from the game/version it was first available in) as well as the ability to have gens4-7 be able to transfer straight into HOME. They could even bring back features that were lost with the closure of the 3ds servers like the friend safari in Kalos and wonder trade/GTS for the games that supported those features originally (though that last point could be asking a bit much)
I don’t get the whole “black and White not selling well, so it won’t get a remake”argument. The game didn’t sell that much worse than Ruby/Saphrie. Black2/White2 even sold better than Crystal, Platinum, and Emerald.
I will like the port of the classic games to be true, but at this point, I'll believe when I'll see it. I would also love a Gen 5 version port/remake done right,I was one of the few who liked BDSP. However, i do know it has flaws, and it could have been done better.
Cynthia definitely gets more love from both the franchise itself and the fans due to a few things: 1. Cynthia is a grown woman that appeals to both Men & Women and children. Fan service is easy with Cynthia as opposed to Iris who; 2. Is a child. While pokemon has never been shy to market these 10-12 y.o girls as a selling point it will always be easier to be market socially with Cynthia or Flannery, Elise, etc. 3. Iris has a darker skin tone. Gamers are some of the most racially charged, politically radical, demographic out there and anytime you bring a character in with a skin tone that isn't light/fair there's always going to be push back from a certain unsavory group. There's always going to be a pocket of money missed out because that group of people aren't going to buy into a character they see anywhere remotely "dark skinned". It's sad, but that's the reality of our social political climate and the reality of the vast majority of Asian people's views today, in 2024. As someone that grew up with 1st Generation Asian parents, i can tell you for a fact that if I came home with both someone that had Iris or Cynthia's skin tone. I know who they'd tell me to marry and who to throw in the garbage.
Black and white didn't sell less because it was bad. It was just about timing. The original fans had aged out and it was no longer 'cool' to like pokemon. There was a shift in what the target audience was into and gamefreak hadn't quite worked out how to bring in the younger audience in.
2:35 On the PKMNcast, they had a guess that the “Heat Wave Arena” one has something to do with the Anime. Specifically with Friede’s ship, which is quite literally an arena powered by heat. And even then, the names for card sets in Japanese aren’t the same in English, not even translated to English, they choose different English names.
46:59 I gotta push back and say I don't really agree with the idea that Diamond and Pearl (or maybe even Platinum) wouldn't also get ported lol. Though BDSP is essentially the same as Diamond and Pearl, I'd still rather buy those DS games and would play them more than BDSP. I liked BDSP because gen 4 is where I really came into the games, but I'd like to think the 2d sprite version of that game would draw people in more than the "remake". Plus people like me would still buy both Diamond and Pearl even after purchasing Brilliant Diamond lol. But I do understand the argument why they possibly wouldn't come to the eShop. I just think if they're gonna port all the old Pokemon games (from gen 1-7), then they just need to be all in on it. I mean that's literally just money left on the table, and if I can't get Platinum on the Switch(2) then I could at least get which Diamond would be the next best thing imo. Pokemon is the main thing I buy on any Nintendo console, Zelda comes second if I'm interested. So if I have the option to buy and play these old Pokemon games on my Swith, I'm buying them all lol. I'd like to think there's more fans out there like me who really only play Pokemon on Nintendo hardware, so in some ways we make up for the people who only buy one version of the game when we buy both of them
I'm saying no to ports period, and yes to gen5 remakes. Buuuuut, gen5 remakes should not be straight remakes like bdsp... I've suggested something like oras. Make mega universe Unova games to tie in with ZA.
If gen 1/2 re release again i would be so annoyed for the laziness that i will be hating the company for a while and yet i am aware it will sell because of the sheep Sometimes you guys let the fanboy take over too much, idk where they keep getting that kids will unwrap a gen 1/2 collection for Christmas and be happy about gb games emulated, these are mostly for nostalgia and the barebones gameplay full of bugs wont make anyone excited other than the people that want the nostalgia to return.
Exactly most kids these days have experienced better looking and running games so the re releases would be for hardcore fans. I don’t think it would ever be a physical release since it doesn’t make much financial sense lognterm.

facial hairless Lumi (aka babyface) will definetly take some getting used to, bro looks like he is in a parents-teacher meeting in this video
I want ports of Pokemon Platinum and Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver
Black Volt sounds like Mountain Dew type drink
Steinberg on the Pod?? Phones away while the class is in session!
First time I heard jake on the pod I thought he was going to be annoying. Now I get hype when he's a guest 😂
Get me in with Lumi so that we can debate the anime with Jake!
Yes I have been saying this for months even when Soul was saying that we will get Gen 5 remakes that we were supposed to get Gen 5 remakes for the Switch 2 but then Switch 2 got delayed
That is also why we are not getting much PLZA news because they are waiting for Nintendo to release info on Switch 2
Imagine people meeting at a road before a release online and it unlocking on the clock and all trainers charging in the new expansion
Oop, and Lumi made the same argument, let’s go
The only game I don't think they'll do again is Let's Go. I think Let's Go only come out to show Pokemon on the Switch.
I hope the switch still has a year or two left in it before they start making switch 2 exclusives
That's pointcrow not jake
The Honedge line,Chandelure,Krookodile and Zekrom are possible the only pokemon that the company has marketed out of Gen 5
The thing i want most even before i bought a Switch, GameBoy Pokemon games on Switch
the Hot Air Arena set defo has to do with Friede and his Charizard from the anime
Sonic Origins was announced like a year in advance when you guys were mentioning ports.
It's not just die hard fans that will purchase the remake. People who love Pokemon and never played the original game are likely to buy it. Me for instance
I played diamond and pearl on ds, and despite all the hate for BDSP, I liked the game. I didn't love it, but I enjoyed it.
Counterpoint to Nintendo not publishing competing games, OR AS came out on the same day as Smash 3DS
I think you're thinking of Smash Wii U! Different era-had to think about handheld and console divisions
@@JakeSteinberg I just had to Google it to remind myself because you're right, I think what happened was, I bought ORAS and Smash3DS together, because I remember taking a picture of both together and sending it to my friend who also got them together and we couldn't decide which game to play first ^u^'
@@cuerdencats4151 those are two great 3DS games to get together!
@@JakeSteinberg oh true true I mixed those up, and you're right I guess since they're different consoles it's not directly competing
I would just like to correct Jake in that he stayed they always release a game pre Thanksgiving, they do but it's because of pre Christmas sales and the fact that it's the mid point of the financial year nothing to do with Thanksgiving itself given that it's a solely USA holiday
while that is true, Japan has “Labor Thanksgiving Day” on November 23
@@NagisaP does it have anything to do with sales tho ? Genuinely curious 🤔
to me the 4 that will always stand out and you can almost add a 5th and a 6th are Agatha,Lance,Cynthia,Koga and last Bruno
Not trynna get off subject but when are we going to the pokemon planet deoxys is from👀
LITERALLY 3 gens(out of 8 at that time) had an updated starter in legends and black and white was one of them.
What if they release a black and white something *preceding* gen 10 which miiiiight be in California??
If they port black and white, they gonna impact sales of the BW remakes
Dude My idea would be super sick. Pokemon should be like world of warcraft, You should experiance being able to travel all places and win badges catch pokemon both offline and online. They should just make expansions pack from that point on.
Maybe on each world they can change it to the og graphics as a option in graphic settings or something idk. That is a true pokemon game and more doable then ever.
$70 for all of gen 1-3? Throw in the Stadium and Colosseum games with ways to access old events and you got a deal!
I see much more eye to eye with lumiosepost. He seems very level headed and logical.
Have you ever tried to reach out to RuffledRowlet to be on the pod? That could be a cool episode
Man I ll love to see them outsource it to Square Enix and have the games be hd 2d remakes for both games.
Black Version has RESHIRAM.
White Version has ZEKROM.
wait Pokemon Jail?
I believe on didyouknow gaming, they looked through translated articles and found that star was never going to exist. There is no evidence. It was always 2 games from the start.
I would pay 150$ for a 30th collection that is home compatible, version faithful, shiny unlocked but it’s all handheld games…. Even one left out and it’s not worth getting
Last year Silver Tempest came out (Johto) and there’s no Johto game that has come out, the cards are the cards there’s no sacred timeline
They could even bring back features that were lost with the closure of the 3ds servers like the friend safari in Kalos and wonder trade/GTS for the games that supported those features originally (though that last point could be asking a bit much)
To be fair, Ash’s pikachu might as well be treated as a legendary at this point
I don’t get the whole “black and White not selling well, so it won’t get a remake”argument. The game didn’t sell that much worse than Ruby/Saphrie. Black2/White2 even sold better than Crystal, Platinum, and Emerald.
I hope it gets a remake. I never finished bw and I would love to play it
I think the black and white remake will be in 2026 only because of legends Za
A collection would not let them milk a franchise so it wont happen
I will like the port of the classic games to be true, but at this point, I'll believe when I'll see it.
I would also love a Gen 5 version port/remake done right,I was one of the few who liked BDSP. However, i do know it has flaws, and it could have been done better.
They need money they make skins, or poke item wear, or idk a bike skin, animation skin.
Cynthia definitely gets more love from both the franchise itself and the fans due to a few things:
1. Cynthia is a grown woman that appeals to both Men & Women and children. Fan service is easy with Cynthia as opposed to Iris who;
Lumi I hope you realize Thanksgiving ALWAYS falls on the 28th.
Nope-it’s the fourth Thursday of November-so for example, it was the 23rd last year
@@lumiosepost right right. Thanks.
Ain’t no way Nintendo doing this
46:59 I gotta push back and say I don't really agree with the idea that Diamond and Pearl (or maybe even Platinum) wouldn't also get ported lol. I'd like to think there's more fans out there like me who really only play Pokemon on Nintendo hardware, so in some ways we make up for the people who only buy one version of the game when we buy both of them
are we gettignlets go johto lets go heonn lets go siinoh lets go uova lets go kalos lets go paldea hmmm who knows?
I'm saying no to ports period, and yes to gen5 remakes.
Buuuuut, gen5 remakes should not be straight remakes like bdsp... I've suggested something like oras. Make mega universe Unova games to tie in with ZA.
gen 10 will be 2026. sword and sheild is 2018, sv is 22. This 4 years apart is usual
Unless they decided to switch it up with a legends or remake
who is that addicted to games to where you would buy a port of the original with the remakes out!? gen 3 maybe but not gens 1 or 2
If gen 1/2 re release again i would be so annoyed for the laziness that i will be hating the company for a while and yet i am aware it will sell because of the sheep
Sometimes you guys let the fanboy take over too much, idk where they keep getting that kids will unwrap a gen 1/2 collection for Christmas and be happy about gb games emulated, these are mostly for nostalgia and the barebones gameplay full of bugs wont make anyone excited other than the people that want the nostalgia to return.
Exactly most kids these days have experienced better looking and running games so the re releases would be for hardcore fans. I don’t think it would ever be a physical release since it doesn’t make much financial sense lognterm.
