Everything is looking great as usual. I feel like I'm in Olive Garden 🫒 with your smooth background music. You do a great job with your container cados 👍
You lucky bum . So many Beautiful avocato Trees!. To me the most aesthetically pleasing are Bacon, Reed and Jim. So pleasing to our eyes, like a Beatiful Woman. So nice to just LOOK at, even if not ours! And some have wonderful fruit too! Thanks for sharing. Every day I wander out and look at mine.⁸
Hi Frank, I think the Reed and Bacon are beautiful, very pleasing to the eyes and bring me a lot of serenity too! I definitely relate with you about going out and admiring these wonderful avocado trees. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!
Hello from Central Florida! I'm trying to grow all those California Avocados down here as an experiment. I've been told they hated South Florida, but, who knows.
I definitely agree with you that people should just do it and plant an avocado tree regardless of the size of their backyard! Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!
It's such a satisfying experience even just looking at the trees. My frafted Pinkerton which flowered last year and was put into the ground in March this year is doing pretty well with lots of new growth
Hi Basil, definitely agree with you there. It really brings me a lot of joy and peace looking at my avocado trees. Happy to hear about your Pinkerton, wishing you a lot of great Pinkerton avocados, one of my favorite varieties. Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching!
Johnny thanks for sharing. I am at that point where I’m mostly out of room for in ground avocado trees so I am looking at doing what you have done and grow some in large tree boxes. I heard Ken Love mention in one of his videos about a 65 gallon sharwil. It got me thinking lol
Hi William, thank you for your comment, 65 gallon sounds great for an avocado tree, I've been thinking about increasing the size of my containers. I have never watched any videos from Ken Love, I will try to check out his video on his 65 gallon sharwil. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!

Hi, I use well draining soil like soil for cactus, citrus and palm. Kellogg has a good soil brand. I like Gary's Best soil as well. Thank you for watching!
That's a good question. I don't know what the price is now, but they were much cheaper in the past. The 24" was like $40 or $50 but after covid it got much more pricier. The 30" was like $80 when I bought it but I am sure it is much more expensive now. Thank you for watching!
Hi Alicia: I use fast draining soil like soil for cactus, citrus and palm. My avocado trees do well in that soil and you can buy it in the big box stores. Thank you for watching!
Please tell me what you use for soil for your avocado transplanted trees. I have a Persea Americana with a 3 inch trunk. I have had it for a year and I'm afraid to repot it. It has not fruited yet. I need instruction on soil, size of planter and when to repot it. Thanks. Kathy
Hi Kathy: to keep it simple, I just buy soil for cactus, palm and citrus. You can find them at any big box stores like Home Depot. I like repotting them in 15 galons until it is time to plant in the ground or in a 24" box. Good luck repotting and thank you for watching!
Awesome garden/orchard 🤙 Have you built your own 24”? They aren’t available here and…. What’s your fertilizer schedule and what kind? My container trees are growing slow compared to most.
Hello, thank you for your questions. I did not build my 24" box but bought them at a local nursery. I fertilize 3 time are year, once during early spring, summer and fall. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!
Hi Daniel: In the summer time I water my trees about 3 or 4 times a week, during the winter about 1 time and during the spring about 2 to 3 times. The avocado trees tend to try up a bit faster in containers versus the ground. I use well draining soil so it is really hard to kill my avo trees even if I over water them. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!
Thanks for the excellent video. There are so many videos in UA-cam on this topic but unlike yours, no one has actually done it . Mostly theoretical commentary. You have actually fruited Avocados in pots. How many gallons are those 24 inch boxes? I have purchased a dwarf lamb bass and bacon and intend to plant in 50 gallon plastic pots . I’m trying to assess if 50 gallons will be enough or not.
Hi Sidd: thank you for your kind words and thank you for watching! Yes, they are 24" boxes, but I should have planted them in something like 50 gallon pots. The bacon gets to be mid-size but the lamb hass tends to be smaller and I think you can get away planting the lamb hass in the 50 gallon but I would recommend maybe a bigger size or the ground for the bacon. My bacon is getting too big for my 24" box. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!
Thanks. Approximately how many’ gallons of potting mix did your pour into those 24 inch box? Looks like you have put those on the ground. Do you think the roots will eventually penetrate the ground?
