When you said "he's playing completely free in whatever he wants to do" that's Ween's entire existence in a nutshell. Perfectly summed up. All that they have ever done is play completely free in whatever they wanted to do. And also The greatest live band I've ever seen. Do more ween. Your reactions are always priceless.
This guy absolutely gets it. I love how he understands the inherent weirdness humor but also the incredible musicianship of Ween. Love this channel, All Hail Boognish
Ween recorded 12 golden county greats In Nashville with local session musicians, Fluffy was one of only two songs where Dean plays guitar, the rest of the instrumentation is credited to the session musicians. They dubbed their backing band “the Shit Creek boys”
I saw an interview with dean ween and he said you have to have a bit of fuck you to the audience or something along those lines , and thats not coming from a nasty a place , i totally get it , ive played in a few bands and from day one ive had that attitude too and it helps , i totally related when i heard him say that , not giving a crap and a bit of fuck you kind of the same thing.
When I saw them live, this song blew my mind. I didn't know a ton of ween songs so it was all new to me. The build up of the solo was really magical. Only way I can describe it
Dean Ween is a monster. He'll get way more fucked up than you ever will but when he gets fucked up he plays fucking murderous guitar solos and all the rest of the songs.
One of my favorite ways to introduce Ween to people is what I call the Ween Genre Game. With a few caveats, like genres can't be instrument or lyrical specific... they give me a list of ten genres. I give them ten Ween songs. I've never failed to come up with a song whether it's folk or country or bluegrass or showtunes or jingle-jangle or salsa or rap or... well... you get the idea.
i was at this show and when that solo came in, it's was so electric. the high pitched tones in that tiny venue, my whole body was vibrating. what a great show.
those high pitched tones cost me a substantial part of hearing in my right ear from 1 or 2 too many times in front of Mickey's blonde twin Mesa cabinet at J&Ps! Most likely a Fluffy too!
Do more ween! There are tons of good ones! Get lost in it and let’s hear some more! I love your reaction to them! It’s like me hearing them for the first time except having all your musical book smarts. But please do more ween! Pick a tune any tune.
I stopped following the channel because it was taking WAAAAY too long. Was like a crack attic after Transdermal Celebration only to find.... nothng by ween, When was that a year ago?! He really should do at least one song per "genre"
I'll always tune it to see what Deaner is talking about. Fluffy is not your prototypical encore tune but it doesn't get more brown. Also the least Country of the songs on that album, great though it is. I think this song made the album based on subject matter.
12 Golden Country Greats refers to the 12 local Nashville musicians/legends they used on the album...just, fyi. Check out "So Long Jerry"...was a B-side that got left off of the album, about Jerry Garcia. Enjoy 🤎
Being they are not very well known there are primarily crowd cam footage of all there best stuff. What I have always loved about Ween is you listen to the album, then see them live and its like 2 completely different bands playing each others songs. There is no real entry point to Ween. you just jump in and root around till you find what grabs you by the boo boo and hold on for dear life. Haha. The live versions of Fluffy are amazing. But that being said. I don't think you will get the vibe of 12 Golden Country Greats by listening to the live versions. It is a totally different beast.
You know what I love about deaner? Listen to the outtro of this song. 13:54 His guitar is not hiding one bit. He's got that fvckin thing GOOSED OUT. He channeled Jimmy page with those brown noises
I probably go back to this regularly and left comments, but I still think this solo is the greatest piece artwork to come out of my country. It's so incredibly soulful.
HIT THAT 2016 LOCK'N. TWO NIGHTS. It's here on UA-cam. They were opening for Phish and were really on their game. As I'm sure others have said here, Ween does have some proper Country Western music playing with old school greats from Nashville. This was more a sample of Ween being "brown". They have a lot of weird relatively obscure songs that when played live have a life to their own much like Fluffy. This is a fairly obscure song and the studio version of this is so much shorter and simpler.
WEEN to me is like The Beatles that no one heard of, so many great tunes, I could go on and I will off the top off my head, Jopa Road, Buckingham Green, this song, Ocean Man, The Argus, Falling out, and my fave Transderamal Celebration.
Travelled from NE Scotland to London fer the "white pepper" and "la cucaracha" gigs. Only Pink Floyd 94 Earls Court tops those gigs fer me. They were that good. More Ween please. Gener does a monster solo on "i dont want it" live which brings a contented smile on Deaners face (think its the reunion gig)
I do this live a lot. Dissonance and slides into the finding the groove of something many can’t do, I have played many instruments over 3 decades including guitar and at times this is not a taught thing. You just hit it like Hendrix or your a technician
Did you notice he worked in that part from the Transdermal Celebration solo during this one @9:28? I love Fluffy... not really representative of 12GCG, but a sweet tune. I wonder what you made of "Mister Won't You Please Help My Pony?". Good stuff, man.
also, Transdermal, Tear for Eddie, Fluffy...these are great songs but, we need brown you out more. can we react to Pollo Asado, Woman and Man, I Play It Off Legit? for some real ween country, you should do Learnin To Love, Drifter in the Dark, or probably any other song from 12 country greats lol

Hey Michael, if you have time you should take a look at Charlie Crockett. Pretty old school sound, but great on the strings. 9lb Hammer is a decent one of his.
Hey Michael, for the next livestream what do you think about doing a 1-4-5 night? Genres could be all over the place but i think it'd be cool to see just how versitle the 1-4-5 combination can be and how bands can take it and make it their own.

Ween recorded 12 golden county greats In Nashville with local session musicians, Fluffy was one of only two songs where Dean plays guitar, the rest of the instrumentation is credited to the session musicians. They dubbed their backing band “the Shit Creek boys”
It was actually Gener who played the slide guitar solo on the album cut of Fluffy!
@@ChinoRdrgz holy shit
Shit Creek Boys were what they called the musicians who played on that tour...not the same guys from the album
💜
Ween- The youthful exuberance of not giving a crap... This guy finally gets it.
That's it!
100%
Also a very Gen X attitude toward the craps not given.
It's nice to see people truly get Ween.

Dean Ween is a tasty player. Thanks for doing this song. Ween has many many songs like this. This performance illustrates why people love this band.

Can't WAIT to see this guy at a Ween show after this pandemic. ♥️
Not really over but I saw them last Sunday. Quite incredible
Y’all still in the pandemic world. Gosh.
I love it when he gets a bit more technical, because he keeps the attitude of a dude that I know from a bar.
Dude we had a shot dog at 101 Wilson like 4 days ago.
@@Guitargate Cheers man.
I love Ween. Lucky to see them in the UK, they don't come over very often. They played for 3 hours and it was utterly brilliant. Remarkable live band.
Ween is the greatest band in the last 3-4 decades. One of the greatest of all time. People just don’t give them props because they’re goofy.
They're top 10 for me. Up there with the Floyd etc.

Man that gave me chills like nothing else I’ve heard in past 2 months! Awesome!
Just saw Ween play this song live and MAN, when I didn't think it could get any heavier, they turn it up another notch. Mind blowing stuff literally
Fluffy reminds me of my old dog who passed away. I envision him soaring into heaven from earth.
I will always swing by for ween
