Mark - too much lending going on when you're in no position to lend...

I seriously think that is why most Americans are broke and I do not mean this as an insult. But if you look at our society, we tend to have relationships with people and we spend a butt load just to impress them or to make the relationship work (and this is from people that are financially on the brink of becoming wealthy if they could just stick it out). If they just stuck it out, they are not to worry about because they become self sufficient. The other party usually is actually worse off and they need all the help they can get, but they become enabled. So you have someone who is financially on the brink of being self sufficient helping them out and then BOOM, they themselves go back into being worse off.

I think prices have skyrocketed in the past few months and my grocery bill has gone up by 1/3 in the past 6 months. Gas is crazy too.

I would say that there are easy $350 fluff spending in your budget. Good news is that you can easily pay down your debt if you really want to. One example is the $40 monthly haircut that you get. I have electric clippers and cut myself a military short cut or crew cut every 2 weeks for free (just as easy as trimming a beard) and save money and time. Sorry to hear about the car, very little you can do about that.
