so, ya girl might be moving to ATL? 👀 i spent a little weekend out there to apartment hunt and try to get a little feel for what the social scene is like and overall, not too shabby.
i'm truly torn between going back to Brooklyn one because it's familiar and two, is there really any greater city? lolll. anywaaaaysss, y'all peeped that ya girl is rocking her natural curls this vloggy vlog? the three-strand twist out is for sure giviiiiing and i'm definitely about to continue rocking this style. it's so cute!

We don’t talk about feeling of being alone or not wanting to be alone anymore enough because, people always make it feel like you sound desperate or sad. But in truth, no one wants to be alone. Especially if you’re doing the work to better yourself or have bettered yourself - why is it a crime to want to share that with someone. Idk sis. People just want others to be miserable lol.
Loneliness is a huge, underexamined topic; however, many people are okay with being alone _(esp in terms of coupledom)._ One of my former supervisors who's in her 70s said that while she is attracted to men, she never saw them fitting to be with. I thought it a bit extreme at the time, but now I 💯 get it and will likely end up the same way. A lot of it feels like a huge scam anyway smh.
I also didn't understand how some teachers did not desire children of their own. Now, I'm shocked that people actually wanna deal with other people's spawns + their own! 😅 😮💨
I'm not ok, I haven't been 100% all year. But your volgs bring me joy. I'm reminded this stoop is temporary and things will get better.

I left NYC for ATL and never looked back! Girl! NYC is absolutely ridiculous - rent prices especially. I’ve been in ATL - going on 2 years now - and I have no regrets! As a single mother of two, the housing market is MUCH more affordable. I just started posting moving vlogs myself as I’m moving into my second apartment since living in Georgia. I love it here! And I love moving! Lol It’s no shame! Love me a fresh start. Looking forward to more vlogs hunn. You got this! 💪🏽

I’m 33 from Jersey no kids & single! I’ll share my experience of ATL. I moved in 2014 when I was 24 and stayed until I was 30! Living vs visiting for a weekend is a completely different vibe. Atlanta is a nice environment but it’s boring AF to live. If you like to party a lot you may love it but that’s gonna become costly and being single and going home alone you may run into the same feelings of LA! Dating is horrible. There’s 2000 women to every one man. Then the others are DL! And it’s very fake. What you see on the internet and over a weekend when you move you’ll see the real ATL. It’s beautiful though and it really depends on what you’re looking to get out of it. HOWEVER, I would move back if I had a family or was in a committed relationship and we move together because you get a good bang for your buck and the apartments/houses are nice. Oh and having been to LA, being from jersey so NY traffic. ATL traffic is the worst. Horrible. A 30 minute ride will take 1+ hour w/ light traffic lol.

Hey Amani! This is what I needed to see today. I touched my soul. I am in the process of needing to move because they have gone up on my rent and I just cant afford it comfortably. I want to start somewhere new. However the only difference is I have an 8 year old son to still take care of and I have an older son who is 21 but he living his life. I use to live in Atlanta from 1992 to 2001 from elementary to High School now I am in Va. I loved Atlanta I am considering moving back one day. I just felt so at peace there but left because I was a young mom and just needed to get my life together near family. You will love Atlanta so much to do. Just make sure you stay grounded, know what you want and don't bend. Some people can get sucked in the fast life and glam of it all and lose themselves. Enjoy the journey! Make sure you get you some homemade peach Jam.

Hi love! With dating I’ve been both girls. But I wasn’t necessarily bitter, I was scared and decided to withdraw from everyone. Not the healthiest, but that alone time and dodging the dating world was healing. Now that I’m back out there I still know what I want but I’m not taking anything so seriously. Give Atlanta a try, you may end up staying here like many people do. I learned about the cafe from watching you, but their matcha latte was too strong for me. Dekalb Farmers Market is closer to me, but Piedmont Green Market is closer to Midtown. Love your hair with twists and good luck to you!

I've let a few dudes turn me bitter with the dating world😂 but it's so crazy when you talk about self love & growth & seeing if you learned anything because I just realized my triggers is what's causing me to attract the stuff I really do not want & I get the lesson over & over..& fail lol..

I agree with you on the having no expectations in dating. I’ve been in 3 relationships and am single and just figuring out the dating world and being single for longer than 2 months.
Also, I’m 23 years old and I followed you on Instagram(I don’t use it anymore) and it’s a breath of fresh air to find a black woman, single in her 20s on UA-cam.

Im an Atlanta native and I can’t decide if I want to move to LA or back to atl😭 both cities are so amazing but my atl will always have my heart. overall, LOTS of black ppl, social scene has two sides, but building community is key just like in any city! I think it would be a great move.
I’m from Atlanta and live in LA! I love LA, but I think you have to pop around to find what city works for you. Try ATL and see what happens. If it doesn’t work, you can keep moving. You are not a tree, you can move whenever you want. Good luck on the journey, boo!

I think women mean you are better off alone than being in a toxic relationship. Most of us want to be coupled up but some women get so lonely and desperate that they rather be in a bad relationship than be alone.
and i can totally relate to that perspective, but i do feel there are a lot of women simply pushing the narrative that life is better off with no one as a result of the toxic relationships that they have been in and i just can't get jiggy with that lol.
ATL resident here (but Boston native).... I've never commented on your videos, but I've been watching for quite some time. ATL is cool, starting to get pretty crowded, but theres a lot to do. Consider researching living inside vs outside the perimeter (ITP/OTP). I can see you living ITP or in neighborhoods on the East Side (good coffee shops, farmers markets, etc). I'm an introvert, but I like to pop out from time to time & I can say there is always something to do out here.

On the note about navigating singleness chileeee it's definitely giving bitter women but I also feel like those woman haven't taken the accountability where they have went wrong or could've done things better. So they blame it on the guy but to attract that guy you had to be somewhere on that level or needing to heal from something. Just my thoughts on that part. I have been on both sides I've been the bitter women haha and that made me someone I really didn't like but I "masked" it by saying I was protecting my heart. NOW being on the other side of accountability I focus more on the things I've learned from the situation no matter how short or long the interaction was and that makes me feel so much more in control. One thing I can say is not expecting is the CHEAT CODE!!! Because we as women can romanticize a whole white fence life with someone and we move on the fantasy trying to get there and not the reality!

snd girl yes, i get us women wanting to protect our hearts, but let's not go stone cold and go bitter lolll. it happens sometimes though! but we learn the lessons and move on with grace and a new open heart 💗. no expectations is key and i'm happy i was able to experience what it feels like to be in a situation that didn't work out and not feel any heartache!

I recently realized the same thing lol do not have expectations when dating. When you don’t have sex it’s easy to not have expectations and just let shit ride out. That’s how I’m gonna move going forward. And date around which will be a first for me.
yes to no sex too!! no soul ties over here! it gets us caught up even more and i don't got time for that lol. Dating around will be new for me too, but it's only fair that we keep our options open within reason. as long as we feel like we're doing what makes us feel comfortable, i see nothing wrong with it.

To me being single is empowering. Change your prayer and tell God let the man for you find you. In that way you can focus your time and energy on other things and you will know when he comes you won't have to second guess anything. as an ATLien, make that move girl! The culture is unmatched for a city in the south (besides NOLA imo). Be aware it's not gonna be like NY (food wise, Black folk wise, socially etc.), but the city. has it's charm. There's a lot to see and eat in & around ATL (the surrounding cities 30-45 mins out have cute stuff too). Also there's ALWAYS something to get into in the city...we party like it's the weekend everyday lol. Also, if it's you steez, the churches out here are good too! So many generations of Black excellence & so many types of Black diversity. I think you'll love it, especially if it's just for a year! Ponce city, krog street, deklab farmers markets are gonna be your go to for a good Sunday vibe!

loved this video! I'm just gonna say it does sound like you want to be back in NYC (I'm a native NYer myself and moved out once before to DC). There are some really nice places on Jersey City and LIC waterfronts in luxury buildings at a better price. Just saying in case you haven't signed the ATL lease! Those ATL apts looked beautiful tho and im sure the city is a vibe
