- In response to the 3 major errors I made in the previous version of this video, I have gone back to fix those mistakes & then slap on even more things to the video!
This time with precise measurements/verification for all the monsters. As well as listing the sizes of all the creatures that way I don't forgot or mix up anything(I'm looking at you Garangolm). With a new technique I call the "Noob Measurement System." Which resulted in a total of 150+ T-posing hunters being measured at 2 meters each.
So now everything should be accurate. Unless of course I somehow missed someone. ~ @the_g.b.c13

Things to do for the sequel(Personal notes pls ignore):
1. Re-add the missing Arctodus that somehow got yetted into the backrooms at some point during exporting. (WTF How the f**k did that even happen? The bear is literally there in the editing software!?!?)
2. 10.2 meters is 1 of many estimated averages for Megalodon, but not the max, it can extend up to 20m. Honestly would still be funny to put besides with Zamtrios.

I read somewhere that the creatures in ARK had to be larger than their real-life counterparts because if they were accurate then they would feel too small. Maybe the monsters in Monster Hunter, if they were to exist in the real world, won't be literally as large as this, but they have to be that large in the game to convey the sense of scale.

Humans in the MH universe are built different. Can get sat on by Gammoth and the worst that happens is the wind gets knocked out of you and some cats drag you back to camp.
They can fall off a cliff and be perfectly fine.
I am starting to believe the reason we didn't see Plesioth in 5th gen wasn't because it was bad or unwanted, but because its size is so scuffed they couldn't actually fit it into the 5th gen maps
Remember Lavasioth was around the same size before and they did shrink Rajang

I think the logic is literally:
“Let’s make a fish monster that’s too tall to hit the body of with most attacks so you have to work around that” and then just scaled up the piscine wyvern rig so it was big enough that the player couldn’t reach the body without thinking about how huge that made it

Plesioth of all monsters being shockingly huge is hilarious. Also interesting dynamic that Rajang used to be much larger, though I do think the change to being overall smaller suits its theme very well.

@@IndominusRex-wc1ey Well I don't think Magnamalo is Elder tier per say, just one of the ones that can hold their own against one for a quick scuffle, like deviljho. Realistically and lorewise a Teostra or a Velkhana would decimate either in a fight to the death.

When you realise an elephant-sized bear is seen as one of the less scary monsters, you get how impressing the roster is.

So, if I remember correctly, I feel like I had read that one of the fish inspirations behind Plesioth was carp, a family of fish which includes goldfish. These fish have a habit of growing relative to the size of their environment; if they spend their life in a fish tank, they usually don't get that big, but one in a pond or lake can grow to a pretty massive size by comparison (a 2-4 inch tank specimen weighing a few ounces versus a 1-2 foot long one weighing many times more.) Supposedly, the Plesioth species shares this trait, and being able to survive in both salt and fresh water (like a Bull Shark) allows them to move out to sea instead of living in lakes and river estuaries, which therefore allows them to scale up even more. The idea is that, if a carp could survive in a salt water environment, it might grow to be the size of sharks or even whales, despite still being, well, just a carp. Plesioth is massive, yes, but it's not typically considered anywhere near the threat level of monsters with a similar length, like Lagiacrus, Ukanlos, or Fatalis; it really is just an overgrown fish wyvern. Memes aside, they are on the lower spectrum of power in the MH universe, and as far as blights go, they shoot a stream of water (like an Archerfish), jab you with paralytic spine venom (an analog to lionfish), and can put you to sleep (perhaps a reference to the Sleeper Shark, a rather large kind of shark that isn't considered anywhere near as dangerous as other sharks of a similar size.)

the camera makes them look smaller
from melee range she takes up the entire screen and the camera height already makes monsters look smaller than they are in relation to the hunter. she is HUGE

I watched the "Gammoth theme hits perfectly" video and saw that a hunter is about as tall as a leg.
It's also the game with Plesioth and most people don't realize how actually big it is.

Looking back at Plesioth's original In-game profile descriptions, they always start off with:
"Enormous, flightless, aquatic wyvern"
"Giant piscine wyverns"
"Huge beasts"
I think having a large size was always a key part of the monster.

I'm really glad you took the average size because the maximum size of some of these creatures are even more scuffed, like according to the wiki deviljho can get up to a whopping 41 meters

I believe the sizes are not scuffed, but play into mini and large events. And that simply otherwise most quests would be boring so they purposfully reduce the size of the models with the actual size be represented by the cm numbers. But the tiniest great Jagras from Worlds event still should be almost a 1/3 longer than a hunter is tall but people never believe me when I say that xD
So thanks for showing these videos about how tall they actually should be :D As someone that keeps telling people MH is Gameplay > lore
It is still funny to me that Plesioth can overpower and eat a good chunk of the roster because of it's size alone. Even some of the Elders are not safe. Just imagine seeing it drag something like a Teostra in to the water.

Plesioth using hologram technology in game to appear smaller made hunters think he has the most broken hitbox out of all monsters.
Plesioth is such a bizarre exidtance, man. It is treated as a mid-high level monster on par with the likes of Rathalos and such, but realistically it shouldve been on par with some elder dragons just through its sheer size alone. And for us the players its this mythical ultra being that can destroy worlds with hyperdimensional hips.

You know, I think I can accept the large sizes of most monsters in the Monster Hunter universe as natural according to the game's own scientific "rules", vague as they are, and even if they look smaller in game due to how the camera positions itself. But man, Plesioth's size really does not make any sense to me.
And here i wonder, what an *absolute monster* like Zorah would look like compared to the ancient Dala.

Back when I first got hooked into MonHun, I played Prowler in GU. I thought Plesioth just seemed so big cuz I was a little cat.

) Amazed how that Gravios/Basarios and Barioth were so close in size. Cool how the Basarios/Gravios is similar in size to the Diablos and Monoblos.
) Ancient Dalamadur estimations put the fear of God, Leviathan, and Jormungandr in me, to this day.
Final note: I might try to average the listed sizes later. There's a humorous chance this video averages to 30m of monster across all listings.
