I like DC and Marcel when they both recognize they have a universe and utilize it but also are able to remain character driven which they both often fail too do.
This convo was honestly exactly what I needed after a week of comics social media obesssing over projected sales figures and general doomerism. I think my favorite comics convos are these ones where folks just talk about the specific reasons why stuff works for them, why they love what they love.
Which is strange because compared to the 90s everything in including manga is down as far as sales
ooh awesome sal and great interview with Jordon Blum and Patton Oswalt with there new indie book it sounds fun. :)
Fun discussion. I've nevee thought about the perfect comic in much detail. I guess it should depend on how it makes me feel as I read it, how strong the art is and how strong it resonates with me after based off the writing, art, etc. Like Stan Lee and Steve Ditko didn't write perfect stories but their Spidey is still really fun and digestible to read 60 years later. Are they perfect? No. But i guess i would say they're close.
Great show! Thanks Sal and Jordan for this
Oh shit I didn’t realize this Blum wrote baseball venom, I picked that one up and most of them were kinda whack but baseball venom was surprisingly good
The more one and done stories in the current doom patrol reminds me of s1 of the show, which is a 10/10 to me
Great episode but QUASAR IS WORTH IT!!!!
