We went from Mark Waid not knowing Sal at Cons to having two in-depth interviews with him. I like how much he likes this part of Comic UA-cam.
Mark Waid has always been the best-kept secret in comics. He's rarely in the conversation when people talk about the pantheon of great writers and he absolutely should be. The man wrote Kingdom Come for crying out loud!

I’m such a huge Mark Waid fan, I’d love to meet him at some point
I got a chance to meet him and chat with him at a con a few years ago. What a total genuine nice guy, he was the one that influenced me at that point that there might be something to the Legion of Superheroes so that’s a thing in my life now.

As a newer reader I absolutely regard Mark Waid as one of the best! A bunch of his omnibuses are some of the hardest/most expensive to purchase.

If Mark Waid sees this then I just want to say THANK YOU! This interview is so great. Your words really inspired me today and I'm motivated like I haven't been in a long while. Your work pretty much got me to fall in love with these heroes. Superman especially. I can read your work over and over and have been for around 15 years. I hope I get to say thanks in person someday at a con or something.
PS: I REMEMBER IMPACT COMICS! Archie was big in when I was growing up in a small town in India and my library had Shield. I had no idea you were involved in it!! That's amazing!! Also the Archie reboot was awesome! I loved it!

Great interview Sal! I found out that human garbage Tim Pool had human garbage EVS on his podcast to talk about CG and “wokeness” in comics…needless to say this conversation puts that interview in the dirt. This here is how true comicbook fans and creators are suppose to be! Kudos!
57:00 thank you Sal for asking Mark Waid that question about the format of Superman Final Days of Lex Luthor cause I was hoping as well that it was gonna be the same format as Batman Damned and Joker Killer Smile and not just the lame standard size issues that they did for 3 Jokers and Batman the Imposter so thank god for that

32:47 I remember Chip Zdarsky talked about how he got that exact same message from Mark when he first got announced as the new writer of Batman. Mark must secretly like instilling fear in the new Batman writers I suppose.

Truly a writer for the old school comics fan! Hidden gems like JLA Year One and his Captain America work really hit a sweet spot. Clearly a man who LOVES comics! I even liked his CrossGen stuff.

Mark is a legend.
Regardless of my issues with Mark Waid, he is indeed the best writer right now at either company. Remains to be seen if Johns can do anything with/ beyond his new JSA and Tom King is WAY to miss or hit. I personally also like Donny Cates but, he's been floundering recently

Mark Waid: the greatest writer...EVER. I think I passed out from my own excitement for a sec. I have loved everything this man has written from the Flash, to Kingdom Come, to Fantastic four and Captain America. His Superman stuff is LEGENDARY, except perhaps his Birthright books. Man of Steel was a cut above as far as Superman origins go.
