- It's been 17 years already. Such a good memory. This clip slightly edited, so I could upload it on youtube. I didn't want to do so, but uploading fifteen 2 min clips seems much worse to me.

That aerial shot showing the distance and amount of enemies between Aragorn and Boromir is pure genius.
So good to feel the distance, to get e sense where everybody is. like you are there with them. They could have thrown in a dialoge like: „they are 40m away“ but instead Jackson choose to shot it. Small detail but makes the experience much better.
Один из любимейших моментов под любимую музыку властелина.
I just noticed they are way closer than I though
all this for inheritance
So true and they hung a cable with a camera through a lot of this forest to get these shots which looks so good, who needs drones
This is such an epic scene, the highlight of the fellowship of the ring.
Aragorn staring at certain death in the form of 200-300 enemies and still faces them with no fear, not only that, he crushes them at will at first killing 5 at the time.
Legolas bow and arrow skills are unmatched, Boromir’s redemption.
No fake trees with green screen behind to simulate a forest, but an actual one right next to a beautiful river.
Lets not forget that masterful soundtrack playing in the background, what a masterpiece
Like boromir Aragorn would of been overwhelmed cept for the fact Legolas and gimli were able to come save him at just the right time. With gimli tanking the orcs Legolas is able to absolutely massacre them while Aragorn rushes to try and save merry, pippin and Boromir. Great scene.
I think the only reason they survived is that the objective was to find hobbits, not killing them. They're far greater warriors but totally outnumbered and Uruk-Hai are incredibly strong.
@@charon_lix why the fuck you hatin!!! Douchebag!!
@Mike V then why are you here? Make your own fucking movies if you hate these so much. Jesus Christ have mercy dude you just have to be that one guy, THAT ONE GUY out to RUIN EVERYTHING for everyone. Also I don't have time to address all your "criticisms" cuz I actually have things to do but here's one "Boromir taking three arrows the size of broomsticks to the chest and continues to kill orcs." oh I'm sorry I'm guessing Tolkien himself is an idiot for writing it to where Boromir not only takes multiple arrows to the chest but keeps fighting in the beginning of The Two Towers, or an idiot for having Pippin say to Denethor "the mightiest man may be slain by a single arrow and Boromir was pierced by many" in The Return of the King. For such a puritan your argument there lacks scope and understanding.
@Jerome 092 I actually visited New Zealand last February and found most of the film locations, the forest where Boromir died is like a 2 hour drive from the river spot where Frodo and Sam depart
1:48 is a great detail. We see Legolas deliver many fatal blows to the Uruk-hai running around in no time at all killing about 5 of them but he takes a small pause before shooting the orc Aragorn is fighting with because he doesn't want to pierce through and hit his friend so he aims for a thicker place on the body/in the armour to keep his arrow in there and then fires. It defines how much training Legolas has had compared to so many as an archer and draws a line between being skilled and then being masterful.
he doesnt pull back as hard
That was the most bravest and most heroic sacrifice Boromir did for the fellowship. Blowing the horn to attract the attention of the Uruk-hai so he could buy enough time for his companions.
Oh I always thought he blew the horn just to get aid from the others. Or am I wrong?
@@brammichielsen7778 he was luring the urukhai directly to him to buy his friends more time.
🐐
@@maning04nah he was defending Merry and Pippin, you don't make yourself a target and defend people at the same time. He was calling for help from the others
@@Peoples_Republic_of_Devonshire well he did tell merry and Pippin to run except it seems they stayed by their own choice to help boromir.
0:12 This moment is one of the best in entire trilogy! The music, the camera angle. Fact that he is the one against all Uruk-Hai!! Goosebumps!!
ELENDIL!
imagine spending billions on that rings of power and still not even come close to this. not even a bit.
All three movies cost 300 mill or so... Money does not compensate for talent and vision.
Amazon no longer has to imagine 😀
It didn't even reach 1% of the epic masterpiece that was the LOTR trilogy
It s good show you just chose to hate it before it started
This was like a once in a life time creation every other LOTR related media will never come close. The hobbit may be the only thing that does
God I miss these movies, Aragorn is hands down a top 5 badass protagonist easily imo
He is tied with 1st with somebody lol I can’t put anybody above him
It's really not the same gender, but despite his story didn't finished, i'd say Guts really is on his level, or maybe even better, AGAIN writing is very different than drawing, but imo Guts goes top tier on being a protagonist on a dark fantasy story
Sadly, although the movies are great, Aragorn in the books is twice as BA as the movie version.
@@donc2446 I like movie version more because he is more sympatic and realistic
Pretty sure Saruman said to Lurtz that he wanted Merry and Pippin 'Alive and unspoiled' if so the Orc at 1:31 would have been in a lot of trouble lol
Lurtz:"were you not listening you fuckin idiot"
Orc: "I'm sorry"
Lurtz:"YOU'RE SORRY?! YOU'RE SORRY?! DID I SAY KILL THE HALFLINGS OR FIND THEM?!, You know what forget it forget it you ruined this for everyone"
so lucky for him, boromir was there if not lurtz would had get a lot trouble :/ strange if you think about it
he said he wanted the halflings as in sam and frodo... merry and pippin were mistaken as frodo and sam
@@eKiEpicKnight so the point still stands
@@eKiEpicKnight He knew that a halfling had the ring, not which one.
The action is perfect. Every kill is loud and awesome. The pace of the fighting is great too. Peter is a genius here
I'm here to see this scene, just to remember how good this movie was. 3 minutes better than 7 episodes of the amazon shit... I think that will never be good as this trilogy.... The fights, the music, everything is better!
The fact that six dudes held off over a hundred makes this one of the best scenes in the franchise
The scene at 1:58 just gives me goosebumps the way its shot and the soundtrack... uhhh
Peter Jackson’s fight, sound, and camera design is so underrated. Such inventive choreography.
The lone wolf defending the pups
"The lone wolf dies, but the pack survives"
Ned stark was "quite wolf" if u meant that. or here yes he is a lone warrior
@@psyo_nade3177 take it however you wish
Is that why in the end there only line wolves left ? And literally all survived alone for 5 seasons lol
Psyo Nade
Ironically, the quiet wolf is also the one with the loudest horn in Middle Earth. Seriously, Minas Tirith ends up hearing that horn in the books.
Sword +10 damge
Stonethrow +99 damage
They often topple down, but you can see them often get up again. Watch it at half speed and watch for the Uruks on the ground. Many of them are definitely not dead.
Hey hobbits are specialists at throwing Stones. Read the books
@@robertfernandez5846 Yes. They're expert throwers. Which is why if hand grenades are invented don't try to invade the Shire.
Stonethrow: 0 damage, 3 second stun.
But Jackson said the orc prosthetics looked fake (when filmed at 60 FPS), hence the need to cgi the hobbit orcs. Here upscaled to 4K the non cgi orcs clearly look way better than the hobbit cgi ones....
you are comparing a professional camera over some youtube settings video. a professional camera would have better resolution than youtube
The special effects at this part are really cool.
At 0:51
Legolas shoots an arrow that doesn't just pierce through the one Uruk, but the second one that runs full force into his buddy gets stabbed and impaled by the same arrow. That detail is fast but a pretty cool double kill.
Aragorn taking on the entire force of Uruk-Hai by himself is the standard by which all badasses are measured.
If you look carefully, you can see Ned Stark at 1:26
Ned stark saving arya and sansa from bolton forces
I see young Ned Stark storming the gates at the siege of Pyke.
I see Richard Sharpe against all those Uruk bastids
Watching this, I think the sword fighting and Legolas’s arrow work was a lot better choreographed than the latter installments of the trilogy. Amazing stuff,.
Agreed, but also it seems that way due to the nature of this film. It’s contained. There aren’t thousands of people fighting. It’s just this small group, so every action taken really shines.
Watching this in 2021. What a redemption for Boromir in the end. This is one of my favorite scenes and also one of the saddest. "I would have followed you my brother...my captain...my king."
I remember reenacting this scene in my backyard as a child...good memories
From this to Rings of Power is just sad...
2:02 I love that music!
I agree. It is so amazing.
Indeed, amazing when Legolas is shooting the wargs in two towers as well
“Hey, why don’t we all attack one at a time?”-Uruk Hai
I think it's useful to remember that, despite their amazing strength, the uruk-hais have ZERO training and experience of fighting. It might be different in the books, but from what we see in the films, they're born in the caves of Isengard and sent to battle right away. A confused group of unexperienced fighters can have a hard time against a seasoned warrior if he uses that confusion smartly.
That's why Aragorn can take down Uruk hais so easily in spite of them being physically superior
In books they were afraid of Boromir's Horn which was magic and make full of fear enemys, in books even Balrog stop at moment chasing Fellowship when Boromir blow his horn
i love how at 1:46 that uruk hi falls before he gets shot.
Fetalouda Probably tried to dodge the arrow
MinecraftZombieSlayer 69xXAssasinXx I don't think so probably it was a minor mistake.
Fetalouda or maybe he tripped over a log lol (the actual actor)
Maybe the elf’s shot is faster than the speed of sound? 😂
@@tomramirez3122 speed of light you mean.
0:27 why does that Orc sound like a sheep ??
that is no orc! that is uruk-hai, their armor is thick and their shields broad
you deserve a medal dude omg that was fuckin win
well at 0:16 there's a Spinosaurus roar
@Merciless Freak No, half-orcs, which are a thing in the book, were bred by Saruman only. Uruk-hai, whether from Saruman or Sauron, are just the biggest, baddest orcs...basically the elite orcs. Uruk=orc, hai=high...high orcs. Don't believe me, look it up.
@@rikk319 While you are right, the true translation for “Uruk-hai”, is “Orc Folk”, or “Orc people”. Not “high orc”, albeit them being an elite race.
that overhead camera angle as they're all running down the hill is like game 7 kobe
I always love that moment when Gimli and Legolas just come in READY.
Never gets old truly is one of the most popular and entertaining movies
That move by Legolas at 0:53 is so badass. Two kills with one arrow.
Thank you for not showing Boromirs death, I don’t care about the decision Boromir made in his life, whatever he did he thought was the best decision for his people. I didn’t want to see the brutally unfair death of a man who fought hard and true of heart in he face of death.
Turkish Prostitute it's sean bean, you should've get used to his death..
A MAGNIFICENT KILL FROM LURTZ
Boromir as a character is awesome, and his story of falling for the temptations of the ring and then redeeming himself by defending the hobbits and fighting to his last breath is amazing!
He never stand a chance against lurts the freaky bowman
@@gop9038 First, Lurtz never has a chance 1vs 1 and Lurtz does not exist in the book
I love Legolas' agility and versatility switching between bow, arrow and daggers. He is master at all of them.
That tracking shot from Aragorn across to where Boromir is fighting is still beautiful to this day. Just great cinematography.
Agree.
2:00 this scene right here is just so beautifully shot I love how it goes aerial following the uruks until the scene changes jackson created a masterpiece trilogy
The whole fight sequence in this movie was just phenomenal but I absolutely love how Gimli comes around the corner and just absolutely darts an Uruk-Hai with his throwing axe 🪓
1:25
Goosebumps everytime
Same
I always love that as soon as boromir has his lapse in judgement because of the ring he snaps back out of it and is right back to being a member of the team and protecting his buddies merry and pippin. It’s sad boromir attacked frodo but it’s what slowly would have happened if he had stayed with anyone but Sam. Like even Aragorn would have eventually be destroyed by it and that would have been really sad to see.
As a kid I used to think how lucky Legolas, Gimlee and Aaragon were not to have crossed paths with Lurtz. Now, I realise how lucky Lurtz was not to cross paths with them.
It’s pretty cool how you see Aragorn getting more fatigued through the course of the battle…makes the final fight very satisfying
Should have included the extended scene with legolas unloading a full quiver. Truly epic film. Great job upscaling.
1:35 this whole scene is perfect with legolas just shootin em down jesus...
Maybe Legolas is a son of Chuck Norris?
In the books the elves would go straight “super” elf at times (the elven heroes said to be on Aragorn level at least), with glorfindel needed to out ride the ringraiths after weather top.
An Aussie
ehhh
The elves heroes like Glorfindel, Feanpr, Fingolfin would Solo godstomp these uruks. Feanor battled half a douzen Balrogs, Glorfindel KILLED a balrog and Fingolfin ... fought 1v1 against MELKOR lmao they are LEAGUES above Aragorn most of them are easily Maia level of power
Gilgamesh yea in fact its the opposite way around with aragorn being the level of some elf heroes because Aragorn is fricken badass for a human 😂🤣
Satire I agree that Aragorn is literally the strongest human in the last decades but he’s not First age Elven Level...
That sound design at the beginning where you can hear the rumble of their feet and the rattling of weapons and armor!
Crazy how this battle was just 300 years ago from today. Mindblown on the idea of where we came from..
1:40 Fastest archer in history
When I first saw it as a kid I thought the orcs are all tomato cans, but they can prob each bench 405 lbs
Lol
This is ten times better than any modern cgi fight scene. ıt may look tacky when you really nit pick, but because everything is so real, everything has weight, nothing looks plastic or fake.
Minute for minute, this and the next bit are some of the greatest movie time ever.
this dude aragorn totally walks out cool, calm and collected knowing hes the badder and gnarlier fighter on this field, swings and tells his sword "lets fuck some shit up" and proceeds to. his balls are now considered weapons in middle earth
There's a reason this movie still holds up 20 years later. If this were the hobbit, every single Uruk would've been CGI and there's a 90% chance that the set (the outdoors lol) would've been CGI too.
2:00 that deep horns trills me since the first time I saw this movie in cinema. so easy, so terrifying, so good!
It's been 20 years but the feeling is still the same everytime i watch this scene. I still feel sad for boromir 😢
I vividly remember seeing this movie in theaters. Can't believe that was twenty years ago.
0:45 see how he realistically stuck the sword into the orc) Left flank
Aragorn had an arrogance about him just before the fight starts as he raises his sword. He sort of smiles slightly or even a small smirk, and is like - you think you can take me? Even though being heavily outnumbered. A true warrior. I love it!
The one Uruk actor at 2:08, running all carefully trying not to trip down the stairs over his costume always bothered me.
2:18 That's crazy how Boromir is able to toss that orc over his head like that, especially considering how strong orcs (or Uruk-hai) are
For as much as i disliked Boromir for how he acted in the movie, he’s a still a beast. I always thought hes was going to betray frodo but he came through.
Best. Movies. Ever. And no other movie will ever change that.
Lotr trilogy will live on as one of the best ever.
Yes, it is probably the best adaptation ever.
These movies are almost 20 years old now and the war scenes still look better than any current movies.
These hero’s alone could cripple or kill an entire Orc army.
they would end up exhausted at some point...
I love how badass Aragorn is, no F's given, he knows what he has to do and does it and isn't afraid to do it.
Amazon will never even come close to this. Money sometimes cannot buy you great talented people who respect LOTR and make amazing adaptations.
I just finished the trilogy today with my 8 year old. And I still cried at Into The West. I'll wait to show him The Hobbit, till after I finish reading it to him. Anyways, about Uruk-Hai; what strange creatures. They're grown, not born and raised. So they have no memories? Where do they get their personalities?
Uruk Hai was once an Elf..dark Elf..Saruman mentioned in Two Towers
CGi is good for blowing the eyes.
But natural set, talented and trained actors and right interpretation of deep characters are what create memories, empathy and immersion.
I'm juste maybe an old dog, but i've seen this scene so many times those 20 years and still get the chill, where it took the entire mcu to build the (great) "wow" effect of Avengers great battle, was impressed the first time, but this impression won't last has long.
And Boromir's still the badass :p He truly was. Tolkien was no fool. In order to show how dangerous and corruptible the Ring was, he needed a true hero to succomb to it, not some overrated coward.
And Boromir's redemption show why Sauron doesn't take humans lightly, and how powerfull bravery can be.
Still, i'm wondering...If Saruman's minions hadn't shown up and given Boromir's weakness time to affect the rest of the community...
21 years now and still the best adventure movie ever created. So ahead of it's time.
Love their movement in this scene. How aragorn slash through uruk hai is rough and realistic. Those knife and axe throw is solid
Everyone wants to be Aragorn. But we are more likely a Boromir. He struggled but in the end gave all for the fellowship. The shot of him running up to save Merry and Pippin gets me every time.🫡
I always thought it was crazy how Boromir realizing he made a mistake by trying to take the ring from Frodo is what made him become a hero.
We not gonna acknowledge how Legolas is a fucking sniper with that bow?
Gotta love the sound of Legolas arrows flying!
Dude Gimilli was totally the support in this fight. He kept the ADC (Aaragorn) alive. XD Boromir was top lane but got taken over...Its only because the team had two junglers(Pippin and Mary) for some reason and didnt gank.
At 0:57, the Uruk that gets its ankles cut out from under it by Aragorn and tumbles over its head sounds just like the Spinosaurus roar from Jurassic Park 3. Never noticed that until now...
Helms Deep and Pelenor Feilds are great. But these small skirmishes have such a more claustrophobic feel. Every swing and slice is intimate and keeps you wondering what’s next
the best movie of 2001
Quite simply the three greatest films of all time
Nothing looks better than real extras and props
Woah! They made a live action version of Lego Lord Of The Rings?
Teh finest moosic this came first /s
Genos idiot ur the one that got wooshed, he said /s which means he’s sarcastic
That shot to the urak-hai’s shin always makes me wince 😂
0:46 so far in the movie we have seen the Fellowship fight together. It's about here where we see the absolute dream team of Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli form, and start kicking asses and taking names.
1:45 where tf was this fella going🤣🤣🤣
And he tripped before getting shot
2:00 This shot looks awesome, but it also shows us how far Aragorn has to go to reach Boromir, and how many Uruks are in his way.
That crane shot at the beginning... still amazes.
2:39 boromir does a move and then Pippin does the same move. Boromir was teaching the hobbits how to fight. I can’t remember if he taught them in the books but I know he was always voicing concern for the hobbits in the book. More so than any other member. One of my favorite characters
I like this part because it shows what the bad guys wanted and avoided the others to get to their goal
Aragorn the Brave in action💪💪💪
The way he approaches the uruks without fear is a testament to his ancestors bravery in his blood. Beren and Eärendil are ever present.
I know Boromir dies in this part of the movie but he was an absolute beast in this scene. To one-handed grab an axe that's in the midst of a massive two-handed swing, yank it from said foe and then proceed to dispatch said foe with the same axe-savage.
Legolas and his NEVER Emptying Quiver is like the old 200 shot revolvers in the old Westerns or Police movies.
I also liked the attention to detail added from the books as merry and pippin launch stones at the uruks. In the books Tolkien writes that hobbits have impeccable aim with throwing stones.
This entire scene alone is better than Rings of Power.
Everything about this sequence is an absolute masterpiece, except for Merry and Pipin being able to take down the Urak-hai with stones…
Somehow this movie and the rest of the trilogy look more convincing and more awesome than any movie coming out today. How is that possible?
I remember watching this in the cinema after the movie there was a standing ovation. Haha
I always loved how Gimli would stick close to Legolas to cover him in CQC
And he saved Aragorn at 1:05 as well 😊
The left direction of the yellow bar is still 10/11
Such a gangster walk from Aragon at the start. Knows the mission, completely focused and doesn't give a fuck.
0:38
He didn’t get a lot of screen time. But he sure made the most of it
