    I cut my large scrunchies 7” wide and can be 40”- 46” long depending on the fabric.
    I like the scrunchie to look full even when wrapped around a twice.
    The ¼” elastic is cut at 10” long so can easily be tied like a balloon.
    Adjust fabric and elastic length to your liking😊. Have fun sewing!!

    If you make and sell scrunchies often, a really great place to get material are thrift stores. You could ask the shop manager to put all “junk clothes” (they throw out anything that isn't floor ready) in box for you to purchase at a set price.
    In return you'd save money on fabric, contribute to charity, keep useable goods out of the landfill! You can have a complete eco-friendly section of your business, which people love. 😁
    *Quick note I share this idea with basically every serious scrunchie channel I watch. To hopefully help charities, and reduce waste. A little adds up to a lot. ❤️

    fantastic video. Never thought about using t-shirt material. what's even better is that its upcycling clothing. love it. I do have 1 question though, when sewing t-shirt material do you need to use a jersey or stretch jersey needle?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  10 місяців тому +2

      Ideally yes use a ballpoint needle for jersey. A regulate needle may pierce the fabric. Just test on a piece of scrap to see if the regular needle is ok.

    I just bought my first singer sewing machine and am completely new to sewing. I saw in few other videos that they use different stitch for stretchy material. Here I see you used straight stitch. Can you please explain which stitch is good for stretchy material?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  2 роки тому +1

      I just use straight stitch for making scrunchies with stretchy materials because the fabric itself is not stretched out. Just the elastic is being stretched. To sew stretch material for clothing, it is best to use a 4 or 5 thread serger , zig zag or a stretch stitch on a domestic machine. Cheers!

    okay so i just tried this and it’s my very first time sewing haha so whenever i go to flip the strunchie inside out i have this long piece of fabric that isn’t sewn but when i’m finished sewing it looks like all my fabric is all sewn it. Does anyone know what i could be doing wrong?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  2 роки тому +2

      Not really clear what you mean but my guess is that you are stretching your fabric when sewing and not matching the sides equally. Maybe try this method first as it might be a bit easier for you as a beginner. ua-cam.com/video/17REeULcwTI/v-deo.html
