I adjusted the core clock speeds down by 100Mhz from your starting point and was able to run cinebench. Is that where you would normally start when the system isn’t stable, or would you tweak voltages first? I have used asus ai overclock but the vcore was closer to 1.42 which I think is to high. Actually its kind of high... When stress testing you wanna aim to stay in the 80-90 max, 95c is very hot and can potentially damage components overtime... Trust me, I know from experience, I left my old 4790K unmonitored for too long and noticed I was gaming in the 90s very often. When I looked inside the PC, the backplate had turned blue and the system has been unstable for a bit now. Had to undervolt and disable Turbo Boost to keep my temps under control

      96C is perfectly fine if that's what you were experiencing in Cinebench. It pulls an unrealistic amount of power. You will never get that hot in regular use. If you weren't throttling there's absolutely nothing to worry about. By the way Cinebench is not a stability test and should never be used as such lol. It's just a benchmark. Y-Cruncher, AIDA64, OCCT, and Prime95 are good stability tests to see if your overclock is actually stable. Cinebench is not a stability test lol.

    • @PabzRoz
      @PabzRoz Рік тому

      @@fantaz_official Idk about the 4790K but hitting 90C+ during stress tests is perfectly fine. And those temperatures will not degrade your CPU are cause any problems. As long as your below tjmax you're completely fine. Alder Lake processors can handle that heat completely fine. Unless you're throttling 24/7 there's nothing to worry about. And even if you do throttle in certain stress tests or are in the 90C+ range during stability tests like Prime95, Y cruncher, or a benchmark like Cinebench that's perfectly fine because they pull an unrealistic amount of power. You will never see that high of power draw during gaming or normal use. Not even close. My 12700K OC'd to 5.3ghz is in the 90C range during Cinebench and throttle on 2 cores during Prime95 but when gaming It's in the 60C range and doing regular workloads it never passes 80C.

    • @PabzRoz
      @PabzRoz Рік тому

      For the 12700K setting any vcore lower then 1.29v in adaptive mode at 5ghz will be ignored. When setting the vcore in adaptive mode anything lower then the default v/f curve for the specified core ratio is ignored which is basically the same as leaving it on auto. Use negative offsets in adaptive mode to lower your voltage. And if you're seeing 1.31v in something like HWinfo it's not always accurate.

    • @cas0r
      @cas0r Рік тому

      16400 is definitely not a very good score for an overclocked 12700K. I get 16505 with no overclock at all (but a slight undervolt). Since I am aircooling my CPU I only overclocked it for testing reasons to allcore 4,9GHz and went up to 16930 points (with temperatures maxing out at 89C in prime95 small FFTs). 5,0GHz allcore ran stable in all benchmarks but kept crashing in real stresstests like aida64 and prime95 (I didn't play with the voltage, pretty sure that would've solved the problems), so in my case wasn't an option.
      I went with no overclock at all at the end because my main focus was on noise and thermals so I just stuck with a -0,085V offset and turned on thermal velocity boost. Temps peaked at 82C in prime95 with the case fans running at around 600rpm and the cpu fans at around 1200 (74 in Cinebench R23 with 500/1000). CSGO runs in the mid to high 50s with average 800fps (the +200MHz allclock oc got me an extra 40fps) on 1280*960 competitive settings with very low noise levels (400/700). While regular desktop usage the system is dead silent and runs in the low 30s (350/350).
      My suggestion is that you are running various background tasks that are stealing cpu performance (rgb software, logitech gaming / corsair icue hub etc.). I've benchmarked my PC after the initial build and os installation (including several benchmarks, mainboard manufacturer and other propriatery software etc) and again after I installed a fresh windows copy without any of the above mentioned programs and upped all cpu scores by around 200 points, so that is sth. to keep in mind.

      Leave your LLC on auto then try it again and see if it boots. If it does than find an LLC mode that works best for you. If that doesn't change anything try increasing the voltage a little. Not every 12700K is capable of the same overclock. Some processors need more voltage than other to achieve the same overclock. And some can overclock much better than others you might have just gotten a bad sample. If increasing the voltage doesn't help then dial back the core ratio some. It's all about finding the right settings that work for your specific processor and system.

    man i'm really regretting buying my Prime Z690 P D4 motherboard all the overclock guides i see has different options than mine
    for example the most important one is the [ CPU Core/Cache Voltage ] option is not there on mine instead i have the following ones :
    Actual VRM Core Voltage
    Global Core SVID Voltage
    Cache SVID Voltage
    and i have no idea what do i do with them i've tried alot and i keep getting BSOD's / Black Screens then restart / Freezes and i honestly started to be scared that i brick my cpu so i just gave up and used it without OC i tried to copy your settings the stability was fine but the temps were 100 instantly in Cinebench 20 and 84 to 87 with CPU Z and it's weird because i have Noctua NH-U12A which's even better than D15 for 12th gen i know water would be different but the point is the settings is the main issue not the cooler

      I'm not very familiar with that mobo but you can also download Intel extreme tuning utility. That program writes to bios.

      When it comes to PC components one i do not want to go cheaper on is the mobo. I've dealt with numerous mobos and I've ran into problems with the lower end ones trying to push the clocks because they just couldn't handle the power draw and the vrms couldn't handle it.

      but it was actual vrm core voltage is the one you suppose to play with

      This particular motherboard has 8-pin + 6-pin EPS (CPU) power inputs. It is recommended to use the 8+6 and not just 8-pin for a nice power delivery

    Have you tested adaptive voltage with negative offset (undervolt)? I haven't had any time to tinker around with my i5 12600K, but I did undervolt it a bit. Went from ~140W power draw (cinebench r23 10min test) to ~115W (cinebench r23 10min test) using adaptive voltage (auto) with -100mV offset got the same score with 35W less power draw and way lower temps. Seems like the way to go for most people not using a decent AIO, you could probably tinker a bit with the core frecuencies and get even better efficiency/results. Also If you wanna test the most demanding workload for an Intel/Alder Lake CPU you should test with Prime95 small FFTs.

      This is a customers pc but I'll mess around with it on mine. I did a 2 minute oc in ietu today on my 12700k and 18k plus. Should be able to get 18500 on it

      I got 17800 with 1.25v with an - 150 offset. It shot my temps from 40c idle to 21c idle since it’s the ambient in my room. Really good if you want to try some stability with low temps. Cinebench never broke 72c on 30 min testing!

      @@Hardwaretuned that’s awesome man!! What kind of temps were you getting? I only under clocked the cpu because my 360 AIO was still stabilizing at 42c idle which was ridiculous for an idle in my opinion. Thanks for the reply too brotha! This was a cool introduction to your channel
