Derek Wilton from Coronation Street, before he married dithering Mavis Riley 😁

I'd never heard of that Six Weeks movie. Dudley Moore made some rough films.

Does he call the man from the audience “John” at 17:11?
I think the Mr & Mrs is probably the best bit of the show, but even then Barrymore is overdoing thing so much he tramples the jokes.

The thinnest of thin gruel. How did these programmes ever get commissioned... 😞

Is this a John Cleese impersonation. I am confused.

Yes, it’s obviously heavily Basil Fawlty inflected as that would be the most recognisable version of Cleese to a mainstream audience but it also has that hint of how Cleese plays authority figures in Python etc.

Barry more impersonating a Police officer has a certain sense of irony.

He really wasn't very good early in his career. He got better with time but honestly these sketches are not funny. I'm surprised he was talent scouted in the first place. Having his own show. They say theres nothing on tv these days.
Even if the pool death never happened I still reckon his career would've died. Comedy like this would be considered dull today.
