    This was great. I have a M6 and an XP3 with my late father’s Leica lens he used in the 1950s. Film has become so expensive that I often grab my XP3 to shoot photos.

    So I do the photography/camera thing, and more recently finding the tactile pleasures of fountain pens (love brass and other metal designs). That makes your videos a pretty good match for me, and I appreciate your casual but knowledgeable style. So make more videos! I'm already feeling cheated that your aren't more prolific! Found you through the Wotencraft bag video, and now checked 'em all out. I get it, you've got a life. But just sayin'. Cheers!

    I had an X-Pro3 that I absolutely loved, but I sold it for an X-H2s recently. My eyes aren’t the greatest anymore, so the bigger and better viewfinder is a game changer for me. That and the top screen makes it much easier to see the settings that I couldn’t see before. The X-H2 and X-H2s are built like like mini tanks too. Nothing beats the overall vibe of the X-Pro series though!

    I LOVE MY X-PRO3, I would buy an XPRO-4 if they ever released one! I myself also OWN and shoot with an M6! Love the M11 but way out of my price range, my next cam if NOT THE X-PRO-4 will be the Leica Q3. Here is a little tip on the X-Pro 3, you DO NOT have to flip the screen out to view a pic, you can hit the play button and view the image just taken thru your viewfinder.

    Couldn't agree more re: your comments about arbitrary designs to meet current consumer demands. I am one of those people who own an X-T5 (also have an X100F), and whilst the performance of the X-T5 is superb, I do feel as though its too technically superb and certainly does not provide me with an analog experience.
    Having said that, the X-T5 is not designed to provide an analog experience I guess.
    I will be looking at an X-Pro 3 tomorrow with the thought of purchasing it as my main street camera. I do have concerns about the ribbon/screen issue, however Fujifilm replace them for free when required, PLUS I have it on (seemingly) good authority that the X-Pro 4 will be released in 2026... I figure I could shoot with the X-Pro 3 for now and consider an upgrade in two years, depending on whether Fujifilm stay true to the X-Pro roots and do not spec it up too much.

    I share your philosophy. I once owned a Leica M6 and sought to digitize the 35mm Summilux lens I had at the time. I did this with a wonderful Fujifilm XE3. Since then, I've owned 7 more Fujis X. In summary, I greatly enjoyed the XE3, and I ended up keeping only an Xpro1, with its sweet sensor and marvelous colors, and the Xpro3, the best digital camera I've ever had. This is my experience.

    I love the xpro3. I had a Leica M type 240, with a 35lux an a 75cron. Sold it. And bought a xpro3. Now, some years later i have a xh2s (mostly for video). An xpro 3. And…well an Leica M10r with, you might guess it, an 35lux. And I will buy a 75mm cron when I find one used (disclaimer, I bought all my fuji gear new and all Leica gear used).
    Bottom line….what he said. If you have the budget, own both.

      @MatthewMorse  Рік тому +1

      If I had the budget, there'd be an M10 or 11 sitting in my bag, but I just can't get there right now. I do love the experience of shooting with the M6 enough that a digital M is always sort of in the back of my mind. I don't want to go as far back as the M8 or M9 for various reasons, and I've never really loved the idea of the M240 as I think it's a little bit expensive for such an old camera. If I'm investing in a digital M, I'd want it to be newer than those so it's at least a little bit future-proof and holds its value somewhat well.

As you said, it ticked all my old film nostalgia boxes. I even went a step further and shoot jpeg with all their great film presets and sometimes use a pro mist filter to get a more filmic look. Great video. Thanks. I agree. They’ve sold their soul. Let’s hope they can redeem themselves soon. I didn’t see the point in moving from the 2 to the 3 and I haven’t regretted that. I prefer the extra scope the 2’s OVF gives you. Like others, I feel that the feel of the images out of the two is, on balance, the best. But there was definitely something quite unique about what you could get from the 1. It just lacked a bit of resolution for what I needed. Anyway, thanks again and keep it up

      I wouldn't mind more (or less) megapixels. I'm not a pixel peeper, nor do I ever blow things up to the point that I need tons of megapixels. I also don't really crop (other than a slight crop as a result of straightening a photo) so I'm with you in that I'd like the sensor to stay the same. I like the way this one renders. I didn't like the way the one in the XT5 rendered, though. It felt really clean and didn't have that little bit of grittiness that I get from the XPro3, which I like for my style of photography.
      I'd just like to see an XPro4 as a continuation of the line in hopes that maybe the XPro3 would get a little bit of a second wind from the continuation.

    Great video. I agree , that is why i hold the original X100 in high regard . I really feel like Fuji nailed it with the sensor/lens combo. The current firmware 2.11 makes it a different performer. The jpegs are just real to me. Have you ever tried one ?

    • @MatthewMorse
      @MatthewMorse  Рік тому +1

      I've tried most of the X100 cameras (the original, X100T, F and V), and I liked the original quite a bit, but that was when it first came out, and I felt that it was just a little... too quirky? I'd probably feel differently about it with newer updates, but my favorite of them all was the X100V. It felt very polished, refined and usable. The only reason I parted with mine was because I wanted to have the ability to swap lenses. I tried using the converters for the X100V, but found them to be a little clunky in use and figured if I was going to carry a few extra lenses anyway, I might as well get an XPro of some iteration.
      If the X100V was more readily available at a more reasonable price, I'd consider having one alongside my XPro3, but at the current prices, you can almost just get an XPro3 and 23mm f/2 (and could definitely get an XPro2 and 23mm).

    LOL the back filmy thing sucks. I hate it and wish Fuji had left it off! Also note that the Leica app is amazing and how all apps should be. I bought my M6 and v4 35 cron in 89 and it still going but moved to the xpro when the xpro2 came out because of film prices and mixing chemistry with kids around. Have not looked back and bought two xpro 3s so when or if one craps out, I have another in the box. I also have a Q2 but would prefer it to have a 35 over 28. Don't bother with a digital M. I broke down and got the M10R, hated it, sold it two months later. Good news was I got out of it for what I paid for it because it was the black paint model and very limited. I bet I would have been fine with the M10D but it was discontinued. If they do a M11D I would buy it because the Leica app is that good and I don't need a back screen on my cameras and love the xpro3 for that flip up out of my way. Best.

    It’s kinda interesting as almost all Fuji sensors seems to have their fans. I had the X-M1 (same sensor as X-Pro1), X-Pro2 and now X-Pro3 and I think hands down the 2 has the most beautiful sensor. 3 is decent, but I’m struggling to get the images as beautiful as the 2 in low light. That camera just had ”grain” (digital inherent to the sensor, not som post-processing stuff). Though I suspect that maybe I haven’t quite mastered using the X-Pro3 yet. I love it in every other way though.

      @torb-no 9 місяців тому

      @@ryantolentino5491 Hmm. People say 3 has more detail though I don’t care enough to pixel peep. I also notice 3 have better autofocus in lower light.
      Ultimately I think both give great results, so I’d choose based on which design you like and what use pattern you feel fit you.
      I love the back screen design of X-Pro3. I like that it’s hidden most of the time, yet I can quickly flip it out for a waist level shot. With X-Pro2 I had to cycle through view modes to get the screen to turn off or on, which was slow and error probe. I also love the bigger optical viewfinder on the 3 (esp as I wear glases). And it’s maybe a bit silly, but I love the silver titanium finnish of the 3. The 3 has face detect autofocus that actually works! I also love the tiny subdisplay at the back that’s always on. I can always quickly glance at it before going out to check that I have enough battery or space left for images.
      That said, the 2 has it’s pros too. It’s easier to get beautiful images with the raw files (though I’ve gotten better with the 3, so I like both now). The 2 also have two magnifications for the OVF, so you in some sense better for both wide and tele, but at the cost of being much worse if you wear glasses. The screen at the back is certainly an advantage if you like to shoot using the back LCD a lot or you look at your images a lot.
      Honestly you kinda can’t go wrong. They’re both fantastic cameras!

    • @torb-no
      @torb-no 9 місяців тому

      @@ryantolentino5491 One more pro for the 2: since it doesn’t have a flip out screen, but the screen is built into the body it feels more solid.
      And related con to the 3: There’s been a good amount of people who have had the cable connecting the back screen fail on them, making the back screens non-functional. I’ve never had issues with my pair of 3s though.

    Thanks for this video. Shooting a Leica M vs a Fuji X-Pro is somewhat similar (similar aperture/shutter controls/form factor/etc.) but there are differences. Obviously they don't use the same lens mount although you can use an adapter to put M lenses on a Fuji body, blah, blah blah. I've been experimenting with a hybrid film/digital system where I can use the same auto/manual focus lenses on film or digital bodies.

For the most part the lenses and bodies are interchangeable, however there are many asterisks. For example the newer autofocus lenses without aperture rings won't work on older non-autofocus cameras. Fujifilm has lost its focus on what they use to do so well for the old school photographer that use to shoot on film in the day its why I jumped ship from being a Canon shooter for nearly 20 years. I honestly believe FujiFILM has lost it's soul and are now building smaller and cheaper made cameras catering to videographers and now content creators. I get they have to chase that market BUT I would hope they 'stay True' and make the Xpro4 close to the same build quality as the Xpro3 yet with yes a better Auto focus system, new processor BUT not with video specs that this model is not catering for, in fact I hope there is NO video functionality built into it period. It doesnt have to be a hybrid body.
