    You probably won’t see this because it is an older video, but for what it is worth - you inspired me to go pick one up. I have been actively shooting with Fuji X-T3/4 the past three years; new to the hobby. What I have discovered, particularly after picking up a used X-E2S, is that I enjoy the smaller, range-finder style camera and so I finally broke down and made the switch today. Traded in the E2S and a lens I never touch and picked up a black one. I am in love with it already and I think your 10 reasons are all valid. Some I had with the X-T cameras but the bottom line is I just love the way this camera looks and feels and so reason #10 is why I got it. I realized when I watched this today that I had seen it before and so in the end, I am blaming you for convincing me to spend the money. Just in case you get a call from my wife 😏

    One really important feature of the Hybrid viewfinder that you didn't mention, and a lot of people don't know is that you can use the small preview window to show you the EVF preview of the entire frame.
    I never switch from this. I compose the shot, look down to see how it will appear when shot, and take the picture - you don't even need to check the final photo in camera, because you saw it before you clicked. Awesome, awesome, amazing.

    When I read forums and blogs about all the reasons why the XPro3 viewfinder is a step back from the XPro2, the frame lines being inadequate etc, the rear screen setup etc...I wonder whether those people actually enjoy taking photos and if they ever just go out and relax doing so. This thing is a joy to use and truly does let you focus more on taking pictures that fiddling with dials and settings.

    Just a quick comment about the shooting experience in the studio: You can turn off exposure/wb preview, and that would make the EVF sort of function like an OVF, but with the film simulation and depth of field preview still applied. It’s quite handy!

      @@TheZachMendez Well, the 2.8 is not the one with the top ace performance, but it just works more than fine for me and i never noticed any optical problems in my images.
      So there really needs to be a clear purpose to have the more expensive, bigger, heavier one.
      I chose the 35mm 1.4 over the 35mm 2, though. Because there is a tiny bid of optical imperfection in the 1.4 that made me fall in love with Fuji to begin with. So i just sold the 35mm 2.

I have the desire to have the flexibility to make my life easier. Most importantly, I have the $$$ to have dual systems and multiple lenses. I’m not a professional. I use Panasonic & Fuji for my street work. I don’t use my Fuji for video much, thus the Panasonic. I value mirrorless. I value lite weight. Just purchased a used Xpro3 from B&H. I have the XPro3 and the X100V. I have had 3 iterations of the X Series and cant imagine shooting without it. My X Series cameras have been with me for well over a year of traveling in Europe. Before 2020, I took my XPro2 before I upgraded. It came out of my room where ever I was maybe 10% of the time. However, what I like about the XPro3 or 2 is that I am able to change my mind about the focal length. Recently, not being able to spend time in the cities I love, I am carrying the XPro3 with 16mm/f2.8 and a 50mm/f2 lenses. The form factor, small body and light weight are great combinations to make it possible to utilize a different focal length. I am pretty sure if the XPro Series did not exist, my sense is I would not own a camera other than the X 100 Series. So, I saw Zach does not own both anymore. However, I also get the reason for having both. Regards.....Wayne

    Hi Zach, great channel. I still use the X-Pro1 with the 18/2 and 35/1.4 and was thinking of getting the ‚fujicrons‘. They do transform the X-Pro1 in a different camera, speed wise. Still hesitate as I like the two lenses I own, also WR is not something I need as the XP1 is not, and also wan‘t to keep things as minimal as possible. I just shoot for myself, so no need to get crazy gear wise 🤪. Maybe once I upgrade to the XP3 (love the hidden screen) it makes sense to go ‚fujicrons‘. What is your opinion? Have you tried the 1.4 versions....
    Cheers from Switzerland

    • @TheZachMendez
      @TheZachMendez  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, Michel! Thanks for watching! I'm so glad you found the channel. It's hard for me to know since I don't know much about your style of shooting. I haven't used the 1.4 versions, but my sense is that they are really stellar lenses & if you are happy with them, I don't know if the F/2 versions would add anything for you. Maybe when you get a weather sealed body, that could be a plus? I have the F/2 because they are less expensive and smaller and I have faster aperture lenses on my Canon system. I hope this helps 😊

    • @michel559
      @michel559 3 роки тому

      @@TheZachMendez thx for that quick reply, very much appreciated. Yeah I think it would make sense with a WR body. The 35/1.4 and 18/2 are small enough and the image quality is great with the older 1st trans sensor. I like the shape of the fujicrons. I just shoot personal stuff, for my own enjoyment. I do a bit of night shooting (well evenings but here it gets dark at 5pm these days) as I have small kids and that is the time window I have at the moment 🥴. So the original XPro lenses make sense. I also don‘t need speed. I like to take my time. I recently bought the 7Artisans 35/1.2 used for nothing, just to try and have a manual lens if I feel like. Wow very cool to shoot with it, smooth to operate and a character on its own....
      If I upgrade the body I think the 23/35/50 crons are ideal for a personal set up. Small light bring everywhere. So far the XP1 works just fine, very simple menu and a joy to use.
      Cheers
      Ps: wouldn‘t you love a fuji XP camera w/o back screen at all? Just the necesarry, beauty in simplicity .....

    I am still living and loving my XE-3, waiting to put the pennies together for the X-Pro 3.
    As someone that is on the go and needs something more robust with the film simulations - I have to say I just want that X-Pro 3 - bad.
    Your video is just more proof as to why I wish to own one - sooner, rather than later.|
    Thanks.
    My go-to lens is the fuji 50mm and 23mm - they are weather-sealed and are the two focal lengths I enjoy shooting the most.
    My rule of thumb, if it doesn't fit in my pocket - I do not take it. I hate carrying a camera bag.
    So I usually have one lens in my pocket and one on the camera.
    I have the 16mm 1.4 - but it is a monster - great photos - but I do not use it that much. Sad.
    Perhaps I should sell it for the 16mm 2.8 WR - which is smaller and I would probably take it with me.
    Finding the right telephoto in WR and also the size is important (needs to be pocket-size).
    I think (for now) the 23mm WR and 50mm WR are both perfect focal lengths, fstops, WR, and small (pocket size).
    Just need the X-Pro 3.
    Thanks again for the video - makes me happy to see others happy with their camera.
    Inspiring me to pull the trigger - just a big nut to pay for me.

But when I went to pay, they were out of stock lol - so I'll wait until they call me. Instead of shaming me for not knowing what I don't know yet, he kept saying things like, "you'll learn, it's no problem!" - so yea, great experience all around, and worth waiting to purchase from him because of the well-deserved commission he'll get.

    I have a question and i’ll try to be clear in English because i’m french 😒:
    I know that you can customize the optical viewfinder to « review » quickly the pic you just took. And that can appear from the little corner in the viewfinder or by a quick view on the evf.
    Is this possible with the electric viewfinder ? I mean : can you review the picture you just took for a half or a quarter of second ?

    how do i determine what the photos should look like in the camera? Sometimes when i try to take photos with my xt20 i look at the screen/EVF and it looks great. Then I take the photo and the photo is super-dark. I wish they looked the same: the image in the viewfinder/screen and the actual photo when i take one....

  • @lsamoa
    @lsamoa Рік тому

    Being an old-timer who started with film, I honestly don't get why one would go for this viewfinder instead of using the LCD screen. As much as I love Fujifilm cameras, their OVF are really bad compared to old film cameras. They're blurry and have a tint, whereas the old ones where crystal clear and got you perfect manual focus, so it's not like this is recreating the film camera experience. The #1 thing I Iove about digital cameras is the LCD screen. Being able to see what photo you just took so you can retake it if needed is so much better than having to wait 2 weeks for the photo to come back form the lab and realize you'd have prefered to compose it differently. Why do away with this great feature and force yourself to use a bad one instead? I really don't get it.

Why not? These 2 cameras shares too much similarities. I really hope Fujifilm sticks with 26MP pixels and never goes up. Clarity is not a key factor of Fujifilm after all. Auto-focus performance enhancement is the most anticipated.

    Great stuff, Zach. I own Xpro2 and would never sell it. So many memories attached to it. Only considering about one thing: I have the GFX50S with the best lenses (110 is awesome) and thought to have it for prof jobs. But it's sometimes slow. So I got the XT4 recently (I started enjoing videos too, but mainly focussed on stills, especially portraits).
    The thing is, I am often on travel and love travel/street portraits. And I think about finding a new apartment and adding the one room is my little studio - so therefore the GFX would be cool.
    And now I am thinking would it be better to sell XT4 and and GFX for a full frame cam?
    My buddy who sold me the cameras would tell me: "Stop overthinking. Start shooting."
    What would you give me as advice? Is FF such a crucial thing for prof jobs?

    • @TheZachMendez
      @TheZachMendez  3 роки тому +2

      Hi, Christoph! Thank you for the comment - this is such a good question and one that I could make an entire video about! It is hard for me to answer or offer advice since I don't know enough about you, what you like shooting, how you use your cameras, etc. BUT, what I can say is that your friend has a point, sometimes we think too much about gear and not enough about what it does for us. I am SO GUILTY of this, and UA-cam does not make it any better haha... The X-T4 with a GFX sounds like a dream setup, but it all depends on how you use your camera. For me, I have found that my full frame Canon cameras allow me to create consistent professional work that I am happy with. I know I can rely on that gear to give me what I want. The X-Pro3 is there for more creative shots on a pro shoot or as my everyday/personal camera. But that doesn't mean that you need full frame for pro jobs. When you forget about the gear you are using to make the work, and focus only on the work, that's when you know the gear is right for your professional work because it doesn't get in the way. Anyway, just my quick thoughts about this. Hope it helps! Thanks for watching and for the comment 😊

      The GFX 100S has changed the game. It is not much more expensive than the Canon R5 but will give you much better IQ for Pro Work. But it is small enough and fast enough that you can use it for street and travel as well. The lenses remain large, but you have to 500m pancake for example. So I'm actually debating getting rid of my X-T3 and getting the GFX 100S. Maybe I'll get the Pro3 (used to have the Pro2 and am missing it) and combine it with the GFX 100S.

    The apsc isn't what helped them to achieve such a small body size. Actually the Leica M10 is smaller and has an fx sensor. It's heavier but I think it's because they use brass. Xpro3 is titanium for the upper and lower plates.
