You're smart . And very intuitive . Your reactions are noteworthy for astute insights and credibility , given your background in music . Blessings to you and your dear ones in His doubtless Guarantee of Everlasting Life (John 3:16) .
Roger Daltry is the singer and his mates are Pete Townshend on guitar. John Entwhistle, bass player second to none and the maniac on the drums, Keith Moon!! Terrific band my husband saw them years ago!!
It's interesting because those jumps you're seeing Pete Townsend do became a staple later on of live punk performances. He was also known for what came to be called the Windmill, which is the way that he would strike the guitar sometimes and his arm would do a whole sweep around a circle and then hit it again with a flourish. A lot of history right here.
Great song! Really like their early stuff from the 60's-70's. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century & have sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have so many great songs such as "I Can't Explain", "The Kids Are Alright", "My Generation", "Magic Bus", "Substitute", "I Can See For Miles", "Behind Blue Eyes", "Boris The Spider", "Pictures Of Lily", "Pinball Wizard" etc.
What a joy to see your first reaction to live Who, sweet Blessing. ❤ The front man is Roger Daltrey, and the lead guitarist and songwriter is Pete Townsend. They have been around since the 1960s, and Pete and Roger are still leading the band live to this day. I've had the good fortune to see them five or six times, and every performance was epic. A great song from the same concert is "Won't Get Fooled Again." It's such a kick to watch your discovery journey, my divine friend. 🥰
And also bassist John Entwistle, a.k.a. The Ox, an island of stability in a sea of chaos [I like chaos.] and Keith Moon, a.k.a. Moon the Loon, a certifiable mad man and crazed drummer. Both have gone on to "The Great Gig in the Sky." I would normally say rest in peace, but I think a more appropriate epitaph is ROCK ON!
There is another performance of the show on video and I can't remember which one it is but it's one of their classics and at the end the front man Rodger Daltrey is just spinning that mic around from several feet down the cable from the mic itself and throwing it up in the air and it's borderline dangerous. And then in the end, Pete Townshend throws up one of Keith Moon's cymbals into the air, which is really dangerous and then when it comes down it's almost going to hit Rodger Daltrey but it's like he knows and he starts sidestepping it, and then you see Pete jump over there at the last second and kind of deflect it out of the way. He then proceeds to destroy his guitar.
They came out during the British Invasion of music in the mid 1960’s. This performance is from the late 70’s. The “ Who” were made up of John Entwistle bassist , one of the best in contemporary music Keith Moon drums , inventive, talented and crazy Roger Daltrey lead vocals speak for themselves and Pete Townshend guitar
Seen them live at Anaheim Stadium, California in 1976 loudest concert i ever been at. They really jam in their songs for a long time. Never heard them having a "folk" element before, lol.
You need to listen to the studio album version. At the end, they use a violin instead of a harmonica. In the beginning they use a piano instead of the bass
They were incredible! Same concert, watch their masterpiece: Won't Get Fooled Again (in which Roger Daltrey gives maybe the best scream in R&R history.. And if you really want to hear what Roger can do, listen to the studio version of Love, Reign O'er Me. Meanwhile, Pete Townshend (guitarist) was the heart and soul of the band: wrote all the songs, as well.
They are English. Roger Daltrey is the lead singer in the striped shirt. Pete Townsend is the guitarist (one of the best), John Entwhisttle on bass (one of the best), and Keith Moon on drums (the best)
" PUT OUT THE FIRE..AND DON'T LOOK PAST MY SHOULDER".....ENJOY THE PASSION OF YOUTH ............BECAUSE IT GOES BY SO FAST.......YOU BRING ME BACK TO THE JOY OF MY YOUTH..DON'T RUSH TIME...THEY WHO WAS MY GENERATRION
Awesome reaction to this performance. Ya want energy, check out the song Young Man's Blues from the Isle of Wight 1970 concert. It's amazing. Unfortunately this was the last performance of drummer Keith Moon. He died a few months after this was recorded. Keep on rocking. 😊🎉❤
For an incredible study of the genre called "Rock Opera," you might enjoy working your way through their opera titled, "Tommy." It's correctly structured opera featuring a mind bending instrumental Overture, a storyline delivered via arias, and another instrumental "Underture." This was a landmark release in 1969, and the composition and execution is timeless! Thank you for another enjoyable reaction. 👌🌹😇
7:59 “They put out a really good show; I would pay to see that!” Yes, my dear, you and tens of millions of others. I was one of the lucky ones to gladly put my hard earned dollars down.
I enjoyed this a lot. Both the song and your reaction. However I wish you got hold of the longer version of this song because you're only seeing a small part of this performance. It actually gets wilder toward the end in the longer version. Anyway I'm glad that you reacted to a live version of The Who performing. I've been listening to their recordings since they came to the US shortly after The Beatles. They are known for their great songs, and wild live performances. One of their many albums was a rock opera called Tommy. It was made into a very entertaining movie that I watched several times. Tina Turner and Elton John were some of the characters. Baba O' Reily was used as a theme song in a well known television series called CSI New York. The Who are not just another good rock band. They are considered one of the greatest rock bands that came out of Great Britain. Anyway great reaction. I always get some interesting observations and some laughs watching your reactions.
Thanks for your reaction--the names : vocalist=Roger Daltrey (also actor), jumping guitarist=Pete Townshend, bassist=John Entwistle, drummer=Keith Moon (died in 1978--so the Who disbanded instead of replacing him). And yes, very energetic--Pete Townshend once said that if they didn't have fin in their shows, might be better to quit and work in a factory. He was right--and they had a lot of fun. Have a nice day. For an epic performance from them, see My generation, live Monterey 1967. They won a bet against Jimi Hendrix about who would destroy their guitar first, but Hendrix stole the show even if he did it last (for Hendrix, see Wild thing from the same Monterey show. Good to see both performances, to compare them and decide on who truly won the bet. Have a nice day & I'll watch what else you did on your channel.
They did not disband after Keith Moon died, they brought in drummer Kenny Jones...but of course he was nothing like Keith Moon was so the band was not the same.
This was a super popular song that has only had a much bigger following over the decades from when it first was released. I actually prefer quite a few other songs from this once in a lifetime album. You are going to want to react to Won’t Get Fooled Again, Behind Blue Eyes,My Wife, and especially Gettin’ In Tune! Brilliant songs! They are the kings of Rock!
If I can make a recommendation, look for the video for "House Of The Rising Sun" by The Animals. When you see the video, yes, the singer is amazing, but the thing you have to know.. that song was done in ONE TAKE! Walked into the studio, played it once, and walked out with perfection. No dubbing, no remix, no digital sound enhancement.
The singer is Sir Roger Daltrey knighted for his work raising money to support cancer treatment wards specifically for teenagers and he can still sing like this well into his 70s.
I love the Who but...Even Daltry tells the story about when he'd had enough of Keith " Either he goes or I do, "said Roger. "There's the door" replied Townsend. Daltry was mostly competent in a band the had high standards, you like what you like.
who got street cred, frm uk 60s -80s, vey also performed in usa 9/11 concert 2 thank v rescuers. best heard live, famous rockers, pete lead guitar wrote most of v songs. try 'my generation' frm v 60s, 'tommy' 'who r u', 'wont get fooled again', also early use of synth in ver music, had many hits
They didn't bet with Hendrix over who could destroy their gear first; Pete Townshend and Jimi Hendrix tossed a coin at the Monterey festival in 1967 because neither one wanted to follow the other on-stage. Pete won. John Entwistle also passed away, in 2002.
If you really want to witness The Who,then I suggest you should react to The Who Young Man's Blues Isle of Wight 1970 or The Who Water Isle of Wight 1970...

The WHO are the greatest rock band ever! The original lineup is incredible. I am so happy to see that this young lady got it.
Never a dull moment with The WHO! I saw them 5 times over the years. Starting in 1970
Roger Daltry is the singer and his mates are Pete Townshend on guitar. John Entwhistle, bass player second to none and the maniac on the drums, Keith Moon!! Terrific band my husband saw them years ago!!
Hi Susan ✨
I saw that tour., it was amazing!! Pete Townshend on guitar, Roger Daltry vocals, John Entwistle on bass and the animal, Keith Moon on drums. 😎☮️❤️

Oh yesssssss
My Boys from. Here I Merry old England
Love the video ❤
I saw them live in 1989 on their 25th anniversary tour and it was hands down the best concert I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of concerts.
Fabulous band and a great performance!! Loved your reaction!! 😊
Maybe the best band to come out Britian in that era and so many great bands did.
I still think Pink Floyd were the best. The Who a sturry second. The Quo third
THIS was fun, Blessing!
TheWho is yet another deep rabbit-hole for ya!!!
Try their other song from this same concert called “Won’t Get Fooled Again” (1978). You won’t believe it.

YOU HAVE A GREAT SMILE..THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME...I LOVE THE JOY ON YOUR FACE...IM A WHO FAN SINCE 1972!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your reactions are the best. I probably said it before, but you always get it.
Thanks again.
BTW, I had the pleasure of seeing The Who live twice.
Thanks Boatzilla and thanks for sharing your experience

Roger Daltrey : lead singer, harmonica
Pete Townshend : composer, lead guitar
John Entwistle : bassist
Keith Moon : Drums
Roger Daltry-lead singer, Pete. Townsend -guitar, John Entwistle- Bass guitar, Keith Moon- drums.
The Who is not a band... The Who is a miracle!

I saw them in 1971 with Wishbone Ash as opener. What a show, all for the price of a $2.00 lawn seat ticket. Jim
$2 oh wow was it a lot then?
Pete Townsend's energy starts at 11 and goes up from there.
Roger Daltry, singer and guitarist Pete Townsend are perhaps greatest two performers in a single band
Fantastic 👏👏✨✨

They did not disband they replaced Keith about a year or so later with Kenny Jones who had been a drummer with The Faces!
