- What kicks off someone's car fanaticism? It can be a moment during childhood - someone's car in the neighbourhood, a family member or a moment in motorsport. Maybe something from TV and film? There's always a car style, sound or smell that acts as a catalyst for this fascination we share.

God I love your channel Jonny
Here in north america it's all flash flash flash and noise noise noise to cover the lack of substance.
This is so real , I can smell the petrol fumes all the way to Canada
Yep just a humble fellow. No yelling, fast talking or boasting.
Exactly what I was thinking. Couple of car guys. Love it.
I’m glad so many people seem to be enjoying it, I have been surprised at all the positive comments given that I know I’m not the usual HI GUYS!!! typical UA-camr and have spent most of my life avoiding cameras. Jonny really is excellent at what he does and a 100% authentic car guy. It was a pleasure to meet him and be able to chat cars for literally the entire day
Welcome to what its like in the UK
A real car collection from a humble guy.. Not a museum or worse a bloke making his own museum. Nice one Johnny.
"or worse a bloke making his own museum" LOL ~ with you there... ;)
The variety makes the channel what it is 👍🏻
My thoughts exactly.
I love how Jonny says "ooh you've got the disease" with such glee...
It is something to be proud of IMO, I spend way too much time adding cars to my collection then look at my spend for the year and realise I've done OK because the ones that have been sold made a profit. That is what I tell myself as I seem to not include the money I spent on the car in its time with me 😉

Good man, humble and admits the things he knows and the things he doesn't. Well done on the collection 👊
One day all the E30 M3s will be hidden away in millionaire’s garages which makes a scruffy one used as family transport perhaps the coolest M3 on earth.
Personally I think the coolest car is the rare or dream car that actually gets used.

NICE!
This bloke must have a crystal ball…every car he has bought has went through the roof!
Well done sir.
Dad had one when I was early 20's. Dad and mum did Wales in it. Sadly, it was a rust box. However, it could go! When my brother became old enough to drive, after a couple of Chevettes , he got the two door version. He loved it until it rusted! Both Dad's and my brother's Suds were red! Great movie, as always.
I take my hat off to Harry, using them like they should be.
Life's too short not to enjoy them, people are surprised when I say I daily an RS4 but what's the point of it sitting on the drive !
1) I have immediate nostalgia for the 90s and 2) what a nice unassuming bloke.
And nice to watch it on a Saturday!
A real genuine nice guy with no heirs and graces about him, softly spoken and just a nice person !!! a bit like yourself mate.
"Hints of public transport" This guys a top bloke.
In a way, this is probably the best collection of cars I've ever seen. Every single one is one I'd love to own, work on and use all the time.
It's like a smaller more budget friendy version of Jay Leno's garage. Some of them are cool cars that ended up there.
Some were bought cheap simply because they were good, and are now worth a lot more.
What a lovely, genuine bloke.
“Hints of public transport” haha, gotta remember that one :)
Could you ask this guy if he could just do a recording of talking about cars . Such a calming voice, would help with my insomnia.
Not something I’ve ever thought about, but if enough people were interested I’m sure someone somewhere could make it happen 🤣
What a delightfully soft-spoken and humble chap; great find Jonny! More of these genuine car people and keep away from the PCP hoorays. 👍🏻
Loving the mechanical sympathy to get that E36 up to 270k miles, this guys a legend 💪 nice video 👍
So nice to see an E30 M3 that isn't clean, and all these cars that are genuine as opposed to garage queens
I can hear the neighbors saying “I’m so happy. He’s gone and bought another one”. Great stuff.
Thankfully they usually come around to have a nosey and a chat when he’s out there, we were surprised they didn’t pop round when filming
:-D
I used to stare at pictures of this guys Integrale and M3 like... 11 or 12 years ago? So cool to see his full collection.
I'd love to owen a itergraley thay were my dream car
Plus my dream coler was farare red
An incredible collection from an incredibly, humble bloke. Thoroughly enjoyed this.
Love it, it's down to people like Harry that we still get the odd glimpse of beautiful cars like these. Same reason why I choose to daily my Corrado VR6, I never see them anymore, people deserve to be reminded that they exist!
What a fantastic guy and an amazing story comes with all his cars and he drives them not worrying about putting miles on them very very cool
My dad had a new 1981 sud.We took it into Ford Carlisle about two years later. They offered him £1800 for it…i will never forget it my Dad who is a steady fella just walked out without saying a word and went to Vauxhall and they gave him £3500 towards a Cavalier.
Ive had 5 sprints a 145 clover and my GTV for 19 years.Fab cars.
You find them Jonny!
Excellent collection again.
Lots of East Anglian reg no's.
This fella is a legend, gotta watch these quietly spoken people coz this car collection is serious. ✌
Can always tell proper enthusiasts……. And they’re usually on this channel👍
My favourite of all the LBS videos (so far). So lovely to see a quiet, committed enthusiast like Harry who hasn’t spent out of a fortune. Really great. Now feel bad about not getting an e30 M3 for everyday use myself 20 years ago, though young daughters made it hard (had a caterham instead!)
jeremy clarkson said your not a petrol head until you own an alfa. this man has the daddy of a sud its amazing to see A its on the road and used B not a trailer queen. how can you not like the alfa sud there amazing cars wish i owned one. well done again keep up the good work this show should be on main stream tv instead of top gear.
What a lovely guy. My dad had Alfa's and he also worked for Ziebart, which was handy
I remember a similar Fiat like that from when I was a kid. A soldier and his wife resided in an apartment next to our house and apparently he brought it back from Europe when they were stationed there. Such a small car was a treat and an anomaly in huge car US back then.
Great petrol head. Gets stuck in, multiple cool cars and all with a family life 👌
This guy is a legend, love all his cars and we very much talk about that e30 all the time 🤣
E30 fans unite!
Couldn’t agree more, I love my e30 it goes in garage at winter I then I think about selling n getting a more modern car ,then it comes out in spring and look at just can’t I love it plus there value is appreciating every year
I'm 48 years old so all those cars are my era and what a lovely collection of cars they are thoughally enjoyed that half hour 👍👍👍
Loved the old photo of the 4 door Sud in Arancia Capua. I had a 1977 1.3ti in the same colour, which was my first Alfa.
The alfasud is fantastic. My 4 door alfasud was my first car, cost £250, loved it. Was red as well and sounded amazing 👍
Pationate humble guy. These videos are great, it's so nice to see and hear stories from real car people and presented in such a good way
A pure delight.
Thank you Johnny and Harry.
what a softly spoken nice guy with an excellent collection of lovely cars. I hope you get all the wonderful projects finished...... 👌👍
What a lovely collection! It’s incredible how nostalgic cars can be - remembering the past abs wonderful times as a kid in the 80’s! Best era for everything.
Bought an Alfasud for exact the same reason two years ago. Just lovely.
Wow, he has done what we all wish we had done and not trade our old cars when buying a new one, my hat is off to you sir, awesome….
Second time in two weeks I've felt compelled to comment on your channel!! I love these down to earth car collections with interesting back stories. A lot of us can relate to them. I still have my mother's (from new) 2007 CLK350 sport cab. which I thought had low miles at 50k and is in excellent condition (restored professionally through me).. A big thank you to "We buy any car" for ensuring I won't sell it!! I'll happily eat the £580 road tax per year thank you very much! (I seriously mean that, it's that good!)
I missed this episode when it went live. Great collection, I’m so jealous.
When you’re next in Australia look me up and I’ll buy you a beer or two as payment for putting together such an awesome series for all us car nuts to enjoy and drool over for free..
Late Brake show is 10 times more watchable than Fifth Gear
I've got a red Alfasud Super !! and the wifes got a red Mito ... lovely collection there
Awesome. Far cooler than a shiny supercar collection in my opinion.
Love it. All of it. and that you met him at your event and that he is now on your YT channel says a lot about you Jonny . great great Video
Many thanks Gert, appreciate that. This channel wouldn't be this channel without the support and enthusiasm of our viewers.
Driving an Alfasud for the first time was an epiphany. Second car I owned but the first car I fell in love with. My Pug 205 GTI and BMW 525i were great cars and better in so many ways but the Sud will always be my dearest memory.
Beautiful ‘Sud! It was a pea-green ‘Sud TI (also an earlier chrome bumper) which first fuelled my love of Alfa Romeo - one used to scream down our road twice a day, and I thought it sounded glorious. A later encounter with an Alfa GTV6 when I was 11 got me fully hooked. I’m on my 3rd Alfa now, having had all sorts of German and Swedish cars over the years - the Alfas are still my favourites.
How cool is the traffic light air freshener 😎😍
Mightnt be interesting to anybody, but my dad grew up in ford's (owing several old fiesta's). He borrowed his friends rotten Sud when one of the Fezz' were out of action and to this day he claims the Alfa is the best handling car he has EVER driven.
Under a minute in and already love the collection. Cheers for showing us.
What a fantastic collection. I remember my dad having those traffic light air fresheners that used to make me feel travel sick as a child.
Having no garage to work in I feel your pain working outside. As someone who shops at the bottom of the market myself I think I'd struggle to maintain such a vast collection of cars. The majority of these are really my era.
My son wants a MiTo for his first car.
Overhauled one of them alfa boxer engines about 20yrs ago
Love the Suds, my first car was a 1980 rust coloured Ti 1.5, I then had loads of sprints as they were so nice to drive.
Wow, The Alfasud 5m just like that was my first car! My dad sold it to me with no MOT and it needed a LOT of work to get it back on the road but even as an 1100 it was way better than the Ford's all my friends had.
great video and like how he use the cars. love the red m3
What a cool chap! Awesome collection and a very personable bloke!
thank you for reminding us that the alfa sub is 50!!! Amazing ... I had a red 4 door in Cornwall, but I can't imagine anyone was able to rescue it! Brilliant to see it on your channel .. hope you get to drive it next time...
We ran out of time and light, and were all frozen through by the end of the day. Jonny is more than welcome to take it for a drive any time, either just for fun or if he can fit it into a video somehow.
my italian ears are bleeding after 32 minutes of "alfasad", still love this show though and the passion behind this collection!
Not Sad, SUD. We say it like 'sood'!
@@TheLateBrakeShow Made my day answering! I really love the Sud, especially since it was the first big job my grandfather landed as a young engineer at Alfa Romeo back in the late sixties and he told me many anecdotes about it, such as the story behind those weird trunk hinges.
Cheers from Milan to the LBS and S&S Podcast!
GREAT episode, wish I had a neighbor who has a range of project Alfa's and BMWs. Johnny must have prayed to weather Gods for this one.
Interesting variety. As a Mercedes-Benz C350 owner my favorite in this collection is the CLK 350, which I have driven. It is very well maintained for its age--and in a classic version of M-B silver arrow paint, which my C230 Kompressor had.
I love these humble/real world collection just as much as these guys with 15 Porsches or other exotica.
Most of all I love the expression of British car enthusiasts this channel brings, always something different and always brilliant and compelling to watch.
Great little Sud. Chased many around race tracks and so wish i had one now.
What a great collection unrestored and used classics
That’s some serious usage on the E36 M3. Good lad.
Great video. Harry seems like such a humble, soft spoken gent. Absolutely LOVE the cups of tea. Thank you Jonny for keeping it British lol
Was absolutely freezing that day,
Had to keep providing cuppas to keep them warm…. Hence I wasn’t naked at bedroom window 😂 was looking to see if the needed another round, rather than open up the door and risk being on camera 🤦🏼♀️
Little shots of the Sud took me straight back (in a flashback way!) to my early driving days when they were common. Who knew steel wheels could look so good. Still remember the sound of them at full tilt to this day, was hoping you'd get a drive in it.
This chap is doing things right, his other half has no worries if she can't see him look under a car.
Most of us have either no storage or no money.
Keeps him out of trouble and every so often he appears for a cup of tea 😂
Loved my Alfasud...
I had a Alfasud of 1979 identical to this one, but white, fantastic (not for the rust...) unique in handling for the time.
The Alfasud are a great car, looks great, great dimensions, great boxer engine, almost great every thing ! The Alfasud, 850 and the 127 are icons that will be cool as new EV followers to the 500 ! So go on Stellantis !
One of the most interesting and truly great car collections I've seen on YT. So good that the owner just drives the BMWs and racks up the miles
It’s great to see a fellow E36 guy. at the moment i could only afford to run an E36 318i (M43) but in the future I definitely love to get an M3.
Harry’s got a proper 90’s studded belt on too. A man after Jonny’s heart even before the cars.
Blink 182 / Limp Bizkit spec. I dig.
I've had two Alfa Sud's, one TI cloverleaf and the other was an A reg 1.5 SC 95bhp.
I actually preferred the 1.5 SC over the TI as it had a longer gear ratio and a smoother overall drive, while being just as quick.
To this day it's still my favourite ice car.
Just cleaned and polished my two Alfa's 75 and 33 had cars since 1990 great channel big thumbs up for channel 🤗
Many thanks Jack - great to hear your Alfas are getting the worship they deserve.
@@TheLateBrakeShow thanks they kept in heated garage restored cars eight years ago both in Alfa red
One of my favourite episodes you have done of this nature... this guy has done what us petrol heads should have done in the past. Fair play to him. Every day I regret flogging my toys I had 10-15 years ago... Porsche 944 S2, Jag XJ6 4.2 Sovereign (83), BMW 1602, I won't go.on as I can see what i am typing through the tears.... unfortunately wives kids and property have become those cars and I haven't had a toy for 5 years. This spring, that needs sorting. Anyway enough therapy, fantastic, brilliant, great cars and such a good guy. Top job. 👍
Brilliant collection,the E36 and E30 M3 combo is perfect.
What a totally lovely man
4 grand for an E30 M3. Damn that's crazy.
I'd love an E30. One of the coolest cars ever built.
Also used to own an AR Mito 135 multiair (also bought off my mum) and now have a BMW compact (325ti). Cool, quirky cars!
You obviously have superb taste in cars. Would have loved a 323ti but sadly weren’t ever sold here.
Great video, immediately knew who this was when I saw the metro and M3 cannot believe it's been 15 years since you bought this much to the pleasure of the Evo forum. Good on ya fella
Actually I've had a brainwave (maybe seizure) we need a car pervert forum after the closure of EVO
Great show. I grew up in a street when someone owned an Alfa 6. Red similar to the stunning car. What he did was unfortunately I hate to say familiar thing to see in the 70's. Take out a paint brush and hand paint it black. So it's really nice to see one looking like this. I'm not sure if I'd say no to any of his collection lol. The Metro reminds me of my mum and how she had 3 of them lol never a GTi model. The last being a 5 door yellow beloved car. I once borrowed it for work I'd just got a brand new Saxo VTR went out to work and the accelerator was going to the floor. Turned out a coil pack failed. I borrowed the Metro trying to make up time hammering the small Metro on the motorway I then notice the Police!! I hear the engine roaring away lol and I think sh!t look down at the speedo and I was doing 60 lol.
Love his collection very personal , very private.
Thank you again Jonny
Kind regards
Paul
Love it , nice collection there , my brother had the same colour SUD , but it fell to pieces we often used rope and twine to keep the door hinges on and the bonnet used to come adrift ! fond memories !
Eek!
Top man. Similar mindset to myself. Hate to see cars hidden away. They are there to be driven and used. Fellow Integrale Evo 1 daily driver here! Much better behaved car once used rather than sat. Goes for most cars really.
Awesome collection of cars, he bought well, thanks Jonny for the tour, Rj in Oz, 4am
4am? Full commitment mate. Thank you.
I read Alfa Romeo and I jump into the video!
Cheers Jonny and Harry, loved the collection. A real treat to see the Sud, brought back some happy and probably illegal memories.
Super show Jonny. What a great mix of cars. The BMW six cylinder engine is so smooth. A mate of mine has and old one. He bought a new Beemer some years back and gave it back to the dealer, as he just couldn’t get on with all the new technology and just loves it.
I note the Autobot and Decepticon badges on the Lancia and Beemer 👍
Johnny I owned a 1991 E30 M3 in 1993 , still say to this day it was one of the best cars I ever owned to this day , it was a great car , And unlike the Cosworth I swapped it away for was totally reliable. 🙈… should’ve listened to my dad. 😂
My first 'proper' drive at the age if sixteen was an Alfasud, I've never forgotten it.
Another great feature, fair play to Harry for a super cool collection of cars!!
Brilliant, and a decent dood showing us around his collection. Was very enthused that my 69 plate M …. might go onto two hundred odd thousand miles like his. (Bought it from new and is mainly driven like Mary Poppins, so certainly possible 😀). Great and interesting video 👍.
4:28 that ain’t no Alfa boxer, another great video love the Alfa.
Nice collection! Great to hear the reasoning behind each purchase.
I do love an Alfasud, Jonny! My Uncle's best friend has had loads of them... his last one was a Cloverleaf 1.5 Ti 3dr which he fitted new genuine front panel, wings, sills, rear quarters, rear panel, doors, bonnet & boot... 4 times over the 10 years he had it! He owns a car bodyshop! He now has a GTV. A true glutton for punishment!! Cheers. Leigh. PS: It needed wd40 every morning in the distributor cap to start it from when it was 1 year old!!!
I distinctly remember a can of orange spray paint, which my dad had used to touch up rust patches on the sud in the photo in the film, hanging around in the garage for many years. I’ve had so many people tell me they’re amazed to see one left on the road.
It’s a shame the rust issues have overshadowed how fun they are to drive and some or the fantastic engineering.
@@harroldino1980 They were brilliant cars!
