Brilliant........ My Mum lived at the Moss farm... Moved out in 1965 when she got Married..... My Grandpa moved out in 1965 too..... Sad to see it in the state it is now.... Should be developed into a Machrie moor visitor centre........
Thank you! I still haven't found out when it was finally abandoned. Perhaps your relatives were the last ones to live there? I have some older photos of it going back to 2014 & the roof was still on it then. The local museum sent me a picture of a painting of the farm from 1911!
@@shiskinegreenkeeper2782I just added a community post with a picture of the painting of the farm in 1911. The Arran Museum sent it to me. I think they have the original painting there.
I just found your lovely channel. One of my nephews and I went to Scotland in November 2019 and it was a Paradise to me. We're going to Ireland in December. I would love to semi-retire in Scotland. My DNA is 79% from the British Isles and 20% Scandinavian, so I feel at home there. You have a beautiful voice.
Thank you. Ireland is fabulous too. A few years ago I spent some time in Connemara where my dad's family came from. I am planning to go back to make a video at some point.
Thank you :). Yes the properties there have always been expensive as it's easy to get to from Glasgow & Ayrshire. The cheaper islands are the less accessible ones such as the smaller Orkney & Shetland islands.
Best time of year for Machrie is (in my experience) March or October / November, especially if it is dry. It is usually lovely if it has been dry for a spell. 2024 has been super wet here as elsewhere. It is a moor, as the label says, so stay on firm paths if it is soggy. You were a bit unlucky. Midgies are not normally a problem, but this year's wet clearly suited them. Summer is often glorious, but the grass is high, which is why March/October is good. Nice video, btw!
I have a question for you about the stone circles: Can they be seen from the sea? In other words if they were constructed for the benefit of the mariners, could the passers by see the stones while they were in the sea?
very nice overview, Good balance between detail and the wide landscape vistas.
Thank you :)
Amazing
Thank you :)
Another lovely and informative video. Thankyou so much.

Great video. I spent a week on the Isle of Arran at the end of August. Definitely going back.
It's a fabulous island. I always have reasons to go back! I've been 3 times in the last 10 years.

Great video. We loved seeing Arran again. Such a beautiful place to visit
Great vid. I love Arran. I'm currently on Rightmove looking at properties on Arran. The prices are steep. I think bank robbery is my only option.

I don't think they can. I couldn't see them from the coastal road or the car park. They are inland about 2km from the coast.
good job. the background music sounds very much like a familiar Christian hymn ,,leaning leaning on Jesus arm,,,,
Thank you. I didn't know that about the music. The choice is quite limited with the music library in UA-cam.
