We honestly have NO IDEA why we have heard so much about the Shetland and Herbrides but not Orkney before we came here. This place is RICH in history, beauty, and we just love it here. What do you think? Would you visit Orkney?
Visited in 2014. Was absolutely blown away with the amount of history to be seen. I still recommend it, to this day. Was definitely the highlight of our trip which covered the UK from top to bottom and into Wales.
The Shetland Islands are very much as incredible! Love the history. The lovely communities and pleasantness of the people. Hope you can go there too. Thank you. I would love to see Orkney.
Defiintely great that you had pretty benign weather but wish youd experienced some of our amazing storms. The sea and the coastline is so full of energy in a storm. Amazing!
Love the videos , remember to always look into the history of the tartan that you wear, you wore Gov / Argyle tartan which is a very complicated and a still hated Tartan especially in the Highlands. Just a wee tip xx
Great videos. It’s a been a breath of fresh air watching a couple who genuinely love the places they visit. Could see you moving to Scotland after watching your other videos. Keep the videos coming your showing me places that I would never have thought to go. Thanks
Loved Orkney when we visited last June. As you said it has a flavour of its own. The people are fabulous. The history is awesome. We are returning next year. ❤
You are an amazing film maker and story teller. I hope you get discovered, i know I’ve said this before but you guys so deserve to have your videos go viral. I followed you originally for vanlife but the way you present your travel adventures is so impressive. You should be so proud of your creativity. Love you guys 🇦🇺
Been following your videos for a little while and enjoying watching you both connect in such a deep way with Scotland and the Orkneys too. Your love and fascination with both the history, the culture and the people is very heart warming and your growing love and connection with all of the above is beautiful to see.
Regarding your wondering about the sheep: do they just graze here? I wonder if the situation in Newfoundland, Canada might be similar (they do share Gaelic roots). There's a path in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland called Green Gardens and a local farmer brings his sheep by boat every spring over to the grazing land at the end of that hiking trail. They leave them for the season and pick them back up again in the fall. I guess they've been doing this for generations. Sounds similar to what you've seen in Orkney to me.
We (me and my wife) have been to Orkney and seen most of the places you have shown on this video plus a few other sites, and I'd say this is one of the BEST videos I have seen about Orkney. The Tourist Board should commission you! Wife has just suggested another visit there....
Ahhh thank you ❤ it’s really lovely seeing Orkney through the eyes of visitors…. Yours is the best I’ve seen. Marita who was your cathedral tour is one of the best guides, she’s fantastic.
I worked on an archaeological excavation, a few years back. It is an amazing place, and I want to come back and explore it more. Most Scots have Norse ancestry to some degree, so if you have Scottish ancestry, you'll have Norse ancestry.
Hello Crystal & Brian great to see you thoroughly enjoying Scotland & its islands as Orkney is fascinating, so much incredible history so spiritual!! Breathing in pure oxygen in the wilderness of Yesnaby breathtaking, so many places to see! I would think it would be romantic place to be guys? Excellent Vlog & I’m green with envy 😆 Take care & enjoy!! ❤️🇦🇺🐨🦘
I can trace my ancestors (Muir & Pirie) back to the Orkneys, Some are buried at St Magnus Cathedral. Very interesting video thank you for sharing . LG Canada
Loved seeing Orkney. Like both of you my ancestry is Scottish Scandinavia. I’m very interested in the landscape. Bought the youswim suit. Very happy with it. Have you housesit before? What a great way to stay in a country you like for a more long term situation.
Very much enjoying your videos, thank you, all the very best, health and happiness. If I come into money I am moving back here, my homeland for sure, Hoy Haey, Old Norse.

Local of Orkney Here
You should visit The Faroe Islands, Common Wealth of Denmark 🇩🇰
Our Campbell clan came from Kirkwall
You can also get excellent meat in the Orkney Isles.
A quick note Brough, as in brough of Birsay, is pronounced with a hard ending, a bit like Broch, which can be very confusing!
itseems you found a place where yourheart is at home Crystal
Girl, I wouldn't be touching no huge stone in Scotland! 😂😂😂😂 JUST in case!!!!
Hello
Youe "daily life" on Orkney makes it sound like you live here. And it's just a visit?
That’s correct. Our daily life while house sitting for 3 weeks.
