As bad as who says? Haven't seen anybody say it is.
clicks
@@andreaslelfurbes9923 Yeah i clicked. Got tricked.
games not even officially out yet lmfao
Suckers
Agreed. This guy is a click-baiting moron. There are far better (genuine) content creators covering Manor Lords.
This game is essentially what stronghold should have become.
Exactly, Stronghold 2 was so so close.
Was it? I feel like stronghold combat is just absolute massed garbage but I can’t remember stronghold 2
@@pervnav14 stronghold 2 was a step above for sure, the combat wasn’t exactly fleshed out super well, but when I was 14 that shit was cooking.
I’ll look it up!
was legit thinking such
The fact that the recruitement comes from your population makes me love this even more
stronghold series bro - check it out
I wish Bannerlord had a population recruitment system.
I would take out 3 armies all the lords of a kingdom. Then seige a town. Just for another army to show up.
You could never get ahead of the AI in manpower.
I've had wars where the AI has 13000 losses with my kingdom having 3000. They'll still have endless armies.
@@MuffHamIn Bannerlord, start being a vassal or atleast help other countries to gain their trust, never imprison enemy lords aswell, it will significantly affect your standing on them. Buy workshops and invest more on Caravans than making your companions combatants, maybe keep 2, you can make them lords afterwards, pretty loyal too. I Just conquered the Vlandians and Sturgians by Poaching their lords, lol.
Songs of Syx does it best, while not as graphically pleasing, it definitely surpasses Manor Lords.
Are people already shitting on a game that was 10/10 by everyone pretty much ?
Are you really surprised tho? These days people will hate on something even if they don't mean it just to generate notoriety.
It's popular. People from outside the genre (mostly FPS cucks) will shit on any game that gets popular that they don't like the look of. That's just the reality of the industry, sadly.
Game looks like dog shit what do you mean….. jk I’m pumped for this to come out
Yes, even before it’s out…
resonant always does this, which is why i avoid his content. but i'm very interested in manorlords, so i made an exception. big mistake. half of the things he complains about are the result of his own lack of understanding the game mechanics.
So with the mercs what i think hapenned is that everyone shares the same pool of mercs. So when you went to war he hired all the mercs before you did.
wich can of make sense i thinks, the thing to me is that you should be able to recruit them before going to war
@@unpretencioso3427 You can recruit mercs before you go to war, you can recruit them anytime actually. However, they have a significant monthly upkeep that discourages all but the richest settlements to constantly maintain mercenaries when not actively fighting.
Hopefully in the future you could outbid the merc hirers.
Remember that large stone castles and cavalry are in development. The late game with, for example, the effect of regional war, sieges, raids on enemy villages will be epic
Sieges got me hyped
can u physically control ur army or a character
Wait, dev didnt say thats its not gonna be a total war like game with a lot of combat before game premiere on steam? We propably never gonna see true armies, soldiers etc here, just militia and mercenaries spam... But if im wrong then cool, i wish this game have much more combat. But atleast theres bellwright where u can even control u character and fight too. Still true strategy game like that would be cool.
@@SuiSideex not total war at all. You wont conquer whole europe. Its city builder with great combat mechanic, but in much smaller scale
1-They should add cavalry
2-you should be able to pilage the dead enemies for weapon and armor
I love these ideas :))
@@meeeptheconqueror6759 Pretty sure cavalry was confirmed? Im not sure though but would make a ton of sense as theres already stables for the ox.
@@CarBojar There were teasers but the mechanics needs more polishing
2 - fantastic idea, makes conflicts even more meaningful for a small / rather poor settlement as a way to upgrade or enlarge it's current army more easily while not compromising on immersion since irl armies would do the same thing
Cavalry will be added later, has been a teaser
I wouldn't say that them being combined is one of the biggest selling points. From the beginning the creator never promised the battles to be perfect, infact he said that there would be a lot lacking from it.
It's a fantastic City Builder with clean RTS elements.
That's how it should be judged.
Unfortunately I think it'll receive undue criticism from TW fans that want this to be the Med 3 they were denied and also people that want super complex city building systems from an early access game. But what can you do except wait for them to go away lol
@@LordOfWar_sosstill pathethic tbh because CA couldnt deliver what they wanted, also they couldnt care less about city building 😂 only the battles are interested that why when slavic shows a synce battle they started jump wagon that this is a Total War killer lol
90% of "battles" during this time were between small armies or groups of people. Not every battle was between thousands and thousands of people.
This is true for every era....
However if you are talking about major battles you are a little to late. This game is set between 1000-1500 major battles did have 1000s of soldiers.
I dont really care how many troops are in this game tbh but i do hope they improve the battles mechanic wise...alot.
The big battles were on a kingdom or barony scale though, this is far smaller regionally so it makes sense for it to be skirmishes.
Some of the biggest wars in history took place in this game's time period with most battles taking place within those wars, what are you talking about?
@@DsgSleazy Yeah, but these were battles between KINGDOMS, not villages with 200ppl and bandits. What are you talking about?
Either way It vindicates me in a previous discussion I had with someone where they said this game would kill total war and my stance was yeah right you haven't played it yet...Battles look fine considering the city building is amazing.
PLEASE REMEMBER!!!!
this game is Early Access!!! This means that alot of the questions that you have regarding content can be answered as, "Yes, we've considered it. Yes, its probably coming."
10:50 @Resonant you do know you can increase your retinue, right? You only have 5 but you have alot of money - click on the retinue - click on the paint brush - buy more troops to your retinue and buy them heavy armor...
retinue can grow up to 30ish people i think - you have to buy them in the customization window.
upgrade armor and will the look change in the game?
Yes@@ramentamago4094
@@ramentamago4094 yes
There was a game that's like this from back in the early 2000s, where your villagers can be dynamically turned into fighters during raids. It's called Cultures: Northlands.
turned 3min video in 15
need that revenue
Welcome to UA-cam.
"The truth about battles in manor lords" proceeds to show sod all battles and sod all detail but drags out fluff for 15 minutes for the youtube algorythm. Just another "creator" padding out their videos.
This guy's been doing these style of videos for a long time now, and he provides the information that his audience is looking for. If it wasn't for you that's great. I found it to be informative and pleasant, but then again I've been watching him for game info for years. To each their own bud.
City builders generally don't have great rts battles. Even if they are meh compared to dedicated battle simulators, they're could potentially be best in class for the city building genre, which would still be impressive
hope after launch they will expand the game greatly giving endgame buildings and army building
or at least let modders do their thing
Its actually just a he, there is only one guy behind Manor Lords, extremely impressive what he has achieved.
Well yeah that’s the plan
let modders do their magic
cavalry is confirmed... as well as enemy towns (not currently in the game) and i think sieges are also planned (mostly against town keeps/manors) but im not 100% sure of this.
Looks awesome, cant wait to try it out.
I'd like to see some additional mechanics for the 'bandits stealing stuff.' Hire a bailiff to patrol the town and if you catch them, you have to decide what to do with the bandit. Right now it's just some sort of abstract system where they just deduct resources from you through telepathy.
If Slavic Magic is starting a rival project against Total War, they will blow them out of the market forever. Slavic Magic did the battle mechanics as a side perk to the game.
I hate Total War, they treat their fans like trash. Been waiting for another company to pick up their slack.
The game is just a city builder with combat. The dev is not aiming to competing the total war, and the scope of the game to too small anyway.
Well, I'm sure that was just a "bug" but that grief stricken person cluelessly shoveling away towards the end was more real than necessary...not sure why, but this game has serious KC:D vibes. Imagine you have to draft Henry the Blacksmith and he will die in battle, just like that.
Omg I love this game, please someone tell the developers to have a feast and celebrate because they did a awesome job, and I want to see this game in 5 years, it's going to be so good
Solo developer (for the most part)
Earlier today I was on the ML Discord asking about future planned content, there's going to be a roadmap released with the launch of early access.
There's apparently lots coming, and castles are included.
I don't really understand how so many players are blinkered to the lack of mid/late game content. There just doesn't seem to be all that much 'game play' here.
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to get my hands on it, and to see where the development goes. But it's NOT a 10/10 wonder game, by any stretch, people need to chill out.
13:50 - Black and White 2 did this back in 2004. A City/God Builder, with a militia which was harvested from non-discipled villagers, and deploy them into the battle all in real-time. Plus you had a huge creature you could train to fight and use spells, and bring it into battle support your troops.
yeah but in black and white 2 the creature was strong enough to basically handle everything itself... you never really needed an army between your god powers and your creature.
@@arcanumelite4853 True, but the army was a good thing to have to bottleneck any invading forces, while your creature was busy with other tasks. Plus, the army was able to capture settlements. God, I miss that game!
They need to show villagers cleaning up the battle mess in their home turf as a feature. It would be immersive to see that!
Creative Assembly have just left a lot of people really wanting a Total War competitor, so a lot of people saw how similar the battles looked and their expectations went wild.
When did "Stronghold" and "Mount & Blade" have a baby? 👶
i hope he gives access to modders to make the game even better so everyone gonna be interested in it.
Like total war Workshop steam
Would be cool if your character that you are playing and created can choose to physically command your army at the risk of death and game over…. But your troops would get a morale boost
And then you fight with your army like in mount & blade...
10:45 I know this is late but there is something to note. The men you are fighting ARE the mercenaries. The enemy lord hired all of them before you could. Always hire them before you march to war
thanks for the vid bro, excited for this game!
The question i have is can we have a standing army like professional army, they have training and formations and they just march around my towns?
Anyone remembers saga rage of vikings, I wish the population system was like that in this game
I've seen people compare this game to the Stronghold series and the Total War series because gameplay and graphics appear to draw from both but what if its also taking elements of Caesar 3? It was primarily a city builder but you could have military units which were also capped at about 6. Any thoughts on that?
I think the closest match is the settlers 3-4 and knights and merchants.
When i think of a game like Caesar 3 which I loved, I think of farthest frontier. Large scale city building with very simple combat mechanics
Yeah I was thinking of Pharoah and Zeus from the same series.
How are you getting this far? My demo version won't let me save and doesn't include the option for battles. Do you have access to the game already?
It is not the demo. Some youtubers has anticipated access.
Now I want the game even more 😔 How straining is it for your pc, especially when you get a bigger village and more troops? I'm afraid my current potato won't cut it and i'll need a better potato for this.
I remember back in the day when you just did bannerlord content. You cover a great niche in up coming games. I have rolled my eyes at this manorlord game for a while as just another game that promised everything but would never actually release. This video really shows how wrong I am about that. Your videos are great and I hope to see more manorlords.
the rts battles are just an added bonus for me. I love the city builder aspect of this game, even just the bit I was able to try in the demo.
Imagine a skirmish mode using those maps where two massive armies clash, that would be insane.
From what I've seen the balance between city building and battle is very good. The developers have really thought this through. Can't wait to play it in less than two weeks.
can i actually fight in battles in fiest and or 3rd person like bannerlord?
based on videos i have seen, the core focus of the game is about city building , the combat is added bonus and its a very tiny part of it .
thats said, it makes perfect sense with this type of the game as your army is basically composed of your villages, so in theory you cannot have big battles with thousands of troops and strongholds .. maybe this will be like a fututre dlc where you make your town into a big city
And it depends how much you own the land to form the kingdom
I don't care that much about the battles. I really enjoy th elook of the city building; what intrigues me more is the management between workers and soldiers. But the actual tactics and largescale battles? theres better alternatives
hows the optimization?
that bandit stealing things notification appear out of blue, n i dont see any bandits coming in or running away... and my spearman standing right there at the granary, so how?
When do you unlock the guy with the time traveling car?..
"Castle DLC" - Build your castle, secure important trade routes, tax ships passing the river your castle overloos - And fight of siege weapons...
Yeah, there is a lot of potential for the game. Looking forward to play it.
I would like to actually see the armour and weapon customisation options for your troops
14:03 songs of syx does this feature with the, I assign nobility based on kills in battles
Can you loot weapons from fallen enemies?
What year is this game supposed to be set on?
I think your coverage of this game is some of your best content. You should check out Norland, coming only like 3 weeks after this one. Same concept but a little bit more RImworld. You should expand to more games like this because your coverage is great.
in a close up shot i noticed archers draw their bows properly (i'm not an expert but i've never seen bows drawn in games like i saw in this footage) everyone tells me to lower my expectations because its an indie developer but everything i see or read blows my little head off!
It would be a dope feature to be able to split one unit into multiple. That would give greater strategic opportunities
I think the reason why you couldnt get any mercs is another Lord already hired them but I could be wrong I also believe that the more big towers that you build the more troops you can have
Song of Syx does that where your citizens are both your soldiers and workers.
The dev put out a statement about what this game is and isn’t. It’s a city builder primarily. It’s not a battle simulator.
If i let a bandit camp go for too long do they grow or fortify?
the bandit camps do grow in strength and become stronger... ive seen a bandit camp with like 30 people in it in one of the videos... which is up from the usual 16 because they were left alone for too long...
as well there will eventually be enemy towns (as of right now the enemy armies come from off the map because he doesn't have enemy towns implemented yet)
Looks awesome. Rimworld is another game where your villagers turn into the fighters, and you have to bury your dead and dispose of the enemy bodies or the villagers will be unhappy.
See when I try this... Hold with Archers in the front and keep spearmen and Retinue and other units held back... The opposing army just rushes me. Not meander about at the bottom of the hill like fish in a barrel. They just fly straight at me and, even though we have equal numbers and I was well reseted, my units break and run. Crappy battles for me.
Now remember this is still early access ALOT could change so this isnt the final product even so the game is still a 10/10 for me
How have you got hold of it when you're not a content creator?
it release on 26 April, are you telling me that they can change ALOT in 12 days?
@@modernhiendaino he isn’t. The game will release into EA. Development will continue for years.
I think 1 of the mistakes that you made was trying to recruit mercenaries after you declared war, always recruit BEFORE declaring war otherwise the enemies will grab the mercenaries.
Once a villagers has been armed does he retain his name? I.e. can you read individual characters names while mustered? Ok I am assuming each characters has a name?
yes and yes... your own personal retinue also has individual customization of every soldier (these are your personal soldiers) the townspeople will just take whatever is in storage like plate armor and gambesons ect but they keep their names and if they die they are gone from the town for good.
Quite a few games that use your villagers as militia without loading screens. Rimworld, dwarf fortress, the original settlers series, cultures series, and pretty much most of todays colony sims. Game looks great. Ill be watching it.
I really am excited for this game!
Manner lords or bannerlord?? Which should i buy??
This is not no mans sky hype at this point. This is real. Slavic Magic has created something that pushes the boundaries of this type of game to a level that hopefully will spark a new ambition for the genre. The people have been heard and I hope we can just improve from this point forward. I hope the wishlist matches the sales. If it does, then I think we can be more hopeful for the future of gaming.
is there any games like this (base building and strategy combat) available anywhere?
Hmm kenshi ? Not a traditional city builder but it is pretty core part of the game
I say, this game, even before its release, has a ton of potential for development. They can make this into an entire Kingdom maker in which you'll have castles, seige weapons, and more although they should not be too overboard for it as to keep the game balanced. They could also add a lot more aspects to it such as trade and trasport via bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, and hell the oceans. I want to see more of these in the coming future after the initial release happened.
Some more ideas are as follows:
-Different cultures that could develop per region
-Different religions that could influence each region.
-Disasters?
-Gun powder :> (muskets or any earlier version of guns)
Thank you for this video. Interesting to learn about the fighting. Can anyone tell me if the game can be played in a peaceful mode?
Can you pick up arms and armour from the battlefield? A reliable source of weapons in Dawn of Man are raiders.
raising a militia should have the ability to have a drilling grounds where they can practice and gain experience
I feel like I just spent 16 hours playing this game and I don't even have it yet.
Cant you make walls or other defencive stuff?
Looks cool but I still prefer leading my own troops myself on the battlefield in bannerlord. I never was a huge fan of the total war games. If I wanted to play an RTS I would just go play StarCraft 2, and if I wanted to play a city builder I would just play cities skylines.
You never seen a game that turn your villagers into militia? How about Songs of Syx?
The battles are kinda weird. There’s no actual king killing animation. They just stand around and their numbers go down sometimes, and don’t even get me started on archers.
make sure your army is in the battlefield and not just one unit, if they kill the one unit you lose the region even if you have more on there way
Amazing..
I think this game is a really good look at how the Middle Ages were! When most people were subsistent farmers or artisans, wars were expensive and every casualty was costly!
The Lords armies are always stronger than my militia. And most of the time I find I can't hire mercenaries before a big fight.
I really hope this is adjusted in later patches.
Does anyone know anything about defensive structures? Towers, gates, ramparts, siege equipment and so on?
Could add more developers once they start selling copies. Castle building is supposed to be coming.
So where's the Manor Lord in Manor Lords during the fight? He should be in there duking it out with hero abilities like warcry and leadership aura
Hello sir, can I introduce to Black and White 2? There u can create a city and raise an army, obviously is not like Manor Lords but still in my heart
Is multiplayer present?
What is the Road map for Manor lords? I dont see any road map n their Steam page…
Because the game isn’t out yet. The roadmap will come with the release.
@RESONANT actually, Black and White 2 used a similar system where your soldiers are your men in your town! You can keep making armies, and losing them but eventually you will not have any more men to increase your population!
Can the armies reach Total war sizes of like 1k vs 1k? Or will it always be small like Bannerlord with 500max provided no mods are used?
Highly unlikely to reach such high numbers. Realistically, 200-300 per side seems like where it tops off at right now. Maybe with updates to the mannor system and stuff that let’s you grow your regions much more, you’d be able to get larger groups
i think it entirely depends on just how many people you can shove into your town, how many arms you can produce and how many mercs you can buy. but in general the scale will prolly be pretty small given units seem to average out at 30 men per.
The max I've seen is 600. However, it wouldn't be surprised if it reach at least 800 max as Manor Lord development further. They are still stuff missing within this build that was shown from the trailers
@@apossiblyhereticalalphaleg3595 disappointing ultimately. Feel like if sizes will only reach a couple hundred the game will become way too repetitive quickly and get boring.
@@Underground3 1k battles would be perfect and perhaps the addition of town/city walls to the game for perhaps defensive attributes and sieges or maybe even castles/fortresses/moats/river diversions/etc to solidify conquered regions.
It's like a modern day Black and White just without the magic and god
For really big battles you'll want to check out Kingmakers
With such positive reviews, imagine what this game will be like in 1-2 years.
Do citizens have names/skills?
So is it all infantry battles? Are there no mounted knights or cavalry in this game? Not that it's a deal breaker or anything.
Is there cavalry in the game? It's very strange not to see cavalry in a medieval game
Cavalry was quite rare as horses were extremely expensive. That's why it was usually only the lords or bannermen that could fight on horse, whereas the peasants were mostly infantry.
cavalry is planned for later... but cav will be extremely expensive and more of an endgame unit type its also unfinished as of right now.
Any news on Cavalry?
glad this game is finally coming out this channel has been glazing it for years now.
I haven’t played the game yet, but it seems finally we have a game that touch on the rear side of war. Few strategy games treat weapon and unit production as separate matters - as it is in real life - but fewer portray weapon production as more than just clicking and buying. HOI4 is the only one that I can think of, but even then its weapon production feature is simplistic. Beyond it, most RTS would have you build the whole unit in one package.
Doing it this way allows for in-depth gameplay of the resource and management side. In fact, the game is well set-up for it, being a city builder which features an intricate product progression tree. Perhaps it’s the point after all? People wonders why it features such an extensive battle gameplay for a city builder. I say this is actually a war game - it just focus on the normally untouched part of war.
This game can go far. I have yet to see a logistic feature. I don’t know if arrows is treated as a resource or not. Even without them, I suppose the modding community would have it resolved in the future. Afterwards, it would be the perfect strategy game.
awesome, i would love if mercenaries also have solo or group mercenary or bounty hunter who doing some order like catching murderer, guard envoy, etc like rpg game and get paid. Maybe this too wild LOL
Looks really impressive. I only miss friendly fire and cavalry to run down those damn archers!. And no infinite ammo so a arrow maker would be needed for ammo like different arrow types and bolts.
there is friendly fire... but you have to turn it on for you archers otherwise they simply wont shoot at all if your allies in the way... if you turn on friendly fire they will attempt to shoot the enemy even if their allies are in the way and could get hit.
and cavalry is also planned for later but they will be extremely expensive as knights/cav were extremely rare for minor lords to have.
do the bandits actualy steal or just sit in their encampent and u just get a notification that they stole, if thats the case its a shit feature u need to actually see them going and stealing resources instead of teleporting them out of your storage
If only it had castle building as well, it would be EPIC!!!! Even if just simple walls, towers and manor/keep upgrade. Can't wait to try it.
