We're staying at a traditional style Kyoto townhouse called a Machiya converted into a hotel. So if you're looking for a place to stay with your family in Kyoto, this may be a good option if it meets your criteria. As mentioned in the video, Rinn, invited us to stay at their Machiya, a traditional Kyoto wooden townhouse. Kyoto’s Machiyas are natural wooden townhouses, first built when Kyoto was still the capital of Japan between 1000’s and the 1200’s, and are known for their unique elongated design and narrow entrance, called unagi no nedoko, a place where eels sleep, which was direct a result of laws that taxed property owners based on the width of their entrance. So you'll find that many traditional style machiya homes to be narrow and long. This is our Machiya stay experience and our travels around the Kyoto area.

Just gotta comment on the hot sauce, Paolo isn’t just talking. It’s probably the most unique hot sauce flavor I’ve had with good heat. It’s become my all time favorite hot sauce. Definitely try a bottle, you won’t be disappointed!
I can 100% sign on that comment. The Taste is something I've never had before, and man does that sauce have a kick. I love it and can only recommend to buy it.

I just gotta say. His hot sauce is good, there's a unique taste. BUT it is too hot. The Japanese people who made it said the same thing, they were low key throwing shade at him by saying how hot it was (they didn't make it an insult to save face)

These old places are so cool…probably not so practical to live in, but highly recommended for a stay…or a drink! For example…Spring Valley Brewing set up in a gorgeous old machiya right in central Kyoto (near the Nishiki market). An excellent place for a beer, burger or chocolate cake! 🍻

The first part of the video was very nostalgic to me as you were heading around places that I have actually visited as well during one of my trips to Japan. Always a joy to see Kyoto.
