    Something interesting about Dan is that he worked as part of a group making OXO Good Grips tools, and some other designs, but he doesn't seem to want to take credit for those designs, possible because designs like that are collaborative. I just find it interesting how Dan clearly has the experience, insight, and know-how to evaluate design based on things like usability, left-handed problems, etc., but he never makes a big deal about it. It's like... he could use these videos to shill designs he worked on, and he doesn't, and that gives him a very likeable, "no agenda here" quality. I hope he continues to make these videos for a long time. And I hope the quality products he points out are rewarded in sales.

      @@juliane5632 That is very possible. But to use the example of a similar product I have seen, the french fry cup holder adapter (possibly on this channel), it was made specifically for McDonalds french fry packaging and the large size specifically (I think). Other packages had to be forced to fit.
      To use McDonals again as an example, that burger holder would not hold a 1/4 pounder or hamburger or at least not very well.
      I don't think it's sufficiently universal or adaptable to make it really useful. But I don't have it in front of me or have ever used one. I'm guessing at best.
      I think a better solution would be to wrap the burger like In-n-Out does (I'm Korean and a lot of Koreans seem to do this when eating a Big Mac) or in a bag like Shake Shack.
      And I know two people with Parkinson's, empathise with anyone having trouble with the simple task of eating and completely understand your rationale.

    @Jenaroo Рік тому +21

    I'm a disabled person with erb's palsy. I actually believe the burger holder looks amazing and something that could benefit me greatly. I can only lift one hand to my mouth and because of that, burgers have a higher chance of falling apart (and often are messy) because I can't get as good of a grip. Something like that would hold it together and be easier to grip for me and keep my burger together. Even while eating a burger with your hands vs the device, you used one hand vs two hands. :) The "using both hands like a normal person" comment felt a bit ablest and I hope instead you'd consider using the term "average person" especially since this gadget might not be for ablebodied individuals.

    The only use I could see for the burger holder is for someone who is able to set up a 1-hand holder for someone who is less able to hold with 2-hands. But, a pita would be a much better solution.

    • @daltigoth3970
      @daltigoth3970 2 роки тому +20

      I could see it being good for burgers that have sloppy toppings (chili or a cheese sauce, for example), and may be useful for kids that struggle to hold bigger sandwiches together. You can't stuff much into a pita so you'd have to skimp on toppings, and the texture of the bread is quite different compared to a typical bun, so pita is not always a viable or ideal alternative.
      I've also occasionally had some store-bought buns where the top tended to fall apart when picking up the burger. Sliding the burger into one of these things might resolve that if I happened to have one on-hand, though I would never buy this thing for that purpose. So all that said, I still couldn't justify buying the burger holder, as I'm not having chili-cheese burgers very often and my kids are big enough now they wouldn't benefit from it.

      @@abyeeve The gadget looks way harder to clean, it has multiple moving parts that may need disassemblement. Plus you may still need a pan if you want a toasted bread

      I have an older version (no countdown timer, just a light that changes when it's done), and it's worked fine for a while. Way easier for the kids to use too.

      @@abyeeve One thing though, a lot of the gadgets come with really cheap non stick surfaces. And it might be the audio quality but the sandwich maker sounds like it's made of pretty cheap alloy.
