Got advice from an auto body expert because I also didn't want to drill holes into my trunk lid to install the spoiler. First thing you need to do is to use sandpaper and rough up the bottom of the spoiler, Then you need to use a degreaser like R-M 900 to clean off the spoiler. Once that is done you need to use an adhesion promoter like 3M 4298 on the spoiler before sticking on the double sided tape. Make sure you try to cover as much of the spoiler with double stick tape as you can. DO NOT use the tape provided with the spoiler. Make sure you use 3M Super Strength Molding Tape it will say ideal for attaching vehicle body side moldings, trim and emblems. You also need to do these steps on the trunk lid. Use sandpaper or a brillo pad to rough up the paint on the trunk lid. You don't want to take off too much paint. Just scratch it up slightly. Clean with a degreaser, then use an adhesion promoter. Peel off all the double stick tape covering all at once and place it on the trunk lid correctly the first time. Its best to use a second person to install because you only get one chance. Once the spoiler is on the trunk lid press down firmly and use a microfiber cloth to push down and move along the top of the spoiler to fully seat to the lid. Use a heat gun or blow dryer to heat up the tape along the edges of the spoiler. Wait 72 hours for the tape to fully cure before you drive in the rain or carwash. Your spoiler should stay on permanently now!!
I put side scoops on my Mustang without sanding anything. I did exactly what the author of this video did. Although the side scoops aren’t on a moving part, like a trunk lid. However, my side scoops have gravity and wind (driving fast too!). They have stayed completely in place for 10 years, without screws or sanding. I did exactly what Romanian Thunder did.
Scuffing up the underside of the spoiler I might try but not the vehicle clear coat unless ur 100% positive it will not be changed. And if u do choose to scuff the clear coat mask the sides of the area with tape so u don’t go outside if what the spoiler will cover. One thing I’d do differently from the video is apply tape to the sides and bottom edge like the first piece so dirt etc won’t get underneath
Just got a lip spoiler that was supposed to be mounted with screws but didn't want to drill into my trunk. This video was EXACTLY what I needed! Good work man!
I kindly request that you bear in mind that I am a common individual who was experimenting with the use of UA-cam at the time. As such, I respectfully ask that you employ this information judiciously and prudently.
I did everything exactly as you did here and the outside edges of the spoiler came loose after a couple of weeks. Use the hidden bolt kit that came with the spoiler and do it right!
Great tutorial. I have the same type car ( Varvatos edition). My spoiler is enroute. Im gonna use your video as my template. I have to order some 3M VHB TAPE.
Awesome, i just got a spoiler from the same company to add to my gf optima.. i have on my sonata a carbon fiber one and it been holding on pretty good with the 3m tape..about 3 years now..i did just remove it to have the carbon fiber re done.. nice job man.
Warming the 3M tape with a constantly moving heat gun will make a big improvement in adhesion also. Use caution -- DO NOT overheat the spoiler or it may warp!
I'm about to install this spoiler on my 300 as well. Can you tell me how well it is mounted? It's a daily driver and I just don't want to have any issues in the winter with it coming loose or anything.
Thanks for responding. I put the spoiler on a little over a week ago. I did exactly what you did in your video. It looks like its holding ok but the ends of the spoiler look like they have a gap between the spoiler and the trunk. Have you had this issue?
Interesting that you did *NOT* run the tap _ALLLLL_ the way to the ends, as the ends/tips is where it is apt to curl up or not rest flush on the trunk deck. Did you own the car long enough to see if the results held up?
Hi, I know it's been 7yrs since making this video, I just bought a 2016 Chrysler 300S, I just want to know if you remember who or what company that you bought the spoiler from. Thanks
hey Romanian thunder, how has it held up since you frist put this on. I am going to do mine the same way but first I want to know if it will hold up. thanks for the video.
it's on there good. I installed this last year in August. Made it through the Cold Missouri winter and hot summer. I power wash my car all the time and it dosnt effect it.
will the tape peel the paint if the spoiler ever needs to come off? i just bought a spoiler for my alfa romeo giulia and i will be using tape to apply it
@@RomanianThunder ... I was just about to ask if you still had it on there. I was concerned about carwashes. But obviously u still have it on a year later. So I guess I can try this for my 2016 Chrysler 300C. Thanks for the tip. 👍🏾
The best way to remove it is to clean around the edges really well and use wd-40 and 20lb fishing line. Won't leave a mark and the little bit of tape left over can be removed with a microfiber cloth and wd-40
scott hughes I have the same problem and it lifts on the edges. I have a 300 too. I took it off and reinstalled it but I started lifting again. Have you drilled yours in yet?
I typed the color code in a message to the seller on ebay. Some of them even have the lists of colors for your car and their codes on the ebay listing. Pretty simple. Got my wing recently and looking forward to installing it

I just used this method well I had someone else do it for me but doesn’t seem as flush as it should on one end maybe tape wasn’t lined right.. what happens if water seeps in because this tape is a bitch to take off and do it over
Who wants me to make a follow up video showing the durability after one year?
Is it still on ??
Luis Corona yes it’s still on with no problems
Does the trunk still open up when you use the remote??

The reason I got an adhesive spoiler is so I didn't have to damage my car. TF you mean "sand down your trunk." That's insanity.
Just got a lip spoiler that was supposed to be mounted with screws but didn't want to drill into my trunk. This video was EXACTLY what I needed! Good work man!
Yes, mine was supposed to be mounted with screws also. I didn't want to damage my car. This is a perfect alternative!!!
Five year old video and really helped me a lot today. Thanks bro
Also make sure its not cold out your trunk should be warm.
Im going to be installing one on my challenger this exact same way, great video man 👍
The best part is when he starts pacing at the end cause the damn thing came out good as heck ! Looks perfect 👌🏻
I got the same spoiler for my 300 and I drilled 3 small holes and also used the 3m tape I wouldn’t trust that tape alone for a rear spoiler
Where did you purchase your spoiler?
Quick tip. People are following a guide, you already have their attention. Background music isn't necessary.
Amazing instructions! I can’t wait to apply my spoiler now
I kindly request that you bear in mind that I am a common individual who was experimenting with the use of UA-cam at the time. As such, I respectfully ask that you employ this information judiciously and prudently.
I’m glad you guys enjoyed this video!
How's the spoiler holding up? Thinking of doing the same for mine bc I don't wanna drill into the trunk either
I did everything exactly as you did here and the outside edges of the spoiler came loose after a couple of weeks. Use the hidden bolt kit that came with the spoiler and do it right!
Same here. Had mine bolted on as well.

DO YOU still have the car?
Thanks for the video man. Just what I was looking for
Update on mine, i used this same tape cleaned everything made sure it was warm and one side is already starting to lift 😢 im gonna have to re do it.
Great idea man saves the drilling that could lead to rust later on
Which 3m doubleside tape you use there's many heavy duty tape for exterior outdoor and performance??
Good video! But when would you connect the reverse wires? Before or after spoiler installation?
The hump at the end 😭😭😭😭 #pause. Thanks for the video, hooking up my Tesla spoiler today.
u did it?
how has it held up in the rain? Since theres room and cracks where the rain can get in, has it affected the spoiler?
@BB8IDEN he has a follow up video from over a year later showing the spoiler still on, stuck fast with no problems
How are the ends holding up, because sometimes that part starts popping up after time
That was a good job I took your advice on every step I’m doing my own thank you
pretty good tutorial man. cant wait to try this out soon
nice job man, surprised this video doesn't have more views
Because he doesn't have specifics of vehicle in the title...
Car Wash and Freeway Driving does it last
Does it Hold with air Wash and freeway driving????
Are u having any loosening problems after using 3m tape. That’s a sweet look I want it lol
Warming the 3M tape with a constantly moving heat gun will make a big improvement in adhesion also. Use caution -- DO NOT overheat the spoiler or it may warp!
Thanks for the tutorial and the followup video a year later man, helped me a bunch! I'm gonna tackle this installation pretty soon!
Great vid!! I just installed a spoiler my 2015 300S. It was quick and easy! Thanks!!
Send me pictures on Instagram. instagram.com/romanian_thunder94/
Great video man! Very thorough explanation 👌🏼
Watched your video, and it helped me. Thank you
5 years later....did you have any problem with the spoiler coming off the trunk lid?
What going through a car wash or washing the car how long will that tape last ?
I'm about to install this spoiler on my 300 as well. Can you tell me how well it is mounted? It's a daily driver and I just don't want to have any issues in the winter with it coming loose or anything.
I have no problems. Make sure your paint is clean. The 3M foam tape is super strong.
Thanks for responding. I put the spoiler on a little over a week ago. I did exactly what you did in your video. It looks like its holding ok but the ends of the spoiler look like they have a gap between the spoiler and the trunk. Have you had this issue?
The gap is normal.
That's what mine did as well!
The gap IS NOT NORMAL OR ACCEPTABLE!

Im doing this tomorrow! Thanks❤
Aye my romanian brother🇷🇴🇷🇴
Outstanding Job
what wideness is it half or one inch??
How long does it last dose it fall off
how long did you leave it for until you took for a drive?
Do you guys recommend Mountain a STI rear window spoiler with double-sided tape? I want to install this on my WRX but I don't want to drill any holes
Very good we need u.stay with us.
Would it not be better to clay bar the surface first then apply the alcohol ?.
hey Romanian thunder, how has it held up since you frist put this on. I am going to do mine the same way but first I want to know if it will hold up. thanks for the video.
Richard Roberts that’s what I’m wondering. After a typical American summer and winter how does the tape hold up.
it's on there good. I installed this last year in August. Made it through the Cold Missouri winter and hot summer. I power wash my car all the time and it dosnt effect it.
It's held up great!!! I live in St. Louis Missouri where it is hot as hell in the summers and ice cold in the winters.
@@RomanianThunder hey I live there!
Nice, thanks for giving me confidence,,,,how about the front lip?
Great video, boutta go get some 3m tape right now
Thank you bro ! Cant wait to Install mine on the 300s as well !

eBay, search by car model.
will the tape peel the paint if the spoiler ever needs to come off? i just bought a spoiler for my alfa romeo giulia and i will be using tape to apply it
I never had to remove it and I have no plans to remove it. It should be permanent. I had it installed on my car for a year now with no problems.

Nope! I power wash my car. Its been on there for almost a year without problems
Correct, if you clean and prepare the surface you should not have any problems. I power wash my car every week.
How is going? the spoiler still holds up?
I did mine about 2 years ago and after about 4 months it started lifting on the corners, I’m about to remove it and install with hardware
scott hughes I have the same problem and it lifts on the edges. I have a 300 too. I took it off and reinstalled it but I started lifting again. Have you drilled yours in yet?
How has the paint held up
jesus Hernandez great! I’m never going to remove it, so I’m not going to damage anything. I posted a follow up review video. Go watch it!!!!
LOOKS GOOD...
Great video tbh bro thank you so much.
Hell yeah Mann that looks dope...
This tape works fine. Dont drill holes in your car.
Nice I brought 300s and want to do the same thing
Nice application
Do your follow up video. I'm curious. Looks good bud 👍
How do you choose color when ordering ?
Alejandro Villegas Check the manufactures sticker located on the drivers side for your cars paint code.
Romanian Thunder and you type that in where? On message to seller ?
I typed the color code in a message to the seller on ebay. Some of them even have the lists of colors for your car and their codes on the ebay listing. Pretty simple. Got my wing recently and looking forward to installing it
