How to Remove Rear Spoiler and DIY a New One on Audi S3

  • This is my latest DIY for you guys to follow. I recently replaced my rear deck with a carbon fiber deck lip. Initially, I connected with a local CF manufacture, installed their lip, then ended up ripping it off because it did not fit perfectly. This was after 3 attempts!
Then I took a chance on an imported Chinese lip. How well did it turn out? Watch the video as I have a full review at the end.
Some key pointers for a flawless install:
    - take your time to remove the stock adhesive
    - prep the truck deck well
    - use an adhesive promotor
    - use 3M VHB tape for the most secure connection
    - have a 2nd person help when placing the lip on
As always, thank you for the support! As my channel grows, I am working on additional DIYs and projects to keep you guys entertained.
Until the next time my friends, this is Peter, The Audi S3 Fanatic!

That little space your taking about is there for a purpose just as your factory had the same space. Air should be able to get in and out there should have been two small holes under your spoiler. Why is that because when it’s super hot out that spoiler will expand and if it can’t release the hot air within itself it will bubble and warp and will be no good. That is the reason for that little space so air can escape from the two very small holes under the spoiler. If you for some reason covered those up with tape then be prepared to replace it after a hot summer or if your like me I live in Florida so it’s hot all year it won’t be long before it’s trash. I can send you pics of a spoiler that was installed with those holes covered and show you. If you purchase a aftermarket non carbon fiber spoiler but one like yours that is plastic carbon material and you don’t see two small breather holes then drill some but be careful not to drill through your spoiler. ATTENTION if you bought a real carbon fiber spoiler don’t even try drilling it you will crack it. Takes special drill bits and an expert to do so but you don’t have to worry if it’s really true carbon fiber it doesn’t need breather holes. Unfortunately we have all seen what happens to plastic that has sat in the Sun they don’t do so hot no pun intended lol. Only reason your factory spoiler doesn’t need to breath is because it’s not hollow like these after market ones can be.
