Flatearthers: "24-hr sun can't exist on a flat earth. You can't go to Antarctica. And there is no 24-hr sun. " Also flatearthers: Ok, you can go to Antarctica, but there isn't 24-hour daylight. : Ok, there is 24-hour daylight, but there is no 24-hour sun. : Ok, there is 24-hour sun, but it doesn't disprove the earth is flat. Sounds like people constantly lying.
@DerekScottOHara You may be OK with the lies because flatearthers have been constantly lying for quite a long while. You get used to it. And it becomes a norm.
The only thing, that can be flat earth,is space station without terain features. And even so it's a sphere,it's made of many circles,in various sizes. So ,maybe, flathearthers has come from space station, that is similar to the Death Star.

@@meridianheights6255 Hate to break it to you but Christians have spent years telling flat earthers to not only stop using the Bible as proof that the earth is flat, but that they don't claim them. Not to mention all the verses in the bible that point to the earth being spherical.
King, you make the assumption that a Globe sceptic like myself all have some hallowed doctrine, like a good little mainstream media devotee you clearly are. I stand on the ground like yourself with no detectable curve. That is as much as I need. I hold a BSc Hons in Surveying and was up until 2014 when I started testing for a curve was dyed in the wool Athiest. So how does that play out with your pseudo-psychological breakdown?
8:00 - The Bible does not talk about cosmology. There are only two verses in the Bible that indirectly relate to the structure of the Earth as a planet: 1. Job 26:7 - "He stretched out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing" 2. Isaiah 40:22 - "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth". The Hebrew word 'hug' (מעגל) which was used in this verse, means 'circle', can also mean 'ball'. In the same way, we are talking about a round (circular) sun or moon. I am a Christian and thank you for your work. Good job!
Some of the primary concerns and areas of focus for people honestly reading and understanding the Bible should be the literary types being used, figures of speech common to the day the work was written, and the original audience.
I think you are making his point, he mentioned that Christian flat earthers, thinks that anyone that does not think the Bible says the earth is flat is wrong and evil by extension. In other words the flat earther is arrogant in thinking they know the Bible more than millions of other ppl
The Bible does provide some astrophysics: Matthew 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days: ‘The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’"
There is definitely some trolling going on. But I have had in-depth interactions with many flat-earthers who genuinely believe it. There is no way to know what percentage of online flerfs are true believers, but there are a lot, I'm afraid.
To the followers of the Bible, it WAS written by God. Therefore his point stands. You're disagreeing with the logical validity of a religious claim but that has no bearing on what they believe about it. Personally I believe it is God's Word, but I also believe that some errors have been introduced through the translation process into English. If my own bible has footnotes that say "1.) or possbily xyxyxyxy", that tells me that even the interpreters were not certain enough of how to translate a specific verse that they could say definitively its xxxxx and not yyyyy. This is where we as Christians, should be smart enough to realize we need to hold our doctrines with some measure of humility because we might just be wrong. But you don't find that amongst the Flat Earth set. They are often a bit OCD for the absolute most literal interpretation and then they hold on to it like a rabid dog.
Saying "your crazy" the end would have been just as effective as this video. The Darren attitude, appeal to authority, lack of any substantial facts, the projecting, the TV like editing, you really hit all the marks there.
Define what a FE or like myself a Globe sceptic actually is and explain what apparently we ALL believe. They have tried numerous times already to show a 24 hour Sun, with proven fake videos. So this time they believe they have gone one better by taking along, FE shills, Press X to doubt that any video they release will not be proven to be another fake. Jeran was Quoted by the New York Times as the top guy in the FE community, not by me or many others. Actually went to sleep during the 24 hours and left his equipment with the Ball Cult LOL. Yeah sounds legit to me! I know dinosaurs exist, because how else did they make all those Jurassic Park documentaries? Forgot to add I hold a BSc Hons degree in Surveying. So hardly unegermcated as you claimed. I will bet my right nut, that I know way more about your heliocentric model than you do.
Yes this is describing. Arrogant, Egocentric, Egoistic, Superior. It's not just problem of flerfs, but whole humanity. Often we are at least Antropocentric which is also kind of ilusion. But for sure the flerfs tends to be more egoist because the FE concept is much more selfcentric than GE.
Need a citation for that word salad Mr Channel. This Globe sceptic has no theory, no model, and I really want most men removed from your humanity statement. If you insist on including men, concentrate on our Overlords and CEOs. I do not sit around metaphorically stroking my ego, the opposite in fact but you carry on. Shaming FEers is all you have buddy. There is no detectable curve at ground level, and people's feelings will not change that FACT.
As a child I watched Fireball XL5, Stingray and Thunderbirds and I realised that the 3 storylines were incompatible with one another or the characters and organisations would meet. Later I realised that the world religions were not only incompatible with each other but they contained contradictions within themselves. Science however seemed consistent, when you made better tools you discovered more science which in turn allowed you to make better tools. On the limits of the best scientific tools you have are areas of theoretical science awaiting a new generation of tools that will prove or disprove the theories. If science were wrong the tools wouldn't work. For flat Earth to be true almost all science would have to be untrue and the technology built from that science wouldn't work. The Royal Navy kept log books on their ships so the performance of a vessel could be assessed by the Admiralty, the log books of Captain Cook's voyages would have had to have been seriously rewritten at the time if Captain Cook had sailled around a flat Earth but reported back to the nation as if the Earth was a globe. Why would the Royal Navy in the 18th century wish to disguise the shape of the Earth when most of the population were illiterate and did not care?
Consider too that all the major conspiracy theories conflict with one another. Any logical person would have to admit that 9 out of 10 of them are false. So then, how likely is it that their pet conspiracy theory is the one that is true? The odds are 10 to 1 that their preferred conspiracy theory is false too.
The Problem with Flat Earthers is that they have different model for every single question BUT globe model ( JUST ONE ) gives answers to ALL question and observations. You can make predictions and then confirm that same prediction, flat earthers cant do that
A different model for each question, or many times NO model. However, yes, they have no one consistent model that can explain everything known fact and make predictions about new unknown facts. I have long been amazed at the whole flat earth mentality, wondering what 'flaws' they exhibit that keep them in the flat Earth camp. You have touched on many of them, but I do think that arrogance is perhaps the biggest, overarching issue. One specific aspect is the belief they have that the truth can be determined by one's own personal observations. Yet they do not allow that OTHER people may be (far!) better observers. Yes, I think arrogance with tantrum-throwing tendencies is a very good explanation.
While you make many good points, getting to the core emotional dynamics that facilitate flat earth belief, it simply is not true that flat earthers are not ignorant or stupid. They absolutely are ignorant, by definition, since they do not know the earth is a globe. Having awareness of the globe earth concept but rejecting it is not knowledge. However, it is appropriate to put arrogance as a primary cause of their dysfunction, because it is arrogant ignorance that results in a lack of good sense, judgement and understanding, which is what the word stupidity describes.
99% of flat earthers got into flat earth because they were defending the globe like you are doing now. If you want to educate a flat earther, you yourself have to know the globe inside out. Being in these debates, you begin to learn both sides. Then, one day, you eat humble pie and realise flat earth is actually reality. Your opinion is wrong. Until you understand the flat earth cosmology inside out, you're just being ignorant, spouting your opinion on it.
It's probably not possible to go through even the youth part of one's life without seeing a globe or picture of a global earth. Wilful ignorance IS arrogance. Look at atheists for the perfect example of that.
Maybe they know the Earth is a globe, but they insist it is not just to spite everyone who rejects the Bible. Most of the ones I argue with will quote the bible in an attempt to "shame me".
@@timhallas4275 Why care about Flat earthers/ Like atheists, just let them ramble their nonsense as a civil right and step aside them on the street and let them pass.
3:54-4:01 No, I’m sorry, but they are. Both of them. Ok, the information is available. So? It’s available, but that doesn’t mean they’ve read it, which they literally either never read it or fail to read/interpret it properly. Not to mention, they come up with logical arguments that only a moron would see as valid. 4:10 No, they do. They literally do.
Here's the thing. It would literally be impossible for them to be in on it. It would be impossible for even just the 659,087 documents on the NASA Technical Report Server to be made up. It's not that they could be in on it and just aren't; the work they produce in the form of papers, books, other documents are simply based on observations of reality (though profoundly complex in nature and extremely difficult if not impossible to understand without years of advanced training), and therefore impossible to fabricate. And every product of every technological industry such as spacecraft and GPS instrumentation are also impossible to be made up, because they are exist and can only function because of reality. The main problem with believing in a flat Earth comes down to one thing: lack of critical thinking (and as you point out, super arrogant!). I'm of average intelligence, but I am happy to celebrate the work of scientists that are freaking brilliant. I wish flat Earthers could enjoy this too!
In my opinion they are all of those things to a varying degree. This video comes on the heels of The Final Experiment where a few flat earthers and a few globe proponents went to Antarctica to witness and record the 24 hour sun. This is something many flat earthers have been saying for years is impossible according to their flat earth map. A map where the ice wall encompasses the entire flat earth. Even though these flat earthers witnessed the event, recorded the event, live streamed the event in real time along with a few other documented experiments along the way, while there and on their way back...a huge majority in the FE community remain unconvinced. The fact that the sun is recorded in real time moving across the sky in Antarctica counter-clockwise but filmed in the Arctic north moving across the sky clockwise isn't even enough to convince them. The celestial star trails filmed in time-lapse in the south move clockwise while they move counter-clockwise in the Arctic north isn't enough to convince them the earth isn't flat. A 24 hour sun in the Antarctic south while simultaneously having a 24 hour night (polar night) in the Arctic north isn't enough to convince them the earth isn't flat, rather it's spherical. So I'm sorry. With such overwhelming evidence that is predicted by the earth being a sphere...these people are indeed "stupid", "ignorant", "Arrogant". What other options are we left with?
🤯 You explained the mind of a flat earther *perfectly!* Dare I say, "expertly", or "elderly". 😉😆 I will never call a flat earther stupid again. They are arrogant (just as we all are, in one way or another). Thank you for putting together this fantastic video! 👏

Because NASA admits all of the footage is composite in other words that is good as made it in Photoshop🤷🏻♂️ the fact of the matter is the entire media has been owned since 1930 we can’t trust any of it really particularly when you go back and find yourself facing versus in the Septuagint that confirmed that Jesus was trafficking children and was one of only 30 Christ at the time funded by Roman politicians who were in favour of a New World religion sound familiar😂
Na they stupid !! Good start to your argument, bad English, bad Grammar, followed by two exclamation marks. I am guessing your English tutor was just busting open with pride that SHE taught you. And this Flerf, actually it is Flerfer, but I digress, speak for all FEers and Globe Sceptics? What a very comprehensive, and detailed study you carried out there. He didn’t say any of that, he just said religious people attribute the attitude to atheist, not that they actually have a point.
The word " *BELIEVE* " is explained in the dictionary. More people should learn the explanation of that word and use it less in matters that are/were proven by science over and over again...
I'm not understanding 25:44 What is the argument being made here? That atheists want to have the moral structure provided by faith, but reject the existance of the deity which is the authority?
I meet a lot of people, who struggle with the flood of information in todays world. To be fair a lot of people aren't taught in school, how to distinguish between reliable and unreliable information. A lot of people do not even understand why science is necessary or why we shouldn't believe in gods, ghosts or other superstitions. To me this shows a lack in education in epistemology and also a lack in education with regards to the extent of human irrationality. Cognitive biases (dozens have been experimentally verified), optical illusions and other sensory illusions, logical fallacies, our selective perception, our selective memory and the plasticity of our memory, halucinations etc. should be taught in school. We should also look at history and look at the enormous number of outright false believes that were held. Then we should connect this to epistemology and ask what this means. How can we know things when we are that irrational? Then people would not just understand the scientific method, but understand why the scientfic method is so important. It's not just nice to have but absolutely necessary for anyone, who is truly interested in what our world actually looks like. But again, this isn't something that is easy to come up with yourself. This also isn't something that people just think about and figure out in their spare time. This belongs into schools. I have a hard time understanding why i didn't learn this in school. I was fortunate enough to come in contact with those ideas though.
"A lot of people do not even understand why science is necessary or why we shouldn't believe in gods, ghosts or other superstitions." In this context, and for most people (IMO), "science" is just another religion; a thing to be believed. But I wonder why you claim we should not believe in gods and ghosts? The word "should" implies a goal; if I wish to accomplish "A" I should do "B". But if I don't care about "A", the should goes away. Pascal's Wager: It is better to believe in gods and be wrong, than to disbelieve gods and be wrong.
@@thomasmaughan4798 IF you are interested in having as many correct views and as few incorrect views as possible, then you shouldn't believe in ghosts or gods and you should learn and care about science and epistomology. This means that if you want something you're more likely to achieve it.
@@thomasmaughan4798 Pascals wager contains a logical fallacy, since we have many religions and if you chose a god the likelyhood of chosing the wrong god is larger then the likelyhood of chosing the right god. @@DerekScottOHara No, you didn't use the scientific method. Why didn't you? And i'm so sure about this that i predict that if you tell me about the measurement you're talking about i can guarantee you that i will find a major flaw in it. You'll probably ignore this as well and just chose not to tell me about your supposed measurement.
I've been following this FE phenomenon(for lack of a better word) for nearly a decade already & it STILL raises an eyebrow. The extremely uneducated, ultra-gullible, true believing fools(T-shirt buyers) & their outright denial of reality itself is an issue for psychology(& related) more than anything else IMHO. & the grifters/leaders(T-shirt sellers) just need a lesson in morality. Tar & feathering would match the transgression perfectly IMO. 🤪 & regarding NASA/space, "Compartmentalization" my arse, they've obviously never worked anywhere that does engineering/development of ANY sort, especially cutting edge &/or large scale. & yes indeed, "religi-flerfs"(which prolly makes up the majority) tend to be the most hopeless, & by FAR. Stupid may indeed be a bit harsh but, not grasping middle school math is absolutely a prerequisite for becoming a flerf in the 1st place. They are not only ignorant of virtually ANY & ALL things STEM related but, super-arrogantly AND willfully so. Imagine holding a worldview that can be(is) ENTIRELY shattered by mere cub scout knowledge & the ability to solve a triangle. This was a pretty good summary though. & I'd suggest that 7+hr fairly recent masterpiece documentary from Veritas, for anyone more interested. & I agree with respect our elders too but, in this case I'm glad you expanded that to "trust the actual experts." & of course not blindly so but, humans would have made no progress if we always had to personally do everything from scratch ourselves. Some of them(Jeran et al.) have even literally been teaching that "education is the enemy", which is infuriating. Super secret special knowledge mode engaged fo sho. Like ALL things flat erf/tin foil hattery, it tends to be mostly just sad, absolutely absurd, occasionally aggravating & always funny AF, all in one.
This was excellent and I would like to thank you for all your hard work in making it, certainly well thought out and clearly presented. Also I was a mechanic for 54 years if anyone needs advice :)
This is too one sided. Reality is rarely that simple. I'd assume that there are flat earthers, who are indeed stupid i.e. they can't think in a complex manner. Other flat earthers might be simply uneducated (scientifically illiterate). They might not even realise that they could be trapped in an echo chamber. Others might seek attention and simply ended up enjoying their role. Others might have indeed been overestimating their education and when they were confronted with a gap in their knowledge, instead of admitting that they weren't as educated as they thought and seek help they took it as evidence that flat earth is correct. Other people might feel insecure about their lack of education so they end up devaluing science, which makes their "common sense knowledge" much more valuable. Others might have been confronted with so much misinformation that they've ended up distrusting everything and become open to the most obvious fakes. Others might just want to rebell against a perceived enemy. And of course once you've bought into it and expressed your opinion publicly and maybe even behaved badly because of it, then it becomes even harder to let go. The more you invest the bigger the price of changing your opinion. You might even get into very emotional, confrontational conversation with people and this makes you double down even more. You feel attacked and just want to defend yourself. Once you dive into it it's surprising in how many ways people can deceive themselves (all backed up by science). We just aren't the rational creatures we sometimes think we are. Which is why we can't just look at the world and expect to see reality. Science is absolutely necessary, if we want a realistic view of our world. It's not just nice to have.
It's like when I used to explain why god is impossible in any form, and what it actually is, as the experts on religions and more importantly the study of consciousness. They can't move forward into the more truthful reality.
I have a problem with your definition of experts, since it does not account for the many fields that have fake experts. For example you can be an expert in the field of homeopathy and have years of experience in making this stuff. Yet, you'd now less then person, who has done a quick google search about the subject and read some of the scientific studies that tested homeopathy. Veritasium has a good video about what is required for people to even become experts in a particular field. Not all fields allow people to become experts due to the lack of corrective feedback by reality. In some fields you get feedback that is utterly useless and does not allow you to even judge your success and this often creates fake experts (like in homeopathy or political commentary).
I somehow have a feeling they play too much sandbox role playing games on PC, and think its reality, the worldmap in the game is flat with limiter/ sky dome surrounding it.
Nice video. I agree that it takes monumental amounts of arrogance and stupidity to be a Flat Earther. Without stupidity, they could have realized they were wrong, but they can’t. They were unable to grasp fundamental math and physics concepts in high school. With their arrogance, they either think they understand physics while not having a clue, or they believe it is all lies. It feels great thinking you know something other people are not smart enough to figure out. Feeling smarter than all others is new to them, and they like it. Since Flat Earthers have identified as being Flat Earthers, then proving themselves wrong would mean they have to reevaluate who they are and if their Flat Earther friends will even be their friends anymore if the Earth is a sphere. Cognitive Dissonance protects them from having a life identity crisis. I feel empathy for them, but you have a point that their coping mechanisms make them likely to lash out at anyone trying to help them understand. They will have to dig themselves out of the hole they dug for themselves. It will be a long journey towards learning greater humility. Thank you for this video.
I appreciate how in-depth you went in writing this comment. It means a lot. I think you've pointed out something important here that I didn't in my video: the issue of identity. The same dilemma arises within members of any group that defines its shared identity via a shared set of beliefs or doctrines. This is not to say that it is necessarily wrong for a community to be centered on a shared set of agreed-upon ideas. However, I think it is important to be self-aware about the inevitable effects of that structure when it comes to members' introspective life journeys and interpersonal relationships with fellow members, and perhaps to make efforts to offset those effects. You're very welcome.
@toddhendrickson8801 you can't be serious. It was clearly a joke. And I feel certain you have testable repeatable proof of the earth being flat. ( saying it looks flat doesn't count ).

Technically, they are correct. Gas pressure does require a container as it is the pressure a gas exerts equally against the inside of a container. Atmospheric pressure, on the other hand, does not. They fixate on gas pressure since they refuse to acknowledge the existence of gravity, which causes atmospheric pressure. When debating a Flerf, do not concede that gas and atmospheric pressures are the same thing. They have to acknowledge the existence of the atmospheric pressure gradient.
@@beachfeet6055 Yes, gas pressure does require a container. Gases are fluids which means people always exist in a fluid environment that contains atmospheric pressure just like fish are subject to different atmospheric/hydrostatic pressures in the fluid oceans the deeper you go. Gravity is a strange force as described as it is powerful enough to contain trillions of tons of water/atmosphere from flying into the vacuum of space (an insanely powerful force), yet weak enough to allow butterflies to flitter about. Amazing!
@@beachfeet6055 If gravity traps gasses from leaving our atmosphere, wouldn't the atmosphere grow larger as time progresses? Wouldn't it pull in any gasses that came close enough for gravity to affect?
@@vstpluginsonicxtc Nothing unusual about it when you consider gravity pulls of each molecule with a tiny force. WE add those forces in our heads and see them as huge forces. The fact is, they act individually. That's why a molecule of ocean water only needs a little bit of extra energy to allow if to float freely (evaporate) away into the sky.
Lol this morning I was watching clips of a video declaring the total opposite. The video clips were from flat earther Eric Dubay saying that the difference between flat earthers and globe believers is that flat earthers have "humility"/"humbleness." And now at night I've come to this one saying in all caps at 6:30 that the problem is that "flat earthers are arrogant." I went to the flat earther video to get an accurate quote: "The Real Reason You're Not a Flat Earther" Eric Dubay from the transcript: "One of the main differences that pits Flat Earthers in stark contrast to Globe Believers is the fact that flat earthers have shown the capacity to consider new information with an open mind and if necessary admit that they were wrong." "the more you pay attention to people on both sides of the issue, the more blatantly clear it becomes with time. this most obvious difference between those who accept and reject the Flat Earth is humility - I can already hear the audible groans and see their eye Globes rolling back in their sockets - but it's true. the main reason most people reject Flat Earth is because they lack the humbleness to accept that they might be wrong and cannot temper their egos long enough to truly listen to and fully consider the opposing side deep down they don't want to admit that they may have been duped and so will continue to double and triple down on debunk explanations rather than opening their minds to new possibilities"
You should go ask Eric why he changed his stance on the 24 hour sun in Antarctica. He claimed for years that it would prove the globe. But as soon as a group of Flat Earthers and globe defenders headed out there to see if it was a reality, he not only refused to go but now pretends like he never claimed it would debunk Flat Earth. You should go question him about that.
@@DannyTruthMagnified i'm not a flat earther, and I have pretty near zero interest in hearing Dubay's reasons. if you really want to know, go ask him yourself and you can even report back to me if you like. I just thought it was funny to hear these two different arguments on the same day.
I think Martymer 81 on his FLERFPRATT series states flat Earthers precisely when he defines stupid, in which a stupid behaivour a deliberate and maladaptive behaviour, and a stupid person would consistently engage in stupid behaviour. Flat Earthers aren't necessarily low in intelligence, rather, they often preform behaviour that is deliberate, maladaptive and informed, such as assuming experts must be wrong even when knowing otherwise. It's also stated by many people who have left the flat Earth cult that they believed in a flat Earth in their hearts rather than their head.
Good work. Well written. Well reasoned. And well put together. But. I found the music to be distracting, unnecessary, and irritating. Similarly the tediously clichéd cut-away library shots. I don’t need a visual to remind me what ‘denial’ means. But I was thankful and appreciative that you did not find it necessary to use a cut away for every other word, as some seem to do. Other than this a good video. And more considered than many of the flat earth debunkers.
... "Winter comes and the winds blow colder - While some grew wiser you just grew older - You never listen anyway and that the hell of it"... -The Hell Of It : Paul Williams (I know, it's an old one)
No, they are not stupid as such. Intelligence is a tool and it can also be used to justify one's own beliefs against all the evidence to the contrary (not to mention otherwise untenable ideologies, at least to their own satisfaction). So the flat earthers who actually try to form any kind of theories (not those who just follow their lead) use their intelligence to make excuses for their beliefs, including "moving the goalposts". If they were stupid, they would not be able to do even that. But they are so sure of their own conclusions that it does at least equal to arrogance.
Why does Critically Mindful state that "everything they need to learn the world is flat is readily available on the internet" ? The internet ? They should've been taught all this in high school science class. Did no one, during their youth, visit a Natural History Museum with their parents ?
My favrorite personal pet conspiracy theory is that money is fake. But the truth is money is artificial, not fake. There is a difference. (doh!) So I am not immune to stupidity, and neither are you.
We refer to "elders" as experts these days. Messed up thing is that these days everyone thinks they know more than experts in the field, who have been studying the subject their whole lives, because they did a few Google searches. Dunning Kruger + internet access, I imagine (sigh!)
And....maybe Premise 4 should be..."what proofs are there of any gods?" ( and there are dozens and dozens of them, maybe thousands! ...gods, not proofs)
_"We Must Respect our Elders"_? Seriously? For once, from the view of formal logic, that's a literal argument from authority fallacy. @@thomasmaughan4798 At the day-to-day interpersonal level, the very idea that something or other is proven is generally nonsensical. Argument from authority is always nonsensical. The person asserting a position who uses authority as an argument is simply not making an argument. Very regularly I'm challenged to PROVE something is true or not by people who simply will not consider evidence that their belief may need to be modified. I can provide evidence, I can provide logical inconsistencies, good reasons, supply witness statements, etc., etc.. I generally can't provide PROOF. And the reason they don't need to provide evidence or rationality for their position is because they cite authority. Very, very few people actually know what they're talking about at any given moment, outside of the fact that they're restating something at least similar to what some authority has claimed. When challenged by someone as absurd as an FE, the task of demonstrating a reasoned opinion about the shape of the Earth proves to be too much and they default to an appeal to authority AS AN ARGUMENT. I listened to some debunker "debating"... Witsit?, and the whole thing was an absurd trainwreck. Witsit made a bunch of provably false claims, and whoever was apposing him ignored the claims to personally attack him.
@@jimboha They are robing gullible people on the internet, so problem is BAD education and more rigorous grading system in schools

"A lot of people do not even understand why science is necessary or why we shouldn't believe in gods, ghosts or other superstitions."
In this context, and for most people (IMO), "science" is just another religion; a thing to be believed.
But I wonder why you claim we should not believe in gods and ghosts? The word "should" implies a goal; if I wish to accomplish "A" I should do "B". But if I don't care about "A", the should goes away.

IF you are interested in having as many correct views and as few incorrect views as possible, then you shouldn't believe in ghosts or gods and you should learn and care about science and epistomology.

Pascals wager contains a logical fallacy, since we have many religions and if you chose a god the likelyhood of chosing the wrong god is larger then the likelyhood of chosing the right god. So, you're not on the save side by chosing a god.
Furthermore, if there was a god and he had a hell then we wouldn't know what the criteria is for not getting there. If gullibility is a sin, then religious people will end up in hell and atheists are more likely not to end up in hell.

@@realcygnus you have entirely misinterpreted the phenomenon
@@stauffap I’m impressed
It's like when I used to explain why god is impossible in any form, and what it actually is, as the experts on religions and more importantly the study of consciousness. They can't move forward into the more truthful reality.
flat earth is a phcyological issue and a lot of narcissism
I have a problem with your definition of experts, since it does not account for the many fields that have fake experts. For example you can be an expert in the field of homeopathy and have years of experience in making this stuff. Yet, you'd now less then person, who has done a quick google search about the subject and read some of the scientific studies that tested homeopathy.
Veritasium has a good video about what is required for people to even become experts in a particular field. Not all fields allow people to become experts due to the lack of corrective feedback by reality. In some fields you get feedback that is utterly useless and does not allow you to even judge your success and this often creates fake experts (like in homeopathy or political commentary).
arrogance and ignorance go hand in hand
Quick to judge, quick to anger. Slow to understand...

It's hard to tell how smart they are. They aren't rational enough to be able to tell.
The problem with flat Earthers is being a flat Earther. 🤷♂️
we need to repect 200 000 years of human experience. Chances are you are not the first person to have tried something considering more than 100 billion people have been around before you.
Flat earthers do say stupid things though, like space is fake and you can’t have gas pressure without a container.
Not to mention their evasion of gravity by referring to buoyancy, which depends on gravity.
Flat Earth theories fall into the entertainment category. There are also people who believe that 'Game of Thrones' is real history...
this is overthinking things. they might be arrogant, but if they sincerely believe it, they are definitely stupid

small minds discuss people.
Lol this morning I was watching clips of a video declaring the total opposite. The video clips were from flat earther Eric Dubay saying that the difference between flat earthers and globe believers is that flat earthers have "humility"/"humbleness." And now at night I've come to this one saying in all caps at 6:30 that the problem is that "flat earthers are arrogant."
I went to the flat earther video to get an accurate quote:
"The Real Reason You're Not a Flat Earther"
Eric Dubay
from the transcript:
"One of the main differences that pits Flat Earthers in stark contrast to Globe Believers is the fact
that flat earthers have shown the capacity to consider new information with an open mind and if necessary admit that they were wrong."
"the more you pay attention to people on both sides of the issue, the more blatantly clear it becomes with time. this most obvious difference between those who accept and reject the Flat Earth is humility - I can already hear the audible groans and see their eye Globes rolling back in their sockets - but it's true. the
main reason most people reject Flat Earth is because they lack the humbleness to accept that they might be wrong and cannot temper their egos long enough to truly listen to and fully consider the opposing side deep down they don't want to admit that they may have been duped and so will continue to double and triple down on debunk explanations rather than opening their minds to new possibilities"
Truth from Dubay.
@@DannyTruthMagnified i'm not a flat earther, and I have pretty near zero interest in hearing Dubay's reasons. if you really want to know, go ask him yourself and you can even report back to me if you like. I just thought it was funny to hear these two different arguments on the same day.
Just read that transcript again, with indeed an open mind, if you can. It's just as he says.

An assumption that “experts” all have pure intentions and seek truth rather than influence or power is dangerous.
The scientific method already accounts for this.
An assumption that "truth seekers" all have pure intentions and seek truth rather than influence or money is dangerous.
Apply all this to election deniers and watch their reaction 😅
The hour hand moves 2x faster than the earth rotates
Thank you for the constructive criticism! I appreciate it :)
What a superb dissertation

No, they are not stupid as such. Intelligence is a tool and it can also be used to justify one's own beliefs against all the evidence to the contrary (not to mention otherwise untenable ideologies, at least to their own satisfaction). So the flat earthers who actually try to form any kind of theories (not those who just follow their lead) use their intelligence to make excuses for their beliefs, including "moving the goalposts". If they were stupid, they would not be able to do even that. But they are so sure of their own conclusions that it does at least equal to arrogance.
There is a severe lack of logical thinking to end up at that point
An excellent video. Please make some more.
Why does Critically Mindful state that "everything they need to learn the world is flat is readily available on the internet" ?
The internet ?
They should've been taught all this in high school science class.
Did no one, during their youth, visit a Natural History Museum with their parents ?
Good point, maybe is a consecinse of the way school works, not teaching how to change the mind of the one who dosen't know.

Yes, they are stupid.

The earth is two thirds water that is not carbonated, therefore the earth is flat.
_"We Must Respect our Elders"_?
Seriously? For once, from the view of formal logic, that's a literal argument from authority fallacy. And there's so much wrong with it, it should be easy to see: "My [venerated elder] told me that lightning is Jupiter/Zeus/Odin/Wotan being angry. So I don't need to learn about electricity or meteorology."
I get what you want to say, I've watched to the end, but your "solution" is wrong, and the way you get there, honestly, is missing a few few steps on the way,
_"... it was the medieval christian church that formalized scientific research ..."_
No. First of all, at best you can attribute the fledgling scientific method to the renaissance, Galileo and relevant contemporaries, second, the Arabic world was ahead by a few centuries before they fell back on fundamentalism ("started respecting the elders") and third, the first formal formulation of the scientific method was done by Francis Bacon, not "the church" (however you want to define that, when he was Anglican), in the 1600s.
This guy's argument is 50% Argument from Authority and 50% Argument ad Absurdum.
Air tight logic!
Wow, this is very inciteful. I for sure would want an amateur mechanic that's a brain surgeon digging around in my skull rather than a professional mechanic that saw a YT video of brain surgery!!!
This also goes along with the 7 plus hour video that Vertalis (?) did awhile back. I think it was called 'Flatlined: Exposing What Flat Earthers Believe'.
Title of the video could have been: "Why the argument from authority is not invalid."
Provided that the authority is within the scope of its expertise. However, in the realm of LOGIC, authority is not PROOF. It is persuasion.
What if he'd just calmly taken the claim about surveying manuals not including a spherical Earth and proved that he was lying?
