So, you can't play DCS? Play this game instead!

- DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) is the current and undisputed king of the combat flight simulation video game niche.
There is not much I can say about the total awesomeness of that title that most of you would'n know already.
Unfortunately, many of us don't have a NASA level PC to run DCS as it should or just can't run it at all.
So, I made this video for people with a potato level PC like you ...and me.
New to flight simulation?

I hope everyone is going to get a good pc one day and be able to play dcs
So do I! :-)
I hope someone makes an actual optmized combat flight sim to compete properly with ED
@@HelioLhama The closest to it is Falcon BMS as far as I know.
Aint gonna happen if stupid people with stupid money keep paying fucked up prices for components.
@@kularace7351 agree
Falcon 4 bmw is also a very good option,I might even say better,as it has dynamic campaign, and it’s a whole lot cheaper than dcs, costing only like 5 bucks
I tried it once, but it's pretty complex to play. I think I have to sit down and learn it but the learning curve is tall.
DCS is FREE tho on steam.... tho 99.9% of everything else is payed for
Falcon BMS does have only 3 advantages over DCS wich are dynamic campaign, ATC and simulated g-force damage to your A/G ordonance. Everything else is better in DCS, more study level aircraft, better VR support (in fact, DCS has much better perfomrance in VR than BMS has), proper radar logic with the radar truly scanning the area in front of you, while bms does only some voodoo magic to calculate if your radar should see the bandit or not, much better physics, proper infrared logic, carrier operations and much more. If you want to fly the F-16 and the F-15C exclusively, BMS is for you. For everything else, DCS is the way to go.
@@r4dio4ctiv3man9 Good to know, thanks for the input.
@@r4dio4ctiv3man9when you say DCS “much better physics” are you referring to the F-16 flight model? Because BMS actually has the more accurate flight model based on NASA wind tunnel data and an accurate FLCS model.
I wish to see return of Thirdwire and revival of whole SF series one day, some people really can't work with DCS World, not because their pcs are weak but for its hardness, in Iran we have some sort of pilot schools for this simulator, one my friend flies with F-5 and F-14 and he says he passed multiple F-14 classes for two years like an actual air force classes.
I also wish that, and I don't even ask for much of a change. Maybe a slight improvement in the graphical aspect and the long-awaited multiplayer.
This is definitely a good option as a flight sim lite, with dozens of aircraft, modding community did some amazing things for it.
The only bad information you gave is.... The developer actually stopped supporting this years ago. He still sells all the games in the SF2 series (at a ridiculous asking price in my opinion), but he hasn't supported them in a long time.
Yes, the SF series is basically an abandonware you have to pay for. Luckily there's still a community that supports it, I wonder how long it will last.
@@thejetfighter Impossible to say, but at least what there is should keep someone getting into it now occupied for a long time. It's a shame that some groups kept their mods private. It wasn't a lot but there were some good campaigns that relied on that stuff. I haven't dabbled in SF2 in years now, so I don't know the current situation, but I can't imagine they made their stuff public.
@@BrunoBarata78 I've seen there are some "private" mods and campaigns, they seem pretty good, but they don't respond whe I try to contact them 😕
Complexity takes the fun out of a simulation game. Even in real life aeronautics engineers always strive to simplify the controls and flight management of the aircraft so that the pilot does not become overwhelmed with actions he has to take just to keep the aircraft flying and able to fight.
I think that's what keeps me away from Falcon BMS even though that complexity is what makes it fun for some people.
@@thejetfighter That's their thing I suppose. But I prefer all the small details to be taken care of automatically so that I can focus on flying and combat.
I play DCS but I always come back to play this game
Games like SF2 are always fun to play with :-D
I have wings over Europe,Vietnam and Israel and they are great and work on low end pc and even laptops.I tried to put DCS in my gaming laptop and it almost broke it
DCS is an awesome game but requires a lot of power. Wings Over Europe, Vietnam and Israel are excellent games indeed. I could manage to play them on Window 10 and 11. Still great games to play.
Thanks buddy, it was very interesting to listen, could you tell us about creating mods for LO2? (Namely the Su-30cm cockpit at the moment, as well as the planned mod for the Su-57 and the global mod "Vietnam"?
And also, how about creating Russian subtitles? Do I have to pause the video and translate the text every time it appears? You can just take your text and paste it into Google Translate. (Can you do this as separate UA-cam subtitles or inserted into the video like now?)
Let me try the Google translate into Russian for the subtitles but that will take some time. As far as I know there is a major update panned for Flaming Cliffs 2's MOD, but I don't know the stage of the project as of now.
@@thejetfighter As one of the beta testers, I can say that all we have to do is move the cabin and start the alpha test
Cheers mate, I love your videos! Unfortunately I never managed to get SF2 running under WINE (I'm on a super old Lenovo Z570 laptop that is on Linux life support ;) ). That is the last think keeping me from playing SF2 which leaves me admiring your videos. :)
I hope you get a petter PC soon! Thanks for watching my videos :-D
P.S. my Pc is not exactly low-end but, all the same, i still enjoy playing this ThirdWire sim! It's...simply nice and very user friendly!
This sims are the perfect balance between arcade and simulation. And the number of mods available makes it even better :-D
I still love the game since third wire release wings over vietnam!!!
It's still a really good sim! :-D
P.P.S. i promptly subbed, of course!
Thanks! More videos coming for you to enjoy :-D
I used to play SF2 in my old laptop before I finally got a PC good enough for DCS, it's a great way to start with combat flight sims! Good memories :)
Definitely yes, a good training sim. :-D
dawg I run dcs pretty fine on a laptop... tf you mean NASA supercomputer. Just turn down the graphics, again, I run it on a LAPTOP.
What GPU your laptop has? I have a Nvidia GT710 (4GB).
What versions of the game play on windows 10?
Strike Fighters 2 + 2008 patch. And you have to install it and run it as admin if you're playing on Win 10/11.
@@thejetfighter got it thanks
NASA level pc?
my spec
processor 11th gen intel i7 2.5GHz 8 core
16 gig ram
AMD radeon RX 9700 xt 20gig vram
and i run DCS at highest settings with zero issues
my system was under 2k
I think I need more video power but since my PC it's an Office-turned-gamer SFF PC, that's kind of a hard thing to run on it.
@@thejetfighter yeah and unfortunately video cards are expensive
> DCS is the current undisputed king of combat flight simulation
In terms of Players maybe. But in terms of features it’s not at all.
Some suggestion are welcome. Specially the ones that does not require uber modern PCs. I would play them for the channel :-D
too bad there are no playable soviet jets unless modded and wish they were available on steam
Only Wings Over Europe is available there, but still you have to do something to properly make it work on new PCs. That "something" is on my website by the way ;-)
i5 + 3060 = NASA PC, okay.
What's the GPU you use with that processor?
@@thejetfighterRTX 3060, as he said
@@thejetfighter I play DCS with i5-11400f and RTX4060ti.
And it's smooth on high settings.
@@thejetfighter but rtx3060 is enough for 1920x1080 high or 2560x1440 medium settings.
And You think that everyone can afford it?😅
