- Guys, I just spoke with one of my contacts at ED and a major DCS Super-Carrier Module update is in testing now. Let's hope for all, if not most, of the features promised years ago are updated. One thing I am hopeful is that the deck crew animations are updated to add back some of the "hustle" they had in their movement before. Another item on my wishlist is having an LSO radio station option and control of the waveoff lights. Working elevators are a nice touch, but I don't see us using them much, unless you are more of a super-geek than I am.

I want a control panel so I can steer the ship, adjust heading and speed... and the group follows, or even be able to send the Nathan James a few miles to starboard.....!
Seriously, this is easy compared to the sophistication/programming logic in the Jets.
They already do it with Combined Arms (Speed/Heading/Gun control)

You can control the ship. I set mine up so a F10 command turns ship into wind and speed up.
Far as I know, that's the only way I've heard of people doing it. Perhaps the Airboss Script has options. For our missions, we rarely fly more than 3 hours and I have it set on a steady course into the winds with ships speed and wind set so we get a nice little chop in the ocean (due to the winds) and the boat isn't running too fast so it stays in our AOR. Our group is a small team of veterans who train for war, because we all went to war and. "Touched the mission" and honor those we lost. Cheers!

Well, I can't take credit for the quality of the video as Eagle dynamics released that video without music two years ago on April 27, 2022. This should be a highlight of how long it's been since the super carrier really got some love. I'm confident that ED is moving forward And we are going to see great things still in 2024.
I hope that with this update there will be Taxi Directors. We've been waiting for over a year now and it would be amazing

Top of the list should be sorting the ATC around the boat.......what use are elevators to anyone who wants to conduct realistic carrier ops. Currently the only way is to get a human ATC. Oh, and being able to get a proper pitching deck without having to set unrealistic wind levels would also be great.
For now we are using SRS or Discord to do Paddles/LSO communications, but the pilots landing still have to do the carrier comms and call the ball. Another thing I want is a mission Greenie Board that scores and posts our passes.

Looking forward to the improvements. I really hope crew improvements find their way to airfield crew as well - imagine having guys running around doing... airfield... things... instead of having to use infantrymen to make it seem a little less barren.

I was ships company on the USS Theodore Roosevelt from 86 to 90 (yes, a Plank Owner) as an Aviation Ordnanceman. I spent a LOT of time on the flight deck, so I have first hand memories of what the chaos is like. There were ALWAYS people running across the deck and hustling about. I can remember the shooters yelling "come on, get the lead out!" if you didn't move like you had a purpose. I can remember the way the lights on the island made everything look yellowish and all weird like. This captures it all. How are you getting those shots of the ready rooms? I have never seen that.

I can't take credit for the cinematography, that's my buddies over at DCS. I just mixed the music and spread the word about the upcoming update. Could be two weeks could be two months but it's in testing and that's a good sign. Eagle dynamics is doing great work and if everyone is patient and optimistic, great things will come this year.
Great to see that an update is coming! It's looking good, the crew animations are certainly improved, the pitching deck is great. What I look forward to the most though is for ED to fix the various issues that sometimes plague using the carriers. Things such as aircraft falling off the flight deck when the carrier makes a turn even though the wheel chocks are in, aircraft that are on the deck becoming "broken" (functions no longer working) and forcing a re-slot to a new "unbroken" aircraft and you just got everything started up and set up for flight, aircraft spawning on top of or directly front of a taxiing aircraft causing a collision, and probably others I'm forgetting. I'm sure all will be sorted out in time and I know these things take time with limited resources and a lot of competing priorities, but it has been in a state of "sometimes it works great and other times it will frustrate you until you quit or just take off from an airfield" for a long time now.
Also it would be nice for the communications to and from the carrier and your pilot to remain on screen until you clear it, be scribbled onto a dynamic kneeboard page, or some other method to make it usable in a case III situation. It goes by too fast, too much for a non-navy pilot veteran to use.
Having working elevators, actual parking with the necessary deck crew, better ATC, a realistically pitching deck, etc. would be nice, but for me a more stable experience with the basic features is more important.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing the updates to come, for Supercarrier and DCS as a whole. Thanks for sharing!
I want to explain, this video is 2 years old in its original form from April 2022. They touted features in the video in some of the still pictures of Briefing Room and Airboss areas. I received insider info last week on the "Testing" progress and today I received from the top, we're hopeful of something very soon, but nothing is guaranteed if a problem pops up. My gut feeling is we'll get an official newsletter or video within a month or a little more. For this video, I merely added music to go with the scenes and will be promoting Super-Carrier ops, to include a free giveaway coming this week. The one module i didn't pick up. Instead I went for the upcoming Afghan map and a Viper to bless it with. The thrill of landing and take off from a carrier though never gets old. Next time round the super carrier is top of the list 👍
The hornet, the Viper, and the mud hen are the only three jets of full Fidelity that I own. And I wasn't planning on buying the Third. Great choice on the Viper.

Those were borrowed from Eagle dynamics with their association blessing. I'm sure. We're not a commercial channel so we're not benefiting from it monetarily but we added the music and the timing is that video came out two years ago as a raw update video and only now is the changes for the super carrier in testing and hopeful eminent release. We're talking about the briefing room the enhanced LSO station and more. I'm also hoping that the deck crew movement is improved as well. And for four ships in the same unit, I'm hoping the communications allows for holding hands where everybody gets a good score after landing without having the ATC. Just the lead 😉

I am hoping they do model the hanger below since that would make the super carrier module worth it. Also they can make it players spawn on the elevators that will rise up allowing for people to park their jets on deck without risk of spawn collisions. Also allow players to use the carts to properly park the jets would be nice as well

Never played ARMA, DCS is my primary game of choice. Lol, I built my own Hornet cockpit for it. Wife hates it.

This is long overdue! CV Ops is probably my favorite in DCS...The footage I mixed with new music came out two years ago...and that shows how long it's taken ED. In their defense, the challenges of a war, the pandemic and other stuff has impacted the progress. Further that situation by the consumer's hunger for new modules and terrains. I was on the fence a year ago, but I have falling solidly into the yard of DCS and stand behind ED, no matter what it brings and how long it takes. ~J
It would be nice if the deck crew didn't stand around on the LA during recovery. They also need to expose the CASE recovery state to the ME so we can read the current recovery CASE and specify it if the mission needs it. Oh, and CASE II has been broken since the new clouds.
I noticed I couldn't do case one if I added a certain level of fog. Yeah it's definitely not realistic but better than anything else out there. We have right now.
I just wish the LSO plat cameras worked as advertised in the manual that came with the module...
Yeah, I'd like to find a video on how those work in real life to learn about it.
New features are exciting, but will they fix multiplayer spawn issues with Tomcats, incorrect IFLOLS calibration for Tomcats, AI getting stuck on cats when AI/clients/players are in the stack, the slowly walking deck crew that fouls the landing area on traps, ATC getting clients mixed up, and CASE III comms broken unless each client is in their own separate group?
Great points! I think Heatblur and their Discord might be a good place to see what the latest on the Tomcat fixes. I would like to see the "Holding Hands" for Case I work like it should if the wingmen are in my group. As the flight lead, I should do all the COMM and have them get credit on the pass. As for AI, I never use them. We fill up the boat with our members, most we've had is 8 total on a good day.

Did you guys add in the over deck announcments or are some of these immersion sounds part of the updates? I can't really tell in the video whats new or not. Maybe a video highlighting what these updates are.
ED added it for cinematic value and I mixed the music. The Super-Carrier features are in closed beta testing and this was a refresher update for the original release, guess how long ago it was? The original is linked in the description. 2024 is going to be great for DCS and the SC module is a must for CV nerds like me and my friends.

Oh baby, it turns me on to imagine that we can customize the ready room for our squadron and have it sustain on a server when we have updates to the green board and customized artwork on the wall. Having a fully functional super carrier with all the features plus extra goodies would really help bring CV operations as a cohesive unit altogether.
So Hope we get to see the USS Nimitz soon.

Yeah, far as I know, we have the USS Forestall And the Nimitz class CVN 70 series carriers. We do have the Essex class coming with the corsair and hellcat.

Is this made with current version? Two things unfamiliar I'm seeing in there, the hook sparks on landing, and the pitching deck. I don't think those are currently in?
I've been getting hooks sparks on land base While taxiing down the runway and dropping the hook, but it would be nice to get it on the boat too. The main part of this update is to bring out what potentially we're going to get as far as the ready room be fully functional airbus and the LSO platform improvements.
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Honestly, what does the ready room bring that that a pre brief in Discord or whatever does not? It's a waste of time and resources when other really fundamental stuff is not sorted.
For me, it's just a sense of community. In my squadron that I was a member of, not a pilot, we had the equivalent of a ready room which served multiple purposes and was customized. For those military simulation units that have squatter and like structure, it just adds a little bit of a spread decor options.
i should at least be a little bit excited about that since i flew nothing but Hornets even before the DCS Hornet was a thing, and obviously preordered the SC back then as well.. however i kinda feel nothing, guess by now i'm too disconnected from the whole thing.. Non of the projects i bought have been 100% complete / received the promised features for more than half a decade of DCS, says a lot about the company named Eagle Dynamics.
It's a good point. And I agree with you, but I have learned that DCS has never been about being a video game but being a hands-on digital combat simulator that's always changing evolving and growing. Several of us recognize what you see yeah we still get enjoyment and pleasure out of it. I hope this comes to you for the joy of the mission.

I'll try to get more details but all of the features that we should be getting our in testing phase with the Grimm reapers right now. Might want to head over to their chat if that thing. I'm not a parlay in that world.
I'm looking forward to nothing more than the updates for the SuperCarrier. Above all, the ability to turn the ship into the wind is sorely missed. At the moment, using it is more of a constant workaround.

Personally I fly the Su-33 from the SC Kuznetsov, I'd love an update to that so it feels more lively.
I saw those when they came out and much better than before for sure. I don't fly FC3 and since the Admiral is rusting away in harbor, I didn't see it as a threat in DCS anymore 🤣

What's your computer set up? With all the upgrades to multi thread and post processing options, everybody without a pin on one computer should be able to play it with decent settings. I'm getting zero rubberbanding and have never had it on the deck. Are you on a public server with a high ping?

Just so happens I uploaded a video yesterday (DCS Case 3 - jo kenobi) and there were 0 stutters; I wanted to include parking but the deck wouldn't have it. Anyway, I live in Japan and use a public server so I guess that must be it. Would you know a remedy?
Do a simple test on single player version on the carrier deck, land and taxi around and park and see if you're getting the rubber banding in single player. If you're not getting it there then it's definitely the latency. By chance, do you have your FPS limit set too high? Hanger or bust
Boy having the hanger decked out with some aircraft statics and people animated moving around would be so enriching to me. Closest I ever got to a supercar. It was 1000 feet AGL 1000 feet of beam in a 135 refueling tanker in 1995. I would love to go on board one while it's underway.
Was the video extremely dark for anyone else?
Not on my monitor or phone with the brightness turned all the way up. There was a lot of nighttime shots there so check your settings on whatever device you're using. If you're watching on your phone and have the brightness turned down to save battery, you might be affected.

I'm working with them on inputs and sparking interest in the community for newcomers who haven't tried DCS SuperCarrier Ops yet. Awesome news about your PPL, I was in the Air Force for 20 years, supporting aviation and waited too long to get mine at age 40. I owned a Cessna 150 for about two years to build time with and then moved to the Pacific Northwest and invested in a bunch of aircraft hangers. Was going to buy another aircraft, but then I had all these customers that would take me flying and let me fly their aircraft. Eventually I moved out into the country and retired to just DCS fly. Looking forward to any content you put up on your channel. Even general aviation flight.

Take more than this to get me back into DCS flying alone in single player and then flying alone yet again in a diminishing multiplayer environment. I have the supercarrier but I won't be rushing to upgrade..👎
It should be a free update, not a upgrade. But, flying super carrier op with a half a dozen buddies who are all working in unison towards the same goal is pretty rewarding to me. We're training a couple new wingmen right now and I need to do an update video on that.

Ive always felt the SC was way too sterile. I wanna see a lot more going on. Hear the loudspeaker like the Top Gun opening scene.
I really think we have an ability to get that with the dedicated push to make this carrier its own true module with all the features and interaction for a unit level experience. I'd love to be on the deployment for six months where we do missions just like a real cruise. 🫡 JUICE.
Looks good, just not into the US navy. Don't think I'll ever purchase this DLC until/unless we get carriers from other nations.
