What Happens When a Chinese SPY SHIP Gets Too Close to a US Aircraft Carrier?

- Ever wondered what goes down when a Chinese spy ship gets too close too a US aircraft carrier? When an unknown ship pops up on the radar of an American aircraft carrier, the crew swiftly jumps into action. But what exactly is a spy ship? These vessels are equipped with all sorts of gear to eavesdrop on communications, track movements, and gather information about other ships.
Their first move? Trying to figure out who's approaching by using binoculars and trying to make contact. Meanwhile, the captain gets the heads-up, and it's all hands on deck for assessing the situation.
As the spy ship gets dangerously close, the crew springs into action with a bunch of tricks to keep the carrier and its crew safe. They set up barriers and start using electronic warfare tactics to mess with the spy ship's surveillance and communication gear while keeping their own gear in check.

Unfortunately, I served on a US aircraft carrier……. This don’t happen, that’s what the battle group is for! Nothing moves within a 200 miles that doesn’t get several fly bys and has a destroyer headed to’em…..
Agreed. They wouldn't get within hundreds of miles unless it were a sub and even then. This channel is for shit. Retired STG.
Good to get the truth instead of all this patriotic drama.
24 years plus retired Navy and you are correct. The ships which make up the battlegroup are there to protect the mothership at all costs. Airwing will almost always have aircraft on the catapults in Alert status, armed and ready to go. The real threat is the communications our enemies MAY be able to intercept and this is a big maybe since we always know they are there. Our adversaries mostly like to observe ships movement and operations for their own future benefit. The modern day battle group is the most powerful and capable mobile fortress in the world and they can learn a lot simply by watching. By the way, FORTUNATELY you did serve on an aircraft carrier! Thank you for your service.
While you are waiting for that destroyer, the SSN'S are already there and have lined up for a shot if needed, I spent 18 years at sea mostly on Fast Attacks and 4 years on DE'S, so I know the game pretty good, QMC(SS).
Why UNFORTUNATELY?
I am a little bit suspicious of this video. Carriers are usually positioned in the middle of a "carrier group", that is, they are surrounded by other ships who shield it from external threats or attacks. It is hard to imagine any foreign ship slipping into the midst of the carrier group and getting close to the carrier itself. If this really did happen, then somebody wasn't doing their job and ought to have their asses kicked.
If Chinese ship were to sail so close to US armada, then the American ships have nothing to protect themselves during a war!!!
REALITY CHECK !!!: What if the "enemy aircraft", is a Kinzhal hypersonic missile launched from far away; dropping down at 12.000 MPH from the stratosphere !!
Here suck on this design details -->>>
"The missile is 8m long with a body diameter of 1m and a launch weight of approximately 4,300kg. It quickly accelerates to Mach 4 (4,900km/h) after launch and may reach a speed of up to Mach 10 (12,350km/h)."

Yeah I remember when Ragan told the Navy to splash some Lybian Migs , carrier group saw Migs before Migs saw them . Dapat paghuhuliim natin lahat ng Chinese sa WPS he he he
It has been my experience aboard 🇺🇸 Navy ships that , foreign spy ships all get treated the same. It's never a big deal.
A Chinese spy ship would never be allowed to get close to an aircraft carrier. If a US aircraft carrier is underway, there is also a group of destroyers as well as a submarine in the neighborhood.
And what would USA do when China are doing what they are allowed to do?
Start a war by sinking them?
I only watched this because I love looking at aircraft carriers. The best way to watch is muted, the verbiage gets in the way.
And the speaker is Canadian
What makes you think that the Chinese care anything about the rules of the high seas?
But they are not.
Got "Join the Navy See the World"?
Go Navy!
When they get too close, the US commander should invite the Chinese commander over for a nice dinner. The US commander and his staff can then learn more about what the Chinese ship is up to and defuse tensions at the same time. The next time, the Chinese commander will feel pressure to return the favor, allowing the US commander and his staff to collect intel on the Chinese ship and mission. Keep your friends close, keep your enemies even closer.
Chinese wouldn't accept invitation dinner because they would think the Americans will let them cook the food and have it prepared for all of them..🤣

When I was in the USAF, the Cambodians captured a US freighter, mistaking it for a spy ship. (1975) The freighter was the Mayagüez. The US Navy, together with the Marines, had to go and rescue the ship and its crew.
The USAF helped by having its SIGINT station in Thailand monitor Cambodian and other communications and issue SITREPs during the rescue.
We may have inter-service rivalry, but when the rubber hits the road, we work together to accomplish the mission.

That gunboat is now a submarine.
I've never suffered from panic!
Any ship approaching a carrier not in a stateside port is approaching a battle group, with the carrier in the middle and warships all around. A "spy ship," or any other ship, will run into the cordon of support ships and aircraft from the carrier long before anyone onboard can see the carrier. An aircraft carrier at sea is one of the most protected places on earth.
He mentioned TTW, territorial waters and then said it was okay to go through TTW as long as you were conducting innocent passage. He is incorrect. Territorial waters are in fact sovereign territory, in accordance with international law.
Of course the Carrier moves away ......
No one will dare to attack a Chinese ship for sure.
I believe that they will have peacefully dialogue, for getting closer, that's why communicates each other, for peace...
This should be labeled under comedy. What does the crew do when a spy ship approaches, START SPYING ON THEM! Don't get me wrong I can't remember which general said this , "when a US Aircraft carrier shows up power changes hands quickly." It's a mobile military air force fully loaded with Navy officers, Seals and surrounded by battle ships. Let's not forget there could be a couple subs in striking position. Nobody wants to cross that line even if we go to war with them.
The 2 biggest guys on the block will eventually lock horns..
As the old saying goes “Release The Kraken!”
Wouldn't the aircraft carrier be complete garbage if this was ever a problem?
They can upgrade their equipment but the training professionalism and skill level of the two navies is totally different. The US navy is a well-oiled machine with long practiced reactions and actions to be taken. The Chinese have nowhere near the experience now the quality of equipment. I am biased be a US navy veteran, but it is just my thoughts.
Question: forgetting the aircraft carrier and the Chinese ship being a spy ship or what ever it was, I was wondering what if! If you took a ship, for an example like the chinse one here, and instead of using propellers to move it, and you used to large jet engines (one one each side placed on custom made pods like the Star Trek space ship), would it work? would it work better/worse?
I was cruising though a naborhood in Philadelphia on time following someone else . The naborhood was quiet , and nothing a little patience won’t take care of , when suddenly the car infront of my pickup truck stopped a layed on the horn of his car !
All of a sudden the naborhood came out , determined it wasn’t me , and they turned the offending car over in the middle of the street with the driver in the car !
I backed out of that situation real quick . The guy behind me wasn’t to happy either . But I was able to get around him . Fortunately .
So I can see where the Chinese navy gets a little nurvous when we’re in the naborhood .
in my opinion, if a spy ship happens to get close to an aircraft carrier, it's simply because it was allowed to get that close but in real combat scenario, they have already been engaged my destroyers or a submarine. Ultimately, fighter planes had already made series of fly by.
Good luck with your theories.
They should give out warnings to stay away from them! And respect the sea laws!
Sure, all bad people respect other people and always obey laws and commands...but not on Earth.
There is a reason China has never challenged a United States Navy vessel. They don't want no smoke.
