This is a song I danced at a father daughter dance as a child. As an adult, I had this played at my wedding for my father daughter dance too. I love this song so much!
@@AHVENAN too many of this generation don't realize lyrics before the last 2 decades were like poems. Oh, "drive you crazy" just means you don't know how to handle it not in the sexual context that @grant49 saw it as.
This song is one of the greatest love songs ever written. Richard said he wrote it in 20 minutes while on tour, thats amazing. He is a very talented song writer, as well as a great singer. This song is truly timeless, and we all can relate to it. Its a great, great song and I appreciate your reaction to it
Thank you Stacey for another beautiful reaction. I noticed your smile as soon as the piano started and was sure you would like it. Your choices for songs to react to is spectacular and I do very much enjoy the variety of music. I can't wait to see what is next
Growing up in the 80’s had no idea how lucky we were! Loved Richard Marx. Angelina, hold onto the nights, endless summer nights. Such good songs and memories!
Richard Marx wrote this song on tour for his first wife Cynthia, who was his gf then... so it was very sincere. It became his biggest hit. Also, masterful songwriter, singer, piano and guitar. Hold On to the Nights is my second favorite after this one.
He is definetly one of the best male singer/song writer of my life time. The King of ballad songs, he has written so many unforgetible songs over the years. And he still delivers amazing vocals and great songs to this day, at the age of 61yo ❤ I have so many memorys conected to his music.. ps loved your reaction.
Richard Marx was a big part of me growing up. I played his music on repeat when I was in high school. Other songs you will enjoy are "Right Here Waiting", "Hold On to the Nights", "Satisfied", "Shouldve Known Better", "Angelia", "Now and Forever", and my personal favorite "Endless Summer Nights". He also is a big-time writer, and has written for Luther Vandross, N'Sync, Kenny Rogers, Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban, Natalie Cole, Michael Bolton, Keith Urban, and many other artists. He actually won a Grammy for his co-writing with Vandross on "Dance With My Father" in 2004. Enjoy this rabbit hole - his music is underrated and legendary.
I wanted to see if someone commented about his skills as a songwriter for other A-list singers. Check out his album "Stories To Tell: Greatest Hits and More" from 2021. He performs his song "Dance With My Father" and there are a number of demo tracks of his biggest hits. One of my favorite songs of his is "Now and Forever". I learned to play it on the piano when I was growing up.
Richard Marx is an incredible guitarist too. You should try to check out some of his more recent live performances. He's still very active and has written some incredible songs. He's great live. I've always been in awe of his voice and talent. I loved him in the 80s and still love him today. Thanks for another great reaction Stacy. Keep up the great work.
Glad to see you enjoying a lot of great music that I grew up on! Great to see you appreciate it! It was a very special time, especially for music, and movies! 👍
This is the song of me and my wife. This song was playing when I propose to her on "our" beach when we first met. And this song was the "glue" when we were apart when I was working abroad in New Zealand. Hello from us from Slovenia 🇸🇮
Richard Marx is a VERY cool guy. Had musical parents, including his dad who was a jazz musician and recording artist in the big band era. I was college-age when this song came out but it was maybe 5 years ago that I realized that I really love it.
This was the first song on a mix tape my wife sent to me when I was deployed to Desert Storm and you couldn't keep the tears out of my eyes. Coming up on our 35th anniversary this spring and still going strong.
Can't go wrong with Richard Marx. Great voice and a Beautiful Love Ballad song. Great song for people at Valentine's Day. Another Genuine Emotional Reaction from you.
80’s rock & metal guitar player here, I got such crap for diggin’ Richard Marx then. Dude has real talent, lyrically and musically but haters gonna hate. Shoulda Known Better is my personal fav.
@ yea, the other one I hear is “YOU CAN’T PLAY METAL ON A STRAT!”, to which I simply reply, Iron Maiden does. “Oh, yea”. I don’t get it, never did, I listen to stuff all across the spectrum of music, good is good, talent speaks for itself. The weird looks I get when I start talking about Bob Moog, Wendy Carlos, Clockwork Orange and Tron soundtracks then put on Kraftwerk and Daft Punk. I’m also an engineer, computers and networks by day, electronics by night, love me some analog synths and funky 70’s guitar pedals.
What's important to remember when listening to this song is that it was written and performed before the internet was around, so physical distance was an important factor that separated people, especially your loved ones. "Oceans apart" and "hearing your voice on the line" is what he was experiencing while missing his loved one. Remember, back in those days the only way to communicate with someone that was far away, especially separated by oceans, were hand written letters sent by snail mail and land line telephone calls, period! This is the reality and gravity of his situation in this song in the times he was living in then, a concept that maybe a lot of young folks today really don't have a true experience of especially with today's cell phones and face time! Yes, this was a personal song Richard wrote about missing his true love while on tour back in the day! Great reaction, Richard Marx is awesome, one of the main influencers of today's music.
Richard Marx is a singer song writer. He wrote this song as a love letter to his Wife (actress Cynthia Rhodes) who was working on a film in Africa at the time while he was on the road performing. The song was released in 1989. His vocals are amazing! Nice reaction Stacey! Thank you for another heart felt and beautiful reaction!
Good reaction, Stacey. Everytime I hear this song, it brings back a sad memory. I serenaded my high school girlfriend at the time with this song before she and her family moved out of the States and lived abroad. Bring tears to my eyes till this day😢.
Love this song since it came out. I actually played this on piano and sung it over the phone to a girl i was madly in love with back in the early 2000's. While it didn't worked out for us in the long run, i know i made an impression at the time... 😉 And you are right Stacey, we where definitely built different in he 80's, we grew up with this... This is what "normal" was to us in music, and in life.
Hi sweet Stacey Hello from Portugal 🤗🤗, look Richard Marx was one outsider in the 80's with this amazing Ballad, when we had powerful Ballads, in that time from, Skid Row, Poison, Stellheart, Whitesnake, LA Guns, Europe, White Lion, Kingdom come, Stryper, Aerosmith, Warrant, Slaughter, Heart, Savatage, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Cinderella, Bad English, Mr. Big, Foreigner, Firehouse, House of Lords etc... He with this song we can say in middle from Rock and Hard Rock, he win a place in that time between that powerballads, me as 100% DNA Hard Rock, I like this song, is smooth Gentil 💯💯, kisses From Lisbon Portugal Stacey 🤗🤗
Love how much the music of the’80’s moves you and how appreciative you are of the depth and quality of that time period. There will never be another decade quite like it. ❤
When I saw live at the Royal Albert Hall in London, he dedicated this song to the hostages John McCarthy, Brian Keenan and Terry Waite and their loved ones who were ‚right there waiting‘ for them. It was a very emotional moment and he performed the song perfectly. Saw him live several times and he is a consummate performer, musician and composer.
Children of the night, is one no one reacts too but it's a great deep song by Richard who wanted to put a spotlight on children living on the streets 💔💔💔😢😢
He’s a wonderful song writer. My wife won tickets to see him, in a conference room, with 101 people (101.5 WQUT radio station giveaway). It was just him, a keyboard and another guitarist. He played, told stories, let us ask questions. It was great. This was after his heyday, like early 2000’s I think? He wrote “This I Promise You” for *NSYNC. There is a video of them with him playing piano live.
You would also like Endless Summer Nights, Hold onto the Nights,, Should've Known Better and Don't mean Nothing as well.. He was married to Cynthia Rhodes from the movies Flashdance and Dirty Dancing. He's now married to Daisy Fuentes from MTV in the 90's.
Ah what I Call A Beautiful Depressing Song.love it, and sometimes I get years in my eyes. I find it fascinating how musicians are able to play the lyrics of a song on a Piano, Guitar or other instruments. So cool.
Back in the summer of 1990 my girlfriend and I went to Canada's Wonderland. Which was a great place then, now it's a s*** hole like all of Canada. Part of your admission then included free outdoor concerts. The day we were there the outdoor concert was Richard Marx, with Wilson Phillips as the opening act. I like his music but didn't think much of it but when we saw him live it blew us away! I cannot underestimate how brilliant he was in concert! His voice was exactly the way it was in this video. Because of that concert every time I hear him sing I tear up. Wilson Phillips was excellent as well.
Richard Marx is a great song writer...he has songs he wrote sung by other artists or bands..like Jamey Johnson wrote "Just Give it Away " sang by George Straight that became a number 1 hit...Real careers in the music industry are from song writing no matter who sings it and your own songs you sing...Great artist keep the music industry rolling ..even when you sell out instead of being independent...some have to do what they have to do for the love of their music career..great reaction!!
He used to be married to Daisy Fuentes (a former M TV VJ) Not sure about now but he writes/sings beautiful "gorgeous" songs I love watching your music video reactions Stacey!😍🎶✌
My song when I had just broke off with the love of my life in the late 80s. It took awhile but I finally moved on but this song is still with me to this day.
Great reaction to an amazing song and amazing artist. I can remember when this came out, showing my age here, when there were rock, new wave, synth, dance, metal songs in the charts and you could like a bit of each, unlike now when everything seems to sound so similar and uninspiring. As you love this song i suggest also checking out another artist from this time that i don't think you've reacted to yet, Michael Bolton, and his song How Am I Supposed To Live Without You. I think it will blow you away.
This song was big in 90,'s weddings! He has some uptempo songs also like " Dont Mean Nothing", "Too Late To Say goodbye" & Should have Known Better". I saw him when he was an unknown. He opened for a REO Speedwagon concert I attended but was not on the bill. I said to myself who is this guy. He evened sang a song walking in the aisles. I guess we eventually found out!😊
Awsome! Thank you for listening to this. Another long distence love song you must hear is ''Journey - faithfully''. The singer Steve Perry, has one of the best voices in the world by my opinion. Also we need you to react to more ''Meatloaf'' as well, their song - ''I would do aniting for love'' is a must watch.
Richard also wrote some great songs for other artists, including This I Promise You (N'Sync), Dance With My Father (Luther Vandross) and To Where You Are (Josh Groban). Each of those are worth a reaction from you on their own merit! 🙂
One of my favorite artist and song. I hope you review more of his songs . Endless Summer Night,, Should have Known Better,,, Keep Coming Back (Live) w Sarah Nimmets. Thank you!
This ballad went very far, that same year they played Poison with Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Warrant with Heaven, Guns and Roses with Patience, Skid Row with:18 and life, Bon Jovi with "I'll Be There for You, White Lion with ;When the children cry, Ozzy Osbourne with "Close My Eyes Forever, all the great power ballads of all time, at the same time and this was one of the most successful, Stacey this is very great
Great classic Stacey, Richard's most popular hit in my opinion. He was popular for a few years going to concerts, but he made his money by writing for other artists and bands, quite lucrative for him. He was a talented singer/songwriter. You may want to check out his other hits: "Angelia" "Should've Known Better" "Endless Summer Nights" "Hold Onto The Night" "Don't Mean Nothing" "Now And Forever" "Satisfied" "Until I Find You Again" "Too Late To Say Goodbye" Also, a song from my birth year--Benny Mardones--Into The Night.
A little trivia: While in college in the 80's, we had a speaker at a music industry seminar that had worked with Richard Marx' father, Dick Marx, who was a prominent jingle writer for a variety of commercials (NesTea, StarKist tuna, Dial Soap, Virginia Slims cigarettes, Kellogg's Raisin Bran, Wrigleys Doublemint gum, etc.)
His debut came out in the height of me being into Metal/Hard Rock. Even though that was my favorite type of music and still is. I enjoyed softer stuff as well. Maybe because if Led Zeppelin can do acoustic and ballads you can have an open mind to explore others. I bought his Debut and totally enjoyed it. This was a great song off his 2nd. Keep doing all types of Music Stacey 🎶
My love, I loved your angelic reaction and the deep way in which you felt your words, you should listen to more songs from the 80s like steelheart, or Nazareth or Skid row, you will love listening to these fantastic musicians, a little kiss from Portugal from the city of Guimarães💯💯 💯❤😊
You got to hear "Endless Summer Nights"! It's so good. If you love ballads then another song to check out is called "Was It Nothing At All" by Michael Damian. I love all types of music, but ballads hold a special place in my heart!
One of the nicest songs! Always loved this one. If you like that…Gotta check out Steve Perry-“Foolish Heart”… Mr. Mister-“Broken Wings”.. Billy Vera-“At This Moment”.. Hall & Oates-“Sara Smile”(the radio versionNOT THE LIVE VERSION). So many more…real music! Not the crap they call music today!
I don't believe I have listened to this song since I was in my last relationship, gonna be interesting to see how it feels hearing it again cause Im gonna get FLOODED with memories....
And I still know the lyrics word by word... I used to sing this to my then girlfriend all the time as we were in a long distance relationship... It is making me tear up just a little bit...
Richard did write this song. It is simple, he missed his girlfriend very much traveling and being on the road for long periods of time. Totally written from his heart and beautiful.
This is a song I danced at a father daughter dance as a child. As an adult, I had this played at my wedding for my father daughter dance too. I love this song so much!
Thanks for making me cry.

This song just tugs at the heart strings...
"Hold On To The Night" is another great song by this singer... He is also a great accomplished song writer; writing many songs for recording artists.

Amazing song
His debut came out in the height of me being into Metal/Hard Rock. Even though that was my favorite type of music and still is. I enjoyed softer stuff as well. Maybe because if Led Zeppelin can do acoustic and ballads you can have an open mind to explore others. I bought his Debut and totally enjoyed it. This was a great song off his 2nd. Keep doing all types of Music Stacey 🎶
This is a really beautiful song. When I was in early high school, we wait for this song to dance with the girl we like...
Takes me back to better times.
A classic of the 80s
Hazard, good song by Richard Marx. very mysterious..... good song to react to........ nice reaction...... thank you..........

You will also Love his song "Endless Summer Nights".
His wife, Cynthia Rhodes, is the woman dancer in Toto’s Roseanna video, as well as acting in Flashdance, Dirty Dancing and other movies.
Thes I Promise You by Nsync, that classic Nsyc ballad, was composed by this singer.
Satisfied is an uptempo rock song with Great Guitar in it,as we say In Australia do yourself a Favour and listen to it
I don't believe I have listened to this song since I was in my last relationship, gonna be interesting to see how it feels hearing it again cause Im gonna get FLOODED with memories....
