- The Mutalist Cernos was one of the original weapons to do extremely high level missions. This was when health scaling was multiplicative going to ridiculously high numbers and primary arcanes and galvanized mods were not a thing yet.
The weapon shoots a normal arrow that explodes into a cloud of smoke that does constant toxin damage. This triggers a lot of effects like split flights and hunter munitions aswell as any elemental damage you may have on your weapon. It can help you get some insane synergies and the damage as you will clearly see is absolute bonkers. I am sure this video will have a lot of comments saying this is nothing impressive and they will say this way before they realise that I had been using an extinguished dragon key against level 180 eximus.
I think this is a weapon that people who want to go really high level should give a try.

We've reached a point where the power of weapons doesn't matter nearly as much as it uses to, so the reason for people not using this bow is simply because it doesn't feel as good as the other options. If I can kill an enemy with a fun gun or an unfun but more powerful gun, I'm going to choose the fun gun every time.
Exactly. The meta weapons today are just simply bullet hose vaporizers that annihilates a whole tunnel of enemies. The Burston, Latron, Strun, and Torid have absolutely no contenders.

You are the only person I’ve seen who is also almost exclusive to one frame. I would love to play sometime. I have almost 5k hours with a 82% Mag usage. If your ever doing long runs I would love to tag along!

I stopped using this because immediately after getting it to level 30 I turned it into a Proboscis Cernos and never bothered building it again.
Proboscis Cernos is cool.

Honestly this has been my experience with more than half of the weapons I have. I just accumulate and master weapons with really learning the weapon. I’m going back through a lot of my weapons now that I am mastery rank 30 but yeah.

@@voidhiddenghost5544 I use five keys every time I test weapons to make sure the damage is good and I never run an aura mod even sp endurance to make sure my weapons aren't being propped up

they shouldn't need to say it. Cause the saying "Variety is the spice of life" exists. but here we are. UA-camrs clinging onto their meta equipment through and through with 5 forma builds that no-one playing free to play or not farming plat like it's their full time job will ever realistically achieve. :V
So it's good that he's showing off old things like that with weird/cool interactions that can still be played. which is well, most things, when you consider the default starchart and maybe up to lich missions and upper sortie. Game is impossibly powercrept. so people can just do whatever and still have atleast a bit of fun if they have the imagination and resources.
This was my love with Mag when I 1st came back few months before steel path release. Its a great weapon does start to fall off around 1400 level acts but against reg level cap its so strong and fun.
This used to be my go to Saryn weapon, glad to see its now gonna get a new lease on life in my arsenal

I don't use it anymore because i play missions that demand KPM not single target health draining but it is a great weapon. Split flights was a huge help to its dps and is the only bow that can have the buff active due to the toxin clouds counting as damage or the bonus multishot.
The forced toxin on every hit is weak, but at least its there. Also gas clouds are not considered aoe, when the game says aoe they mean explosive. It's why the pox and torid don't knock you down when you enter the gas clouds, that wouldn't make sense lol.
By the way, have you tried putting just a cold mod on? You will end up getting viral and cold because the clouds will combine the toxin with the cold to make viral, but the actual arrow impact will deal cold. Better crit damage and slowing down enemies :)
That cold interaction sounds sick, I will look into it with an avenger/ardaza setup to see if i can red crit and deal funny damage.

Couldn’t you use gas and cold together to get the best of both worlds? Also using primary frostbite.
Not really because you would have to remove useful mods in order to fit gas, unless you have a riven mod that has toxin and heat built in maybe, then you only lose out on one slot for hammer shot or something. @@liesiontheir

know this video is pretty old and someone may have commented this already. i think the reason it's multiplicitive on a tap fire is because the game will treat it as a projectile, and a charged shot as hitscan? (which partially doesn't make sense due to a lot of fully-charged shots on bows not having hitscan properties, but it's the only thing i can think of.)
and its a lingering aoe of death so you can pull things into it, this is wild

6:40 ha, I've done that before when fighting murmur. left my dragon key on and I was still pretty capable, then I realized half way through the mission when voidrig wouldn't die, but still.
MC definitely does a lot of damage. Don't get me wrong, but you can get that much damage in MUCH easier ways.
Particularly, the headshot requirement really brings it down. This game does everything it can to make it obnoxious to land headshots. Its got helmets that cover the entire back of the head, the jankiest movement you can imagine, and some enemies don't even have heads.
I mean...Atlas (who isn't even a great frame) can hit for 10s of millions in AOE while being invulnerable most of the time.
I've been rocking the Lato Vandal Incarnon.
Riven with ~200% CC & -125% recoil.
My Incarnon shots are over 400% CC with Avenger with my base CD being 11.7x.
It's a lot of fun & I almost never see anyone else use it.
Having the absolute zero recoil means you can just aim for the head & shoot as many times as you want, but you rarely need more than one shot anyway.
Instead of those elements, I went for an unranked Cold mod and Internal Bleeding, it worked pretty well (no riven)
This was my go to weapon before the gas damage nerf. Between the gas change and lag from the cloud I haven't picked it back up.
I almost melted my Xbox with xatas + gas cold build with primary frostbite. Gas clouds with this thing is so fun and a good way to displease the meta slaves.

I like the build, just need some way to up the KPM and it can be viable once again, if only there is a primary weapon equivalent for collective curse, or some additional shenanigan stuff like melee influence.

My mutalist cernos has heat & gas with primary blight as the arcane because the gas clouds themselves still proc toxic. Add on radiated reload them boom you got all of those plus confusion which makes it a deadly crowd control build.

I'd guess the reason why people don't use this weapon, is mostly just to do with awareness of it.
Mutalist Cernos is kind of seen as a mid early game weapon, whereas other weapons like Torid get a lot of publicity and people are very aware of how strong they are. Mutalist Cernos also relies on some mechanics that aren't super obvious too, to be very powerful, like stacking multiplicatives that a lot of people probably don't even know exist, Sharpshot doesn't even tell you how it works until you use it, for example.
This weapon is really strong in practice, but doesn't look that great on paper, compared to other meta weapons, so that's why people don't use it I'd guess. I think it's a really funny and interesting bow.
(Eclipse would actually prolly be stronger here than Roar, at least nowadays that it's more consistent, as it multiplies with other sources of faction damage)
That’s awesome! Could you show a build for the proboscis cernos? I haven’t been able to make it work in steelpath, it feels awful. Used to use it for arbi’s waaaay long ago and now it feels like crap

I just go for whatever I feel like using. Wether the flavor of the day is how's or snipers or grenade launcher depends on what I wanna run kinda 😅

I didn't think this weapon was so powerful, definitely I'll give it a try! Maybe for corpus disruption or similar things. The weapon seems to be able to be played against any faction, but as for the Grineer, I prefer to stick with the Cinta or nataruk. And noob question, what is blue cube turning around the frame? I've seen this thing many times in many videos but I never knew what it was...

Basically everyone switched to the probocsis , even if they play completely different.
I love this bow, I use it on Ivara with empowering quiver + eclipse, find a nice funnel point and profit, would gladly show you if you have any interest in 2 button solo gameplay that isn’t Octavia
That setup can kill forever with any AoE weapon. I personally run Shedu or Tombfinger on it, both will outpace even the best Necramechs in DPS.

We did a level cap run with a friend few days ago on a kuva disruption fissure mission. On the final wave she 1 mag'd a kuva guardian demolyst without armor strip. With my dual toxocyst I could barely damage him with no armor strip
This makes me want to mess the proboscis cernos now

I dived deep into the Mutalist Cernos a few weeks ago and went with a quick-shot galv. shot xata build and it was a ton of fun and insanely strong!
But spamming the mouseclick or in my case controller trigger wasn't very enjoyable and exhausting so i didn't use it a lot unfortunately.

Lets be honest, if u dont have anything else to do in the game and u have the patience to hit head by head in real missions its amazing, but the truth is we "all" play the game finishing everything as quick as possible to start the next mission. Thats why every real aoe weapon whit acceptable dmg or strong aoe warframes are the choice. Im pretty sure that the amount of players that go in lvl cap daily doesnt even reach the 5% of the playerbase. U said the mutalist was meta? Then we have a different idea of what meta means in warframe, cause personally I dont remember seeing the cernos that much even at release. But yeah, its my opinion and my experience ofc.
Yes for old level cap the meta gun to take to level cap was mutalist cernos, this was before aoes were good because weapon arcanes and galvanized mods werent a thing. Melee weapons in general were too OP and unmatchable by anything in that meta

Ive been playing Warframe since t1, t2 and t3, I understand what u said about melee weapons, back then as u said there wasnt anything matcheable to them thats why the only ppl using guns over melee were the ones trying to proof a point, or ppl tired of the meta, that doesnt make a weapon meta. I'm not saying cernos wasnt able to do whatever u say it was, but I havent see that many cernos at any lvl, at any point. Could it be just casuality? Maybe, could it be u just trying to give a point to the video? Also may be. If I try to look in the past the only thing that comes to my mind are daggers and some other melee and ppl either invisible 100% of the time or spinning around like crazy. Could that be ptsd? I dont think there is anything wrong with liking a gun but we are at a point where someone goes like: Hey you can use this combination to do crazy damage and get a reply like "just use torid/revenant/glaive"

It will still do damage but on higher levels u wont be able to stack it. Primary blight or deadhead are decent substitutes but not even close to the damage sharpshot deals

Deadhead is additive while sharpshot is multiplicative so sharpshot is way better for sure. Roar is good ye, triple dot moment
